Re: Hands On: Marathon Is Dense, Demanding, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

Tried this last night for a few hours. The funnest part was playing co-op with my friend so we could bitch about how tough it was, how there’s no point getting cool loot because you lose it all if you’re killed, and Bungie’s insistence on using mouse type controls in their (horrible) menus. Seriously, the UI for this game is terrible. Oh, and the cooldowns are absurd, there’s not enough ammo around, and healing items are too hard to find. Both of us felt sad, as this will be the first Bungie game we WON’T be buying in over 20 years. They should have made Destiny 3, or something else (preferably non-live service). I don’t think this will be another Concord, but it’s going to have a pretty small audience, methinks.

Re: Rumour: Sony Backtracking on PC Strategy, Shifting Towards PS5 Exclusivity Again

Part of me feels sad they’re pulling back on this. While keeping games off Xbox made sense (when they were still actual competition), I liked the idea of PC gamers getting some Sony love. The PC space feels so different from the console space that it doesn’t feel like competition in some ways. But if the juice ain’t worth the squeeze, it’s hard to argue that they should continue porting to PC as much.

Re: 'The Plan's the Plan Until It's Not the Plan': Xbox All Over the Place on Future PS5 Ports

No way they’ll stop putting games on PS5. They’re making way too much money doing that. They MAY have longer windows for Xbox exclusivity on first party releases, but as has been mentioned, GamePass is cannibalizing their sales on their own platform. I think GamePass will be neutered at least somewhat to incentivize people to buy more games on Xbox, and they may keep some smaller games exclusive (lower budgets make this feasible), but I don’t think we’ll see any really big swings under the new leadership. She’ll be looking to leverage AI to lower costs ans streamline processes.
