This game does look cool and impressive but I do think it lacks a specific vision and looks more like a bunch of fantasy elements from other media slapped together without a strong foundation of creative purpose. It really feels like they set out to make “cool medieval action fantasy game” without having a unique story to tell or anything to add to the genre. I know you could say this to some degree about a lot of games but it feels particularly surface level here. I would be thrilled to be proven wrong though
@Jammer I understand not wanting to label everything like that but Code Vein is souls-like to a T, almost everything about it is crafted intentionally to follow the DS model. and then they just made it anime
Fantastic game so far, really blowing me away the world is breathtaking. I cannot stop thinking about it when working or busy and can't put it down when I get the time to play. There's so much to do too it is wild. Cannot wait to work on the platinum!
@Dogbreath certainly not fundamentally broken on PlayStation. The performance issues seem to vary in severity person to person but to throw the baby out with the bathwater for any game that doesn’t run perfectly is to miss out on a lot of great experiences
More of an 8 for me at this point but I’m still pretty early into it, no frame drops for me on base PS5 outside or some in the cutscenes. Gameplay is extremely satisfying and a lot more challenging this time around which works well. Lots of fun so far
the only thing in contention for my GOTY is KCD2 it stinks that it is overshadowed a bit by this one but E33 is just such a special, once in a lifetime kind of game that is does just enough to surpass it for me personally. they are both 10/10s though in my book and two of the best games I've ever played. wild that they were released just months apart, and I don't think anything will match those experiences for a long while to come
Might have to take the leap on this one I was planning on getting borderlands but no console reviews is making me want to wait a while. And it’s 50 bucks cheaper cannot beat that
@carlos82 yeah resi 9 looks outstanding. agree about the motion blur I don't usually have the best eye for that stuff but it was really distracting and looked pretty detrimental to the experience. other than that the game looks awesome!
@Rich33 the demo really impressed me, not quite enough to pull the trigger but i thought the combat was super fun and the boss fights were really entertaining. again not going to buy it yet but i will definitely revisit it down the line just based on the gameplay alone
the game is great and deserves its sales. people ask for shorter story driven games all the time but then turn around and complain when they get exactly what they asked for so there is just no pleasing them lol. loving my time with this one and love the price tag to quality ratio
I respectfully disagree although I do understand the criticisms. I love it so far for what it is, I think the story is actually really great mainly because of the characters and performances, and I find the gameplay pretty engaging although it is simplistic. Certainly does not reinvent the wheel in any area but the combination of all elements comes out to something really special for me
For what it’s worth (maybe not much) IGN gave it an 8. I will wait for some more trusted sources on YouTube to give a fleshed out analysis before deciding, I really want to play in Old Italy but idk if they really brought the full package here based on the mixed responses and lack of transparency
I was really hyped for this but the more I have seen it just does not look like anything special at least from a gameplay perspective. I do love the setting though so I will see how the reviews turn out
The demo was fine but not nearly enough to make me open my wallet. Nothing innovative or particularly interesting to me so I’d rather play something with a better hook or at the very least better production value. Not going to compare everything to E33 but this was more expensive at launch and not even half as interesting so I don’t feel all that bad overlooking it
@DennisReynolds one nice thing they included in accessibility is the ability to turn down their intensity, not sure if you can completely get rid of them but you can minimize them significantly from my understanding. I love them though even if it means I can only ever play the game in small doses lol
@Coffeeglitch I suppose it’s kind of like a Death Stranding 2 situation where the core gameplay elements remain the same but the story is different and there’s a lot more options on how to approach things. That is working very well for me personally with DS2 and this looks like it will do the same. I guess I just don’t know what else anyone would expect
Very surprised by the negativity in these comments I thought it looked like it innovates a lot on the first game and made lots of engaging improvements. I am very much looking forward to it more now than I was before the SOP

@Jammer I was getting those vibes too it feels like Crimson Desert might be to the Witcher what LSA was to Final Fantasy
