Re: 'It Felt Like Putting New Glasses On,' Claims First PS5 Pro Hands On

NoCode23

The problem is game makers not making games for the current gen hardware. 60fps should be the base minimum, then with graphics that can be sharp at 60 fps with no need to drop to 30fps for a sharp image.
PS3 games play best on PS4, PS4 games are best on PS5, so I will wait to play PS5 games the best on a PS6, while I hold back on PS6 games until the PS7 releases.

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?

NoCode23

@Don
Another comparison to the $600 release price of the PS3. First of all that PS3 at release had two models, one at $499 and the other at $599. Second that $599 model was full of features that the lower priced, $399, 360 did not have. Such features like a built in wifi, internet browser, a blu-ray player, 60GB hdd, 1080p hdmi out, Bluetooth wireless headphones and controller connection with an included wireless controller with internal battery, and no failure rate like the 360's red ring of death.

Then 3 years later the $299 120GB PS3 slim was released, one of the best game consoles ever, and evened the early sales lead the 360 had.

The price of a 5 PRO is one thing, is it needed is another. Apparently it is needed because of game makers failure to make games optimized for current gen hardware. That is graphics are prioritized over smooth 60fps performance. That is what the entire reveal contained. "Wow, oh wow, you can now have 60fps with the better graphics."

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?

NoCode23

Price is one thing while is it needed is another thing. I believe if games were made for the current gen and at a base minimum of 60fps that a mid gen Pro upgrade is then not needed to now actually have the specs to play current gen games properly.

This PS5 gen continues to disappoint. Even comedian Mark Cerny couldn't save the PS5 PRO reveal that I found cringy and basically "hey looky looky, you don't need to pick performance anymore to get 60fps. Yee doggie how about that?"

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PS5 Pro?

NoCode23

I have yet to upgrade from my PS4 PRO and will pass on the PS5 PRO. The price of $700 seems reasonable until I figure in the hidden costs of purchasing a disc drive and black side covers. The 2TB ssd is nice, but not knowing when a disc drive will be available is not nice. The biggest not nice is like with the slim model, it is still weird ugly looking.

Somewhat annoying is that the PRO is only needed because game makers do not think 60fps and the current gen first. They instead think graphics first and thus continuing the cycle of waiting to next gen or more expensive PRO model to play the good/60fps version of many games.

Re: 80s Synthpop Stars Heaven 17 Resist the Temptation of PS5's GTA 6

NoCode23

@Stragen8
Another way to look at this is product placement. That is for a fee charged to an artist that artist's song will be on an in-game radio play list or otherwise featured in the game. So here with GTAVI it could then be pay R☆ $7,500 to use your song and not R☆ will pay $7,500 to use your song.

Re: How Much Would You Pay for Your PS5 Games? Dev Says Industry Is Waiting for GTA 6 to Hike Prices

NoCode23

For me GTAVI is probably the only game that I would purchase in 2025 for a price of 80 dollars and at release. Knowing that the game will be relatively stable and provide hundreds of hours of play and replays and thus being an entertainment bargain. However GTA6 online may be a seperate one time fee and have features behind pay walls like a GTA+.

All I want with a new title is the base game. No gimmicks, no pre-order junk weapons and cloths, and no editions that include future dlc that I may not want.

Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Design Seemingly Leaked

NoCode23

Can there please be an all black model so there isn't the hidden cost of buying black panels. I will wager that if equal numbers of black models and white models were released that the blacks would sellout faster. The same wager for rectangular box over the current design.

My only issue with an add on optional disk drive is availability. I don't want a gap in time between the purchases of the console and disk drive.

Re: Preview: As Uncharted Rests, Xbox Provides PS5 Adventure in Indiana Jones

NoCode23

Definitely looking like a fun Uncharted like game. As for the first person camera: overall I enjoy 1st person because the immersion felt compared to an out of body feel of 3rd person. However with 1st person I much prefer a switch to 3rd in vehicles and in cover, a wide fov, and that I am able to look down and see my body from the waist down. More games need to have the excellent 1st and 3rd one button tap change like in Fallout and Elder Scroll games.

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024?

NoCode23

For me there is a lot that interests me and could make 2025 a very good year for AAA titles if all release in 2025. Games like Mafia Old Country, Indiana Jones, BL4, Dying Light the Beast, GTAVI, and Sniper Elite Resistance which for me could be the long desired continuation of the WW2 French resistance that I experienced in the Saboteur PS3 game.

Re: Mafia: The Old Country Takes Gangster Series Back to Its Roots on PS5

NoCode23

Excellent choice for the story with going back to the old country before the Mafia 1 story. Maybe the next game will feature a Vegas story I have wanted. Oh please release in 2025 along with hopefully BL4 and GTAVI.

Mafia 2 with Joe's Adventure dlc is my favorite, then the excellent remake of 1. Mafia 3 coming in third does not feel Mafia like the first two as it seems more GTA. However Mafia 3 was enjoyable the 3 time I played it. Great music, a more alive world than 1 and 2, and also big nasty gators to play with and feed.

Re: Borderlands 4 Announced, Coming to PS5 in 2025

NoCode23

I'm a fan of the Borderlands series, so my hopes are that BL4 takes some of the best from the previous games and adds some good new stuff. It could be interesting to have the story be prior to Borderlands 1.

Anyway 2025 is starting to look good with BL4 and GTAVI scheduled for release. Please Mafia 4 also.

Re: Best Borderlands Games

NoCode23

Number one: The Handsome Collection. It has BL2, Pre-Sequel, dlc to both games minus the Fight for Sanctuary BL2 dlc, and all with upgraded graphics, improved frame rates, and faster loading from the PS3 originals.

Number two: Borderlands 1 on PS4. Has all dlc with improved graphics, frame rates, and loading times from PS3 original.

Re: Movie Review: Borderlands - As Bland As the Brand It's Based On

NoCode23

A younger cast of unknowns with maybe some cameos of known acters/stars would be my preference. The cast used are too old except Tiny Tina, and I just can't help thinking of their previous stuff.

Overall I would rather see a movie that is a parody all the way. A movie like Airplane, Not Another Teen Movie, Kentucky Fried Movie, and others.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Summer Gaming Habits?

NoCode23

My playing habits are the same year round and I play what I desire, new or old, replay or first play. That desire currently is Fallout 4 with the latest update, GTA SA definitive edition, and Just Cause 4, and all on my old PRO.

Re: GTA 6: Everything We Know So Far

NoCode23

I'm cautiously optimistic that GTA 6 will still be GTA and have a fun, "I can't stop playing it", single player story and sandbox to play in.

To be honest my hype meter is at zero. I need some trailers and a close hard release date for some hype to register.

Re: Legendary Zombie Game Dead Rising Gets a Second Remaster, Out in 2024

NoCode23

Meanwhile four years later: still waiting for remasters/remakes of Total Overdose, Scarface, GTA4, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Dino Crisis 1 and 2, Mercenaries 2, Saints Row 1 and 2, and others.

Is this an updated remaster of the DR game that I did not like, and only played a couple of hours because it all seemed to be annoying clock watching time crucial game play? It has been many years and I believe the first DR game is the DR game that I downloaded and played on my PS3.

Re: GTA 6 Fans Nervous As GTA Online Locks Crucial Quality of Life Feature Behind GTA+ Sub on PS5, PS4

NoCode23

From day one online content has had a wall in GTAO, either in grind time or real money shark cards. GTA+ only offers the real money option for some features. I can easily imagine online for GTA6 sold separately like an add on dlc. From there either a monthly fee or an expanded GTA+ for some of the content/features.

The putting of auto collecting safe money from our businesses behind a real money pay wall is just plain incredibly pathetic.

Re: Ex-Sony Boss Shawn Layden Explains How to Make Games Faster, Cheaper

NoCode23

Making lot of game that 68% do not see doesn't mean much without who, what, and why. The percentage of not finished games could also increase with subs like Gamepass and Plus where sampling is easy. That along with long games that are not easy to resume play after an extended absence, and thus may need a restart.

I like both long and short games. However the longer the game the more there is to manage like inventories, leveling, perks, and more along with lots of tiny text to read to hopefully have it all explained well. Long games need to be more long game play and less management and internet searches to explain stuff.

Graphics are very important, but 4K photo realism is not at the top of the list. Graphics for me need to be sharp and not blurry along with good animation and lipsync. That can be provided 720p-1080p. 60fps needs to be the minimum as it makes the graphics smoother. Why have photo looking 4K if it just just blurs with camera movement.

Overall I want a variety of game lengths , but do not need photorealism or complicated management. Least of all I don't want teeny tiny text or to hear a developer say " it's cinematic".

Re: GTA 6 Is Still At Least a Year Away, But GTA Online's New Free PS5, PS4 Update Looks Decent

NoCode23

@aj21009 , The online play is the expansion of GTAV. The new playable character is us the players, the story is our story. No it is not like the expansions and dlc of GTAIV and other single player games, but the depth of the online play easily replaces traditional expansions/dlc.

Also the online has always had solo and invite only lobbies, except for some features, however there were tricks to play solo in an open public lobby and now all can be played solo or private.

Re: Rumour: Borderlands 4 Is 2K's Big SGF Announcement

NoCode23

New Bioshock, Borderlands, and Mafia? How about doing like Bethesda did at E3 2015 with Fallout 4 and announce hard release dates in 5 months for this coming November. Would make 2025 a special year for me and I will finally upgrade from my 7 year old PRO.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Mods Are Coming to PS5, with Official PC Modding Tools Set for September

NoCode23

@tangyzesty, Mods are codes, codes are mods. The early definition on consoles was cheats because it offered easy wins with invincibility and unlimited ammo. Mods are associated with PC gaming as along with easy win cheats were community created stuff like new maps and missions.

I played more games on a PS2 than other systems prior to the PS3. Those games had codes for car colors, car modifications, changing the weather, slowing down or speeding game play, recruiting npc's to join your character, walk through walls, breath under water, spawn vehicles, jump higher, run faster, and much more. Not making a new map or missions mods, but mods none the less.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Mods Are Coming to PS5, with Official PC Modding Tools Set for September

NoCode23

@CutchuSlow , The Game Genie was released in 1990. It was a device with codes and it plugs into the Nintendo console like a game cartridge.

The PS1 and PS2 Has codes for most games on GameShark disks, disks from other companies, and or, controller inputted codes that come on the game disk. The PS3 and PS4 only have controller inputted codes other than Skyrim and Fallout 4 on PS4 and PS5 that I know of.

My research has the Konami controller inputted code starting with Gradius in 1986 for the 8 bit NES.

All of those old mod codes were referred to as cheat codes on consoles but provided more changes than just infinite health and ammo.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Mods Are Coming to PS5, with Official PC Modding Tools Set for September

NoCode23

@tangyzesty, consoles games have had mods other than Skyrim and FO4. My first use of mods were with the SNES console in 1993. Mods were very common with PS1 and PS2 console games, but became very rare starting with the PS3 console. However those mods were called cheats and not mods.

Thankfully Fallout 4 has mods where just a few simple mods improve the game without feeling like cheating. Mods like improved settlement scrapping, improving weather, improving graphics, and cleaning settlers dirty faces. Game enjoyment easily overcomes trophies being disabled.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 530

NoCode23

My second Fallout 4 weekend. I am just no hurry cruising at this point, level 29, and I have yet to visit Fog Harbor and Nuka World.

My Sanctuary settlement is at 20 people and 2 dogs. All the shops created, a nice pub built, eight 40 gallon water purifiers, and machine guns and missile turrets for defense.

Like my previous plays of FO4 I wish my settlers looked better. At least they could wash their faces after being rescued. I may give some settler mods a try.

Re: Here's Your First Look at Fallout in Fortnite on PS5, PS4

NoCode23

I don't play Fortnite, but I have thousands of hours of GTA and Fallout games. How about Fallout in GTA 5 online?

A Fallout update could include clothing, vault suits, power armor, plasma/laser weapons, a vault residence to purchase, some weird new missions, and maybe some nasty giant rad scorpions.
