Arrowhead has today issued a major game update for its popular co-op shooter, Helldivers 2, and it comes with an explosive new addition to the arsenal.

The Bastion tank headlines the update, a fondly remembered vehicle from the original Helldivers that makes its return in the sequel.

Players will need to put it to good use as the game's ever-evolving narrative sees a full-on warpath towards Cyberstan, the home planet of the Automatons, who have stolen schematics for a human super-weapon named the Star of Peace. Very Helldivers.

On top of that, the update makes yet more changes to weapon balancing, plenty of bug fixes, and some neat additions. For example, the game now has an option for Chinese voiceover, and emotes and victory poses are now (mostly) interchangeable.

A new premium Warbond also launches today, giving players more opportunities to bag some new weapons.

The LAS-16 Trident is another favourite returning from the original game, a beam-firing, shotgun-like weapon that packs a punch.

The CQC-20 Breaching Hammer is a stratagem that arms you with a massive sledgehammer to do some hefty blunt force damage. Other new stratagems include the GL-28 Belt-Fed Grenade Launcher, which can fire multiple grenades in a row, and the EAT-411 Leveller, a powerful missile launcher.

The Warbond also contains its fair share of cosmetics to unlock as well.

It's all pretty heavy stuff in these updates, with lots of big new toys to play with. Will you be checking it all out in Helldivers 2? Tell us in the comments section below.
