The game sounds disappointing. I’m playing Skyrim again (only my second playthrough in 14 years!), and it still holds up brilliantly. Yes, it’s missing some quality of life stuff and can be a bit clunky in some regards, but the open world, the deep gameplay, and of course the soundtrack are brilliant. Sounds like Starfield doesn’t move the needle much. I’ll probably play it when it’s deeply discounted.

I bet it’ll be on PS5 as well. I think uptake of the next gen is going to be at least as slow as this gen, and the PS6 is not going to be such a massive leap over PS5 that the game can’t be run on the older hardware.

Great game. Unfortunately the combat is the weakest part, but the writing, quests, and characters are so good that I can forgive it. Will probably give it a whirl on PS5 one day, but am neck deep in Skyrim right now!

This game is going down, bar a miracle.

Playing Skyrim, which I haven’t played since 2011! Holds up quite well, although obviously some quality of life features that we have now are glaring in their absence. But loving it again. Also Borderlands 3, a new Fl4k playthrough. Man, have I got my money out of that game…must have put 200 hours into it on PS5, and am nearing 120 on PS5!

If they’d released this at a cheaper price, it would sell better. As is, I’ll just wait until it’s on sale. Also, sub par performance on PS5 is inexcusable, when DOOM Eternal runs perfectly smoothly. I know it’s a new version of the engine, but they know how to code for PS5 now.

A subscription to a games library just isn’t for me. I don’t play enough in terms of volume, and the FOMO of losing out on games being delisted make it not worth it. I’d rather buy a game on sale and play it at my own pace and when I want. I can see the appeal for others, but…nah.

Even Essential isn’t good value. Cloud saves and online gaming are things that Sony shouldn’t be charging for, and the “free” monthly games vary wildly in quality (though I’ll admit they’re on a bit of a roll lately).

@MrPeanutbutterz I missed out on Motorstorm, but would love to see one on PS5! And WipeOut…a new PS5 instalment would be awesome!

Looks generic, other than the graphics. They haven’t done a good job of explaining what makes this game special. Considering it’s from one of the minds behind GTA, I would expect something interesting, but I’m just not seeing it.

@GuttyYZ I’m sure a lot of people in the poll, including you and me, can’t afford to play this new and are waiting for a sale. Nothing wrong with that! Sometimes the best game to play is the waiting game.

I’m only concerned if it screws up other releases by pushing them later. Games are taking too long as it is without arbitrary delays.

I’ll be playing this tonight! So much fun with friends. The new weapon attachments sounds like a cool addition! The game is still kinda buggy though, with player and weapon models disappearing.

I’m waiting for the wax cylinder edition.

Seems crazy to go to all the trouble of manufacturing and shipping discs, and then just putting a few MBs on a disc that holds 100 GB.

I hope they don’t jack the price. In general, of course, because it’s a bad idea (especially for digital, which has no associated manufacturing and shipping costs). But also because it will put a huge damper on the goodwill from the fans, who mostly like the changes and improvements they’re bringing to the game.

A few thoughts: firstly, in terms of a “killer app” for PS5 Pro: devs have to be careful to not alienate and piss off the tens of millions of existing base PS5 players by making a game that’s awesome on Pro but pretty crappy on base. That would also potentially sabotage future generations: why would I buy a PS6 when PS6 will come out a few years later and just be the “proper” console to play games on?

Another thought for me: I would only get a PS5 Pro if my base PS5 died (please don’t), BUT I’m excited that, by all appearances, the Pro upgrades will work on my PS6 when I get one (if the world hasn’t ended by then).

@glennthefrog I hope so, too. But I think they will. They could easily have released Gears 1-3 in a collection, but they didn’t do that. I think they’ll milk Master Chief. Still excited we’re getting Halo, but I don’t think Microsoft will be “generous” and sell the collection as a whole.

Considering all the devs they’ve bought, they bloody well better be the top publisher…

I’m a fan of the series, but it does need freshening up, and that state of play made it look like Gearbox are doing exactly that with Borderlands 4. Love the new traversal, the overhaul to the loot system, and the summonable vehicle. Yes, some of the tweaks look like they ripped of Destiny, but that’s not a bad thing, based on how that game plays. Now, let’s see if they’ve improved fast travel, saves, and the clunky inventory system…

This is great, but I’d still rather have functionality that we had on PS4, like unlimited games on the Home Screen and a more robust MP3 player.

Will wait for a sale. In terms of the films, the first is a stone cold classic and one of my favourite films of all time, and Last Crusade is great too.

Love the game, but got off the treadmill awhile ago when they started charging for expansions AND season passes. Now to get “all” of the content, you have to spend around $100 a year and that’s just to steep for what I’m getting.

Digital Foundry know their stuff. If they say it’s comparable to PS4, then that’s the case. Switch 2 fans are just in denial. You don’t buy a Nintendo console for its power.

They’re not exactly endearing themselves to their Destiny fanbase, and extraction shooters are pretty niche, so no wonder a lot of people aren’t excited. But it’s Bungie, and they make great shooters, so I’ll give it a shot on a free trial or a beta.

I want to like this, but the fact that PvP is always a part of it and, more importantly, the fact that it sounds like you lose all of your gear if you die makes this likely a pass for me. Will still give it a go for free, but doubt it’s gonna be my next Destiny.

The original trilogy were great games…one of the many reasons I was glad I chose 360 over PS3 back in the day. As long as they include split screen co op for the campaign and horde mode, I’d pick this up. More interested in Master Chief, though, although talk of the collection being incomplete has cooled my enthusiasm.

Sigh. Another roguelike? Enough with the roguelikes!

Dear god. More unnecessary remasters? They’ll probably sell very well, sadly. But they save me money…because I don’t buy ‘em!

That’s why I bought a 2 tb expansion drive for my PS5 on day one: even with the touted compression, I knew games were still going to be big and didn’t want to have to constantly juggle installed games.

This seems too niche to appeal to a large audience. And extraction shooters aren’t my thing.But I love Bungie, so we’ll see what they’ve got.

I’m a huge Bungie fan, but I’m just not excited about this one. An extraction shooter? Yawn. Say what you want about Destiny 2, but at least it has a variety of game modes and activities. Maybe I’ll be proved wrong, but I don’t think that this will have the appeal or success of Destiny.

Agree with others in the comments: you really need to have more than a hundred games on your wishlist?! That’s WAY more than I’d ever need!

I should have known they’d be too greedy to release the complete MCC. But as long as the original trilogy is available, that’s not too bad. But I don’t think they’ll release them individually for $70 each. That’s a bit too greedy.

Not sure that I like the emphasis on melee in a shooter, especially Doom.

I thought that Microsoft were encouraged by the sales of those ports? And openly said so? Surely that’s what matters most. And, as mentioned, the upcoming titles (Forza Horizon and Indy) are MUCH bigger titles.

I must admit, I’ve already scored three games that I was circling, so that’s great for me! Dragon Age and Robocop were real surprises.
