Absolutely nothing to complain about, especially when the Xbox 1 normally has between 3-5 ads at all times on the dashboard that you cannot remove. I'd take one ad for Black Friday as more of a courtesy to let me know it's available than think it was intrusive.
Poor journalism, this game has never been an exclusive. Don't use Microsoft's trademark tactics to make Xbox seem more appealing by calling multiplatform games 'exclusive'. If it exists elsewhere, it cannot be called exclusive, adding 'console' in front of it doesn't change the fact that it's multiplatform.
Only when we stop pretending the Xbox has any value will we finally get an Xbox that does, but right now the One (and so far Scarlett too) are worthless.
Impossible to avoid? Some of the easiest media to avoid. After watching the first 6 I gave up on Star Wars. Haven't seen a single good movie from that franchise yet!
This game however, has looked absolutely amazing since the first reveal and my two closest friends echo that pretty loudly. Here's to a Black Friday purchase.
DOA, and it's not even a question. With all the bad news surrounding this thing, the fact you have to maintain a subscription to play the games you BOUGHT, and next gen coming there is simply no reason for anyone to invest in this, not a single one.
Pokémon Sword and Shield with the wife, doing cleanup on Witcher 3, getting my feet wet with Death Stranding, and expecting an Invert Y patch for Luigi's Mansion 3 very soon so I can actually play it.
I mean, the very event here was to help ring in the fact they're going 3rd party. Being able to connect to a competitors controller should have been an obvious development.
Oh well, further showing that Xbox fans are as bad as, if not worse than, R* fans.
Considering it was always known to eventually come to PC, any gamer who stays up to date knew it wasn't an exclusive. As for review bombers, they're a cancer and their mom needs to revoke their internet access because they can't be older than 8 or 9.
Hopefully one of them sees this comment, though I fear they won't be intelligent enough to read it much less respond with any valid criticism...
Personally I would have picked Ghostbusters, then MediEvil. CoD would have appeared nowhere on the list as I don't play trash and I'm waiting on Black Friday for Outer Worlds. Currently trying to get through Witcher 3 while waiting on my Death Stranding PS4 bundle.
Is this article serious? There is nothing MS is or was doing to make Sony sweat, premium controllers included. Xbox will soon be a 3rd party publishing brand, nothing more.
Help me out here, I don't see any free games at all. I see you having to pay for a service that allows you access to these games, many of which can be purchase for $10 or less depending on whether or not they're in another flash/publisher sale this week or next. Very poor value indeed but people are gullible to overpaying.
@Morenoj1220 Nobody needs to invest more into multiplayer games, we don't need more of that shallow junk nor anymore GAAS flooding the market with trash. Everyone laughed at Iwata for calling multiplayer games a fad yet look around, every 3-4 years they go through a 'revival' to keep them engaging (because they're boring and shallow) and companies continue to find new ways to exploit the gullible. They are literally the cancer of gaming and need to be drastically reduced. Then look at how strong single players games remain. They were supposed to "die" 10 years ago and never once faltered. They continue to offer unique and memorable experiences and most don't feature any of the cancer that multiplayer games are so keen on spreading.
The worst thing to happen to gaming by far was the rise in popularity and the casual crowd hopping on CoD and the like.
Not a member. I don't support anti-consumer services like this and Gamepass. If you stop and think about it for more than 5 minutes, a subscription service in gaming is pretty stupid on the consumer's end. Then again we live in a subscription heavy environment and people have already proven they're too stupid to see just how bad it is so whatever, it's their money. In 5 years when they're complaining I'll just smile and move along.
@BAMozzy Exclusivity matters greatly to gamers, that's the sole reason to own a console and it breeds competition. If we take the entitled mindset of "no exclusives", you'd see no competition. This is why Xbox is failing hard and going 3rd party. Even Stadia is going to have AAA first party (exclusive) content because several platforms that all carry the same library without unique content all end in failure. For some gamers it is odd to see them mad or upset about a game going multiplatform like it is here, but for most who are upset about it they know what this continued trend will bring. As MS ventures deeper into becoming a 3rd party publisher, and their continued support of anti-consumer services and subscription models, they're tricking gamers into a "value". If they continue to make money doing this, eventually it will lead everyone to doing the same thing. We absolutely need Sony, Nintendo, and oddly Stadia to push out these enormous exclusive games. Death Stranding initially being advertised to have a PC port isn't that bad, we already knew, but exclusivity needs to get stronger.
It is nice to see some intelligent individuals though that understand "console exclusive" is a fancy word for multiplatform, and part of MS' failures this gen.
MediEvil was great, got the Platinum yesterday. Concrete Genie however, having all that advertising, just didn't look interesting. The first time I saw it I was intrigued but the more I saw of it, the less I cared for it.
@ApostateMage It'll honestly still look like garbage. Not a single GTA game has ever looked good, nor been good. Why people give any kind of accolades to R* is beyond me...
As long as they don't pull an Xbox One X with "world's most powerful" and then proceed to not actually use the power. Not a single game was developed for that box making it the "world's most gullible purchase" aside from carbon offsets.
Well, nothing from PS+ is free, that's the biggest danger right now. I've always said PSNow and Gamepass are anti-consumer because they are. Netflix for games doesn't work for consumers, there is no value on our end with these services, and it takes less than 5 minutes to realize it.
Aside from the Trump comment (stop believing the made up liberal media, that's another issue altogether) what he speaks is the truth. Gaming is about to get worse if people continue subbing to services, you haven't got a clue...
Scalpers should be the least of your concerns, supporting this communist company is what should bother you. Can't believe people are so selfish they would still consider buying this trash.
@GodGamer you hit the nail on the head regarding TW3. Overall the game is incredibly clunky and lackluster. That is simply the truth about the game when compared to other RPGs. Cyberpunk 2077 is honestly looking like a dud that's being overhyped by running with TW3's popularity. The truth is, and nobody can deny it, when you have to bring/include a celebrity in your game, you're already concerned with the quality. Keanu was the tell I needed to stay away from this game.
Sunset Overdrive 2, with pre-orders granting access to Sunset Overdrive Deluxe edition. A new Ratchet and Clank after that, then Spider-Man 2. However it also depends on what Sucker Punch is doing, if they're coming out with another inFamous title, I say Insomniac should lead with R&C, so we don't have two super human titles competing. Then I'd bring SO2 out, followed by SM2.
I do think Sony should allocate the necessary funds so they can hire appropriately for these projects, they will all sell well on PlayStation. Poor Sunset Overdrive, it deserved better.
I am ready for this game, but with Medievil and Luigi's Mansion 3 right there with it, and TOW most likely receiving some sort of DLC in the future, I'll wait for the eventual GOTY edition. I've got too much to play now to add another game that I won't get to until the price goes down. Plus, Black Friday is close, I wouldn't buy a multiplatform game for full price next to BF.
@StarWarsfan5843 not a wrestling fan nor a sports gaming fan, but if they really had a good platform you'd get something that looked and played like it belongs in the current generation. I say it all the time, these sports games need to build an engine from the ground up for their dedicated sport, something extremely high tier, and pack it full of content. Then, for the next 4 years, offer a literal season pass to coincide with each new annual season that updates the entire roster, brings in new modes, adds a fresh coat of paint, carries over your legacy, etc for $20. Throughout each season the game will receive multiple updates to ensure it stays current and in a favorable state.
That would be better I think I'm fans eyes, and the devs don't have to rush to push out another s****y annual title on an outdated engine that can't do what they're hoping. Unfortunately since fans like yourself drop $60+ on broken pieces of s*** every year, you'll never see these games get better. They have a monopoly and you have a weak backbone.
@redd214 Anti-consumer services are not viable options. If you enjoy paying 2-3x for a single game then that's on you, but the intelligent consumer knows full well that streaming games is for the foolish. Netflix works because a single piece of content can be consumed in 30 minutes to 2 hours on average. If you take a month to play a 20 hour game, that's $10 already for that one game. Problem is, you won't just play that one game. By the time you finish it, you most likely will be over the cost to own the game. And please don't tell me you're one of the ones who are playing multiplayer games through it, because then I'll know you can't have any sense talked into you.
I got a friend who has used Gamepass strictly for Sea of Thieves since launch day. The sad part? He's not a rare statistic. Most people use it to play 1 or 2 games with dedication while trying out several games they never would have bought for an hour a piece, and then saying the service has paid for itself. A fool and his money...
@Splat Not really saving money then, are you? Gamepass is a rip off as well as being an extremely anti-consumer service. Game streaming needs to be dropped and every single person supporting it is killing this hobby. If you get angry at that or feel the need to defend it, don't. Just remember that feeling in 5 years when everything has gone to sh*t and you're finally (yet far too late) realizing the negative impact you contributed towards.
It'll still sell 3x the amount than on Xbox because gamers know 4k isn't a selling point in the grand scheme of things. As for Gamepass, it's an anti-consumer service, and even though the quotes indicate appropriately here, nothing on it is free. You will never get the value from a streaming service for games that you think you're getting. All you're doing is overpaying, at least if you keep the service active for longer than a month.
BC is great for early adopters, and I for one would love it for digital PS3 purchases, but I'm far more focused on new games and moving forward. I welcome BC, don't get me wrong, but if I haven't played/completed a game yet the most likely scenario is I won't ever. At least not until the gaming industry does something that makes me stop buying anything current and focus entirely on past generations, which is looking likely with Microsoft's anti-consumer push into services and features rather than games.
Any consumer that supports streaming subscriptions as a viable future needs to be effectively stricken of gaming, you're ruining the hobby for those of us that care about it.
@Cutmastavictory Not when Nintendo owns the publishing rights. Much like Bayonetta 2 and 3, if not for Nintendo MUA3 simply would not exist.
As for PS5 and Spider-Man 2, I can't wait. The first game captured everything about Spider-Man from his mannerisms, his social life, the baddies, and his movement flawlessly. It felt like playing a comic book written by Stan the Man himself, and that ending was perfect. I can't wait to see what they do next.
This isn't even an issue and anyone who complains about this needs to look at the Xbox One dashboard and count the number of ads that you cannot remove, then rethink their complaint with Sony. My X1 currently has 5 ads, I'll take 1 I can make disappear without a thought.
As always it simply doesn't matter. While it's nostalgic to have that jump, no adult cares about the graphics. Exclusive games are why you buy a console and Sony have proven each and every generation that they can deliver. They have an automatic sale with me, just like Nintendo. MS on the other hand has done nothing in the last 3 years except convince the world there's no reason to buy Scarlett.
Well, duh. The Pro and the X were machines made for the gullible. Every single game is made for the base model, quite obviously, to ensure the majority of owners can play the game without issue. I honestly figured this was common sense and didn't need to be said to anyone other than the Xbox crowd.
Nintendo Switch exclusive Ori and the Blind Forest ( if MS/media can call a multiplatform game exclusive, so can I!), probably going to pick up Ni No Kuni, playing a bit of Borderlands 3 and possibly some private Horde in Gears 5.
God no. TLoU multiplayer component was absolutely awful in every sense. Then again so is 99% of all multiplayer games. I can't think of anything more shallow, void of content, and boring than a multiplayer game. Yup, let's run one of eight maps for a year or so at two minutes apiece and call it quality replayability. Single player games offer you so much more but if you want the bottom of the barrel, least effort required, double paywall experience... Go for it. Leave the games for the gamers.
Sounds right as NA is the biggest market in gaming. I myself have 2 consoles... Actually 2 of every current gen machine, game sharing with the wife and kids is the best.
I'll say it again, the fact this shocked anybody is shocking. For gaming journalists and the media as well, if you didn't know it's been cross since the beginning, you're in the wrong business. Same goes for fans. How can you be a fan and not know the proper, correct terminology? Either way I suppose that can be excused, what can't be excused however is the ignorance like "I've always called it X so that's how it'll stay" or "no normal person called it cross". Wrong is wrong, and you're simply wrong. Get over it, the button is a cross, Sony has always called it that, and that's just the way it is. Nothing worse than a person who refuses to admit they're wrong and won't change to accept reality.
Sorry, no, most sane people would call it by its correct name which happens to be 'cross'. It take 5 seconds for an intelligent individual to understand the other three buttons are shapes/symbols, so why would you even consider the last one wasn't? The Nintendo controller doesn't go A, B, Y, 9 does it? No, it's alphabetical like the Xbox controller. Factor in decades of common knowledge regarding this concept and you're left with the only logical understanding that anyone calling it 'X' is simply uneducated.
The factually worst part of each of those games, and shouldn't have been bothered with during development, is being taken away. There's nothing bad about this. Multiplayer gaming is incredibly shallow and devoid of meaningful content. I personally hate GAAS but love how they're removing multiplayer from excellent single player games and herding non-gamers into a different format.
So much praise for such an anti-consumer game and game model. You all should really be ashamed of yourselves for letting trash like this prosper. A redemption story can be a great one, if it didn't start with deception. Absolutely beyond ridiculous that this game is being praised in any capacity and if you can't understand that and support this game, then you're half the reason this hobby is going down.
Much too vague. For a guy supposedly running the show in terms of games, he should already know what they're going to do. For starters, MS doesn't do exclusives and hasn't since 2015. They have become the biggest 3rd party publisher since then and even Phil Spencer has made it very clear that "he doesn't care how many consoles he sells". They make too much money as a 3rd party. Secondly, if the game does poorly as a multiplatform title, they aren't going to foot the bill for an exclusive sequel... That's absurd to suggest. Therefore the only logical reasoning here is if the game does well, they will green light a sequel for another multiplatform release. Anyone with any intelligence knows it's going to sell 3:1 with PS4 taking the victory. Hell I imagine even the Switch will sell more copies than the XBO version will.
Finally, for anyone having trouble with this discussion, the parameters don't matter. If 1 game releases on more than 1 platform (meaning a different SKU had to be assigned for distribution, not a streaming app), then it is multiplatform regardless of who owns it.

Nintendo Switch exclusive Ori and the Blind Forest ( if MS/media can call a multiplatform game exclusive, so can I!), probably going to pick up Ni No Kuni, playing a bit of Borderlands 3 and possibly some private Horde in Gears 5.
Re: Soapbox: The Last of Us Online Should Be PlayStation's Next Big Multiplayer Hit
Re: Talking Point: What Free October 2019 PlayStation Plus Games Do You Want?
Did you mean to say 'free'? I only ask because I have to pay for the service to acquire these games, which by default does not make them free.
Re: North America Accounts for Nearly a Third of All PS4s with Over 30 Million Units Sold
Sounds right as NA is the biggest market in gaming. I myself have 2 consoles... Actually 2 of every current gen machine, game sharing with the wife and kids is the best.
Re: Sunset Overdrive Is Owned by PlayStation, Sony Confirms
The game hasn't been exclusive for awhile now, long before it became Sony's property.
Most likely we'll see SO2 after Spider-Man 2, with a port of SO in between to catch PlayStation fans up to speed. All on PS5 of course.
Re: Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered - Level-5’s Masterpiece Is Tidier Than Ever
This game is so wonderful, I'm buying it twice; one copy for PS4, and another for Switch.
Re: The Internet Is Cross with PlayStation's Name for the X Button
Re: The Last of Us: Part 2 Finally Returns Later This Month
I am so ready for this game
Re: It's All Over: The X Button Is Officially Pronounced 'Cross'
Sorry, no, most sane people would call it by its correct name which happens to be 'cross'. It take 5 seconds for an intelligent individual to understand the other three buttons are shapes/symbols, so why would you even consider the last one wasn't? The Nintendo controller doesn't go A, B, Y, 9 does it? No, it's alphabetical like the Xbox controller. Factor in decades of common knowledge regarding this concept and you're left with the only logical understanding that anyone calling it 'X' is simply uneducated.
Re: Uncharted 2, 3, and The Last of Us PS3 Multiplayer Servers Go Offline Tomorrow
Re: Talking Point: What Free September 2019 PS Plus Games Do You Want?
I'd love a free game at least once, too bad you have to pay for them.
Re: No Man's Sky Beyond Is Available to Download Now on PS4
So much praise for such an anti-consumer game and game model. You all should really be ashamed of yourselves for letting trash like this prosper. A redemption story can be a great one, if it didn't start with deception. Absolutely beyond ridiculous that this game is being praised in any capacity and if you can't understand that and support this game, then you're half the reason this hobby is going down.
Re: Obsidian RPG The Outer Worlds Could End Up Becoming an Xbox Exclusive Franchise
