The Outer Worlds 2 will cost $80 to buy on the PS5, and it’s unlikely all the data will even be included on the Blu-ray if you choose to pick it up boxed.
In a Push Square poll, an incredible 53% of PS5 players said there’s “no way” they’ll stump up the extortionate sum to play the RPG sequel at launch. A further 35% said they had no interest in it to begin with. It doesn’t take Carol Vorderman to determine, then, that only 12% of the 1,000+ players polled plan to actually pick it up at launch.

Now, in an interview with GamesRadar+, director Brandon Adler has directed blame at publisher Xbox Game Studios for the amped up price point.
“We’re a game developer,” he gasped. “We love to make games. We don't set the prices for our games.
“Like, personally, as a game developer, I wish everybody could play my game, because that's what I want out of this whole thing. But for the reasons and so like, why the $79.99 price point, you'd have to honestly talk to the Xbox folks.”
Microsoft had already set expectations of $80 games earlier in the year, but many had hoped it’d be more flexible with its pricing. While we don’t particularly like it, we’d argue juggernauts like Call of Duty could withstand an increase to its MSRP, but we’re not convinced this sequel to The Outer Worlds has the juice to get away with it.
