Developer Rebellion has just released a new overview video for its upcoming action survival game, Atomfall. Set in 1960s post-apocalyptic Britain, it looks like it could be a solid alternative to titles like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Fallout, and even Far Cry.
Drawing inspiration from the real-world Windscale fire nuclear disaster, this alternate-history game has you exploring the rolling hills and quaint villages of a northern England that's harbouring supernatural entities and dark secrets.
It looks like you'll be exploring an open world environment, gathering resources in order to craft useful items and weapons, and speaking with locals to piece together what really happened.
You'll have a certain amount of freedom in how you approach the game, and the gunplay looks rock solid thanks to the team's long history of Sniper Elite titles.
There's definitely something to this game β it's looking rather promising. Seeing familiar sights like red phone boxes and cosy village pubs paired with hulking military robots and mutated enemies is certainly a bit different from other similar games.
There's not long to go before Atomfall is here ; it launches on PS5 and PS4 on 27th March 2025. Are you excited for this one? Pop the kettle on in the comments section below.

Yeah Iβm just getting more and more up for this, the closer we get to release. Big fan of Rebellion and keen to see if they can out Bethesda Bethesda.
Will get this given that its Rebellion at the helm π
I have been eyeing this for a while. Hope it's good
This might be my first βnewβ purchase of 2025.
Really up my alley. This and Sniper Elite in the first 3 months of the year, Rebellion are on fire!
Not really 100% sure about the gameplay, but I absolutely love the look of the setting so I'm definitely interested.
The setting is enough to have me interested.
Rather hopeful for this. Wot wot.
@colonelkilgore Bethesda don't even make the best Bethesda-likes in Xbox Game Studios (Obsidian beat them).
@breakneck
I liked Outer Worlds but it simply just doesn't match the scale/freedom of exploration that a Fallout game provides.
I trust Rebellion, and while these types of games arenβt in my wheelhouse, Iβm looking forward to this.
@PegasusActual93 I agree but for the budget of a pre-acquisition Obsidian did a great job
I have too many games going rn. Cyberpunk, Victory Heat Rally, Star Ocean: SSR, FFXII (it's so gorgeous to look at and hear, so I keep trying to get on with it), Doom, El Paso Elsewhere, etc etc etc. I'm going to post this and be really annoyed at myself for forgetting one of the games I'm playing.
Oh, Metal Slug Tactics. It's gorgeous and a real shame that it's also a roguelike.
All that is to say, STTTTTTToooooooop. Too many games. I want this one too...
Fallout and Far Cry married and had Atomfall? Count me very interested.
@LikelySatan Is it your first time playing FFXII? It took me a little while to get into it (only played the remaster) but itβs bloody gorgeous and the combat totally hooked me once I made liberal use of the fast forward. Scratches that MMO itch for me while being a single player game with one hell of a twisty turny narrative. Canβt believe they pulled it off on PS2.
@nessisonett Yeah, it looks a lot like Vagrant Story, which is cool by me. I've only ever fired up XII for a few hours in total. IX, VI, and Tactics are my favorites of the series. It's hard for me to get into the combat, but I will keep trying.
This looks intriguing, that's a setting we never had before. Looking forward to a lot of folklore from the British Isles!
I'm not 100% convinced by this so I'll give it a go on Game Pass.
Don't be fooled this game will release day one into game pass ultimate, but you make out it is a playstation exclusive.
I find this very disappointing, but still looking forward to this game
It has my interest. I will be checking it out.
Removed - unconstructive feedback
I'm fairly sure my last post will get deleted. π
Definitely playing this day one on GP. I live in the area it's set and so far quite accurate (minus the death and radiation lol).
