A detail that some may have missed during the latest Nintendo Direct, the "large-scale DLC" for Dynasty Warriors: Origins will release on the 22nd January 2026, alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the base game.
The expansion is also coming to PS5, of course, on that same date.
This DLC — which has remained shrouded in mystery since its announcement back in August — has been the source of much speculation amongst fans of Koei Tecmo's longstanding franchise.
Most theories suggest that it's some kind of alternate route through the game's story, which already sees the protagonist join up with one of three warring kingdoms.

Others have speculated that the DLC may actually take place after the events of the base narrative, but at least to us, that sounds more like something a full sequel would deal with.
Still, this is a "large-scale" expansion, as the publisher has stated on multiple occasions now. It's clearly being framed as something fairly significant.
Anyway, now that we have a release date for the DLC, we imagine that more information will be heading our way soon enough.
