Re: New PS5 Firmware Update Is Available to Download Now, Here's What It Does

NoCode23

Will there ever be an update that will allow the option to disable any and all Automatic downloading. If I don't want to update a game it is because I don't want to update that game. Why does Sony intrude and have my PS5 auto downloading an update.

After inserting a game disc into my PS3 If a game has an available update my PS3 will ask me if I want to update. When I declined I would not be asked again as long as that disc remained in the disc drive. There was also no PS4 sneaky background downloading and installing an update that would be announced as completed in an onscren message while I am playing the game. With no option to disable the intrusion I disconnect my PS4 from the internet.

Now I have found the PS5 is intruding and auto downloading an update, it's 25GB so I have time to cancel. This happens everytime I start the game, it's a PS4 disc. I have yet to see if the update will also auto install. So now I just disconnect from the internet when I play that game. A game I want to play the original unpatched version of.

Re: GTA 6 Not Expected to Run at 60fps on Any PS5 Console

NoCode23

If GTA6 can not run at 1080p @ 60fps on A base PS5 then it is actually made for next gen where hopefully a PS6 can play it at least at 60fps and 1080 or 1440p.

GTA6 on base PS5 could have non blurry 1080p graphics that runs at a smooth non motion blurry 60fps. As an option a free texture pack could be offered to download for those that want finer detail at the cost of playing at 30fps. Then with the PS6 R☆ can sell an upgrade of both higher definition and 60 fps.

I'm currently playing Dead Island 2 on my PS5 slim. With my old 1080p tv I'm getting a clear 1080p at a smooth 60fps.

Re: Talking Point: Is GTA 6's Dodgy Ultimate Edition a Deal-Breaker?

NoCode23

Overall GTA5 was a bargain at $60 0n my PS3. Hundreds of hours of play, almost daily online play for two years before I purchased a PS4. There was no dlc costs as the no extra cost online was the dlc and I never needed shark cards because I had the time to grind, and also no fee to play online. All for only $60, a cost per hour played ratio bargain in deed.

Then I paid $30 for an on sale copy of GTA5 PS4 edition, and purchased Plus for the first time to play it online. Still a bargain for the story replay at better fps, and hundreds of hours of online play from 2016 to 2018, and more hours until about 2022.

That was a decade ago and everything costs more now. Playing GTA6 will cost more, the game, the paywall to play online, and maybe even a one time fee or monthly fee to play online, or maybe major features/ content walled behind a GTA+ sub. However if I play daily and total hundreds of hours of play for a year or two it will likely also feel like a bargain.

The $20 extra for ultimate is the cost of some large dlc in some games so the content should be more than just skins, trinkets, and a weapon we may never use. One question I have is will we be able to purchase that content seperately after purchasing the regular edition?

Re: Mass Effect Fans, Feast Your Eyes on a Full 20 Minutes of Exodus Gameplay

NoCode23

@Pat_trick
I agree, and you're not a debbie downer for pointing out the ugly visuals of this game. Exodus has too dark lighting, too dark interiors, too heavy volumetric lighting/atmospher, low draw distance, low contrast, and low/washed out colors. What's to like about all of that? Also throw in some unwanted depth of field blurring. Will this game have options to disable all of that and make the visuals pretty.

Re: This New PS5 Controller May Solve DualSense's Stick Drift Issues, But It Comes with a $220 Cost

NoCode23

An inexpensive way to deal with Dual Nonsense stick drift is a $70 DS4. That is if Sony would return to manufacturing DS4's and if Sony would allow DS4 use on PS5 games. Doing so would also please those, like me, that prefer the DS4 to the DualSence. Those that find the DS4 more comfortable to hold and use, lighter in weight, and don't care about or use the "sense" feature. I always play with everything off including vibration except when vibration is needed like finding stuff in RDR2.

Re: Pragmata Looks Best on PS5 Pro, Says Tech Experts

NoCode23

@Almost_Ghostly
When it's game consoles, tv's, home appliances, and automobiles I'll take plain and boring over deformed, ugly, and weird looking. The PS5 looks deformed, ugly, and weird.

I would really like to see the PS5 designs passed over for what was used.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 628

NoCode23

Doing a replay of Dying Light 1 on my PS5. With 60 fps and shorter load times Its a nice improvement over playing on my PS4 PRO. It's my favorite zombie game.

However my replay has reminded me how much this game needs an fov option. Just a 15° wider view from the narrow default would make a difference and provide some feeling of peripheral vision.

Re: Here's a Better Look at PS5's Redesigned Home Menu, Currently in Beta

NoCode23

I still haven't the slightest idea why Sony went from the simple functional PS4 ui to the less simple PS5 ui. There is no real need to fix or change what's not broken.

Hopefully this new ui will be more simple and functional like is the current PS4 ui. Now just add the use of DS4 controllers with PS5 games so I can use a controller I find more comfortable to use. I won't miss the Dual Sense features.

Re: Nvidia Says You're All 'Completely Wrong' About Its Controversial AI Upscaler DLSS 5

NoCode23

@ElectricWizard , the image here on the the right is more than upscaled, the color is different, the woman looks older, wrinkles added, and the soft focus filter is turned off. Who do they think they're try to fool? The image on the left could be just as sharp minus the wrinkly face.

I can do nearly the same side by side screenshot comparison of Borderlands 2 on my PS4 PRO with taking a screenshot of how I have my tv set for viewing, and then using the settings on my tv to lower the color, contrast, and sharpness for the comparison screeshot.

Re: The Original Space Invaders Blasts onto PS5, PS4 on Xmas Day

NoCode23

Learning video game tips and tricks started with Space Invaders. I leaned how to get 300 points every time I shot the flying saucer. Count the shots you fire, hits or misses, and then hit the saucer with the 23rd shot fired.

That's how my fuzzy memory remembers it, and the video here looks and sounds like what I remember playing many years ago.

Re: Random: Turns Out the PS5 Can Be a Lot Smaller, and You Can Build One Yourself

NoCode23

That custom housing is a similiar design to what I was hoping for the PS5 and then the slimmer model. The PS5 design used is just ugly, has a flimsy horizontal positioning, having all black is an extra cost, the price went up after release, and the PRO model doesn't appear to make enough difference for the difference in cost.

Still rocking with my PS4 Pro which is a noticeable upgrade over the regular PS4, is a pretty all black rectangle, can do local saves, and I can screenshot anything on the internet to quickly use as a theme.

Re: Talking Point: If Xbox Drops the Cost, Would You Be Happy Still Paying for PS6 Multiplayer?

NoCode23

I'm on PS4, can make local backup saves, and have not played online since 2024 and will not until whenver GTA6 is finally released and I might then purchase a PS5.

The deal is I want Plus Extra but there is a paywall of needing to also pay for Essential which I do not need, including the 'free" games I rarely play.

MS and then Sony may drop the fee for online play, but both will not want to lose such easy money. Both will likely then raise prices elsewhere to maintain that easy income. Cloud backup saving should not carry a fee when local backup saving was removed.

Re: Sounds Like Sony May Finally Be Starting to Wind Down PS4 Support

NoCode23

Still doing well with my PS4 Pro. If the slim PS5 had been an all black rectangle design, a ui similar to the PS4, and had a web browser I would have purchased one as soon as possible.

I still have a small backlog, the PS6 is coming, and there is the option of PC with no fees to play online. So I may just skip the PS5 gen.

Re: Borderlands 4 Dev 'Exploring' FOV Sliders on PS5 Following Player Feedback

NoCode23

An fov slider was added to the first 3 Borderlands games when ported to PS4. Borderlands 3 was released with an fov slider. Wondelands added an fov slider after release. BL4 releasing without an fov slider is puzzling.

As for performance, I have played all previous Borderlands games on my PS4 and have not noticed any change in performance when using a wider than default fov. I like an fov of 90 as 70 or 75 feels narrow and removes the feeling of peripheral vision.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for September 2025?

NoCode23

My premium sub ends this month. Right now I'm not too motivated to extend the sub. I will not need online play until GTA6 releases.

The big issue I have is that I had to pay for the online play this past year even though I only wanted the extra and the premium. So even if I still want extra now I see little reason to pay for the online until GTA6 online becomes available and there is a reason to pay for online play.

Re: Rumour: To Avoid Even More PS5 Price Increases, Digital Edition to Get Reduced SSD Space

NoCode23

Let me translate this. Sony has lots of 825GB allready in stock and already paid for, and what they don't have is now probably dirt cheap. So we get that instead of the new larger ITB. Then too that drop will hopefully prompt more purchasing additional storage.

Comparing to PS2, 3, and 4 gens a regular PS5 with disc drive and 1TB drive should now be $400, and the Pro with drive and 1TB $500. Then in 2027 a 2TB slimmer slim with 2 TB for $300. My PS2 slim was $125 new as compared to the original price of $300 for a PS2.

Yes there has been inflation and skrinkflation, but unfortunately hourly pay and salaries have not kept up with rising prices.

Re: 'The Vast Majority of Players Don't Post on Reddit' - Helldivers 2 Boss Warns of Online Tunnel Vision

NoCode23

There is problem if developers do not regularly read sites like this as well as Reddit and GTA Forums for GTA and Red Dead games. Also comments to youtube videos. All a developer needs is one gamer to sort out the negatives and trolls from the sincere. Almost any reasonable gamer can do so.

When both GTA5 and RDR2 were new the GTA Forum was a treasurer chest full of very usefull information, and still is. The trolls and trouble makers are called out quickly by the community. That one site is probable all R☆ needs for game evaluation.

Reddit has a lot of trolls but also lots of good game intormation. It's just a matter of learning to filter. Often I only need to read the title for a quick passover.

Re: Will GTA 6 Be Delayed Again? CEO Plays It Safe with His Answer

NoCode23

@darylb24
GTA6 will undoubtedly be playable at release on a PS5. However it will also then be playable on a PS6. Fall of 2027 or Fall of 2028 could be when the PS6 releases.

GTA5 released 2 months prior to the PS4 release in 2013. One year later in 2014 GTA5 was released on PS4. The longer GTA6 is delayed the more the possibility of it being released close to or when the PS6 is released.

Re: Secret New PS5 Firmware Update Out Now, Get the Patch Notes Here

NoCode23

It's a secret? So it must be the addition of the option to have the PS4 UI, folders like the PS4,themes, saves to usb drives, and a proper way to use the web browser like the PS3 and PS4 have. Also an added shape shifting ability to optionally make the PS5 into a pretty matte black rectangle shaped console.
