@Kumatz Me too! That’s the one series I shed a tear for when I switched back to Sony. Although it sounds like I haven’t missed much post Bungie (I did play Halo 4 and it was pretty mediocre).
A damn shame. Titanfall 2 was one of the best shooters I’ve ever played, but Apex just isn’t for me. Would love to see another Titanfall game, or another single player game.
Struggled for awhile to get one, due to the disastrous stock shortage. I’d call a local gaming store (remember those?) every few days, and FINALLY scored one a couple of weeks before Christmas. Seeing that awesome boot screen, playing SSX, and watching DVDs…it really felt like what the N64 had printed on the box: the fun machine! The system was home to one of the greatest libraries of games. One of the greatest consoles ever.
I’m already admittedly averse to the idea of VR (sat in a room with a headset on just won’t be as comfortable as sitting in front of a nice big OLED). The fact that there’s such a paucity of software makes it even easier to pass over.
Something should be done. The fact that digital games are more expensive, even though there’s no manufacturing, packaging, or shipping costs is insane. And the “sales” on the PS store are a joke, compared to the past.
Far Cry New Dawn (almost done), Diablo 4, and Dead Space (the remake). The reviewer on this site might want to get his vision checked, saying it doesn’t look much better than a PS4 game…it’s gorgeous! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose!
From what the fellas at Digital Foundry say, Sony are going to find it difficult to make the PS5 for cheaper, which is how they’ve been able to swing price cuts in the past.
The industry needs to make AA games right now to be sustainable. If that means AA entries in existing, successful franchises then so be it. But the AAA death spiral will just continue if that's all publishers fixate on. It's simply not sustainable. I hope that we see more AA games that are smaller, take more risks, and have shorter development cycles (imagine getting a sequel to a great AA game in just a couple of years?). Time will tell. But something's gotta give or the industry will just collapse again.
Sony has loads of dormant IPs that they could reawaken for use in the family-friendly space. I hope they do. Better than this live service crap that they're thankfully (finally) realizing is generally not going to do the business.
Typical Sony, giving with one hand and taking away with the other. They’ve become really greedy and anti-consumer this generation. Easy skip. Plus there’s a decent PS5 patch if I want to play this again.
Damn, that sucks. Was really looking forward to a fourth game. The first one sucks on Playstation (bad port, dated design), but Crysis 2's campaign is one of my favourite shooters. Crysis 3 was...OK. Was hoping to see Crysis 4 push the envelope graphically with hopefully some new gameplay ideas.
They haven’t even shown Marathon gameplay yet. How can they be ready to announce Gummy Bears? I know that they could do a cinematic trailer, but still…I’d imagine they’ll show Marathon before anything else. But who knows?
Sony have been terrible at communicating with their customers for ages now. I don’t think they’ll say anything else; they think what they told us is “good enough”.
If the price is going to be discounted plus a pack in of Astro, that could move some consoles. Of course, we’ll see some REAL movement with GTA 6, hopefully later this year.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Highly doubt it; I feel like Halo will be announced separately by Microsoft, like Forza. There’s enough “outrage” about these titles coming to PS5; allowing Sony to be the ones to announce Halo could exacerbate the hurt feelings (not that I care). I hope I’m wrong, though; would be great to get an official announcement!
@GirlVersusGame …and overcharging for the used games that they sell. There was a time they had decent deals…now a used game is like $5 cheaper than brand new.
So far, so good. Now, if they can make some other improvements (bad UI/inventory handling, sparse fast travel points, not being able to sell junk conveniently, off the top of my head), we’ll be in even better shape.
Nice! This one is a tight, short Far Cry game, so I’ll definitely give it another go. Last time I played it was on PS5, so I’ll be treated to a resolution increase, HDR, AND this frame rate boost!
My wallet is going to be hurting this year (if the rumours are true): Master Chief Collection, Gears Collection, Borderlands 4, GTA 6…crazy year. Gears and Halo were the two franchises I was saddest to ditch when I moved back to PlayStation, and I’m so glad that I’ll be able to play them on PS5 (hopefully). Microsoft will also make a mint if they release these. Win/win! I know some Xbox fans will be disappointed, but at least there’ll be a bigger pool of players for multiplayer.
Great that Microsoft is seeing success as a publisher. I want to see them continue to be healthy and profitable, and a source of competition for Sony. Having said that, I'm also really happy that they're putting more of their games on PS5. As far as I'm concerned, we should share the love the other way as well, but that's extremely unlikely.
@nomither6 Well, remember certainly at the start, there WAS no real first party. Sony started snapping up devs soon after, of course (Psygnosis, etc.) But I’d have to say it was a combination. You had games like Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot, and so on, along with great third party games like Tomb Raider and really good fighting game ports (a big deal in the ‘90s) like Street Fighter and Tekken. I think PS1 was successful because it was marketed as a cool gaming platform, AND it was where devs wanted to be due to the voluminous, inexpensive CD format. Sorry for the long response, but I hope that it made sense!

I wish more games released demos like they did back in the day. Will definitely give this a spin!

@darylb24 I’d add “reduced first party output exacerbated by a misguided focus on live service games”
Re: Ex-Xbox Boss Says Console War Has Lost Its 'Feistiness' as Microsoft Goes Multiformat
It was kind of fun for awhile, at least to me. I didn’t take it seriously, and thought that the competition was good for gamers.

As long as there’s couch co-op for campaign and horde mode, I’m good.

@Balosi Champions of Norrath was my first dungeon crawler! LOVED that game!

Looks cool, if unoriginal. Will keep an eye on this.
Re: Xbox's Forza Horizon 5 Snatches April Release Date on PS5, Priced at $60
@get2sammyb Me neither. I had no doubt it’d be full price. I can’t afford it right now, but I do hope it sells well.
Re: Xbox's Forza Horizon 5 Snatches April Release Date on PS5, Priced at $60
@thefourfoldroot1 That’s my plan! I’ve waited this long…I can wait a little longer.

Wow! What a shocker indeed! Hate to sound cynical, but it must’ve really tanked (in EA’s eyes anyway). Glad to give it a whirl!

Re: Sony XDEV Is Eager For You to Watch Today's PS5 Livestream
I guess that they have to kick into high gear since actual first party studios have been farting around and wasting time with GAAS titles.

@Oram77 Totally agree. That would do the numbers, whereas I don’t see Marathon being the big hit that they need right now.
Re: The Order: 1886 Dev Pitched a Sequel to Sony, But Was Denied
It was definitely the sales. Sony doesn’t care if the game reviewed badly; if it still made “enough” money, they absolutely would have made a sequel.

Exciting! Always wanted to play this. Will definitely be picking it up.
Re: Space Marine 2 Publisher Attempts to Placate Fans Hungry for Content

Re: Xbox Boss Wants to Beat PS6 on Hardware Capabilities, Not Necessarily Games
Series X and PS5 are essentially the same, feature wise. Sony’s biggest innovation was the Dualsense controller, which does offer a unique experience.
Re: $100 for GTA 6 Is 'A Bridge Too Far' Even for Rockstar, Says Analyst
Elliot is correct: keep the price at the current $70, maximizing sales, THEN make mad bank with GTA Online (which I personally won’t bother with).
