There are only three states of being — you either haven't yet played Vampire Survivors, are currently highly addicted to Vampire Survivors, or are a recovering Vampire Survivors... survivor. This we know to be true because it happened to us.
If you're back in the market for the highly compelling mix of auto-attacking, RPG progression, and roguelike elements, you might be interested in hearing about Halls of Torment, which is now bound for PS5.
Obviously inspired by Poncle's smash hit title, Halls of Torment throws in a healthy dose of Diablo for good measure, complete with a nostalgic pre-rendered aesthetic.
The game is broadly doing similar things to Vampire Survivors; objective-based meta progression, a wealth of characters, weapons, and items to explore, and so on.
Some might call it derivative, but hey, it must be doing something right, because it has nearly 30,000 "Overwhelmingly Positive" Steam reviews, has sold over 1 million copies on PC, and has a Metascore of 88.
There's no release date for PS5 other than "coming soon", but it can be wishlisted on PS Store right now.
On top of the game heading to consoles, a premium DLC called The Boglands is on the way, and will also be available on PS5.
The DLC will add a new stage, new heroes, quests, abilities, artifacts, and more. On top of that is the new Earth element and a Decay mechanic that erodes enemy armour over time.

OK first I was like "great another VS clone" but then saw the Diablo 1 aesthetic and now I want it.
Sure, but I won’t pay much for these games. They are dip in and out low effort titles; basically the gaming equivalent of background music.
Ive literally just platinumed Vampire Survivors and there’s still about 100 dlc trophies. Ill keep on eye on this
This game is dope as hell. It was feature-rich months back. I can't wait to go back to it.
@4fold Counterpoint: They're fun as hell and, for a lot of ARPG fans, they're like crack. It's the entire Diablo power curve from nothing-to-god in minutes instead of dozens of hours.
They are pure, distilled arcade-like fun. That's what matters.
for anyone that likes these games do yourself a favor and pick up Brotato. the name is off-putting but the gameplay is best in class
Never heard of this until now, LOVE the aesthetics here!
Loved it on the PC and was hoping for a port to PS5, excellent news.
Bought this about a months ago on steam after watching youtube let's play since I prefer the diablo 1 art style compared to vampire survivor cartoony art style. I really recommend this game even if you don't like vampire survivor, it's more like diablo 1 lite, now I'm addicted to it lol.
ps. I think for console it's best played on switch (1 or 2) since it's a pickup and play games.
Late news. I found the game yesterday morning while browsing that horrendous "add you your wishlist" option on PS Store, that is filled with asset flip garbage. I'm planning on getting this again, since i already own it on PC
Been hooked on Vampire Survivors for a few months now. Loads of fun, and it seems there’s always something more to unlock. I haven’t played Brotato, but I can recommend Nerd Survivors; it’s also a lot of fun. And Halls of Torment? Looks awesome,
@4fold yeah you obviously have not played vampire survivors. It's addictive as hell and it was harder to quit than smoking. I guess I'm going to have to start playing it again because this looks really cool.
@Northern_munkey
I’ve payed it a lot. Have the plat and 94% trophy completion (don’t really know how to judge progress other than that).
I didn’t say I didn’t appreciate it, but for what it is, something to do when you want a low effort activity. I wouldn’t spend much on it is all.
I barely remember the experience apart from some cheap dopamine hits when I finished a low skill activity that unlocked incremental progress
@Northern_munkey out of curiosity, did you try Soulstone Survivors? I'm not sure if he discussed this before. But I do remember your recommendation of Maniac.
@naruball sorry I didn't reply earlier as I'd just started work..no I haven't but I'll check it out.
@naruball I just watched a couple of soulstone survivor vids and it looks pretty good. I'll add it to my list 👍
@Logonogo Thanks for the suggestion, never heard of it before but now I bought the Game + DLC combo from PS Store. Seems like a great game tbh.
@Zeke68 of course! Hope you enjoy it!
@naruball I bought soulstone survivors upon your recommendation and it's very good. Quite a lot to take in and work out but I think it's going to take up a lot of my time..thankyou 👍
