Love the mainline Borderlands games, and Tales is also great! Totally different, obviously, but a good story, well written and well acted characters, and definitely worth playing!

Remnant 2 is currently alternating between being really fun exploration and combat, and kicking my ass hard! Doing a second run through of the campaign, and will play all the DLC campaigns, but the difficulty spikes really deflate my fun and enthusiasm for this one. Will kill a couple of weeks with this and more Borderlands 4 before playing Dragon Age: Veilguard over the hols.

@Americansamurai1 I don’t think it’s quite that high. I feel like we would have seen articles about it if that was the case. I think PS2 sold that many units and it’s possibly the best selling console of all time (Switch may beat it, if it hasn’t already).

@LifeGirl Absolutely. And with the upcoming RAM price hikes and so on, it would be wise to wait until costs become a bit more reasonable and a greater technological leap will be possible. Plenty of untapped potential still in the PS5.

Good pedigree, sure, but this looks pretty dull.

Why not just make Titanfall 3?! People WANT that. This game looks both generic and like it’s trying to do too many things.

Looks interesting, especially since it’s a single player game. But I don’t think it’s a roguelite at all. I certainly hope it isn’t anyway. There’s enough damn roguelites out there.

Played first on PS5, around two years after its disastrous release. Loved it. The first “open world” game since GTA 5 that I just wandered around, soaking in the atmosphere. A stunning sci fi city, and a great game!

@Nf157 I was thinking the same thing. Not really a lot of interesting info to dig into. Felt the same way about Spotify this year (though they supposedly laid off a whole bunch of people who used to handle the year end wrap and got AI to do most of it).

@andykara2003 If you listen to and believe Digital Foundry as I do, then almost certainly not. My guess? Maybe a 40 fps mode, but the power delta between base and Pro is not enough to double the framerate (especially considering that the CPU is barely more powerful).

@Northern_munkey Same. My bundled controller sucks on battery life, and it has crazy stick drift. Newer controllers last a lot longer and haven’t drifted (yet).

Looks very cool! Will wait to see how the final product turns out. I will say the gameplay graphics seemed like a big step down from the cut scenes, but that’s not the worst thing in the world.

Brutal market these days. Though it sounded like this game just didn’t have that much to do when playing it. Shame that the OG Burnout devs on this one are out of work again.

There's taking on fan suggestions about game mechanics and so on, and then there's losing your identity by just doing everything the way they want. At that point, you might as well pack it in. Glad they're sticking to their guns.

Cerny was the breath of fresh air Sony needed to break them out of the run of convoluted, fussy hardware. I hope he stays with them for a long time.

Oh look, the turkey arrived in time for Christmas. A pretty underwhelming month to end the year. Neon White looks OK, I guess.

This is going to take a long time, because the majority of the devs are working on Marathon.

The hardware itself is great, as is to be expected from Sony. The software, especially the first party lineup, has been good, but nowhere near as good as last gen (and especially the PS360 gen).

Hugely overrated. Was hoping for a sort of second coming of Gears, but instead got a ***** Soulslike where the shooting gets pushed aside for impossible-to-time-with-all-the-visual-clutter parries. Had a few moments of fun with it, but overall…massive disappointment. Props to the devs for supporting it so well, though.

I find it a bit baffling that the majority of these “it happens on…” ads don’t directly reference Sony’s games. Yes, I know about the Astrobot one which is good, but the reptile tail coming out of the wall? What game is that? If someone were to ask that question, I could only guess badly or shrug. Why not leverage Sony’s iconic IP?

Gotta be GTA6. If Sony are smart, they’ll sew up the marketing rights and make it seem like PS5 is the only place to play the game (until the PC release of course). Even smarter: a wee price drop for PS5 when the game comes out, or a reasonably priced bundle.

@Balaam_ I’m just too old for twitch shooters now. And it just gets old fast. I’d rather have a beautiful world to go exploring in and computer controlled chumps to slay.

No way it’s to signify PS4/PS5 cross buy. They’ve been doing that for five years now and have very clear logos that make it obvious that you’re getting both versions. Hopefully this is for PlayStation/PC, as others have pointed out.

Great month for me! Looking forward to Stray and EA WRC 24. People whining about “having Stray before” on PS Extra need to remember lots of people don’t have Extra…and now it’s available to all subscribers AND for keeps!

Stray and EA WRC 24 are both games that I’ve wanted to play, and almost bought, so great month for me! The third one looks like crap, though.

Highly doubt that anyone is “happy” paying for online gaming. But I’ve been doing it since the 360 era, so I’m used to it. And the “free” games and cloud saves are nice value (though Microsoft offers the latter for free, as far as I know). I highly doubt Sony will make it free; too much money to be made and too much of a hassle. Also, Sony are showing their arrogance this gen and know they’ve got a lot of us by the short and curlies. They’ll just tout the “great value” of PS Plus and continue to charge for it (and increase prices of course). Having said that, the “free” games this year have been a noticeable step up in quality. But why not also give away some older PlayStation exclusives as well (like Returnal, Demon’s Souls, etc.)?

If Microsoft hadn’t been so greedy and gone on a massive shopping spree, they wouldn’t be doing this. They’re doing it because they HAVE to do it. Still, it’s a good outcome for PlayStation gamers, so hooray!

Looks great! Don’t care about lack of PvP as I don’t really play that anymore. Two niggles: they missed a trick by not making it FOUR player splitscreen (though I know people don’t actually get together to game as often as they did), and…the price. Not announced yet, but if they get greedy and charge full price for this, I’ll wait until it’s on sale. If they’re smart and price it at $40 ($50 max), I’m there day one.

My excitement is muted a bit by the fact that they’re not putting the Master Chief Collection on PS5. That’s all I really need. But hey, there’s more money to be made by releasing them separately, so that’s what Microsoft is gonna do.

If I still had my old job, which involved WFH and a lot of "hurry up and wait", I would totally buy a portal. Alas...right now I just don't have the need.

@Skippermonkey I feel like all of the first party stuff really knows how to use that SSD for lightning quick load times.
