It appears that the Dead Island series won't end with Dead Island 2, as the game's official pages are hinting pretty directly about a third entry.

A recent post on social media indirectly says Dead Island 3 is in the works:

The post says the "journey is far from over", and that developer Dambuster Studios is "already drenched in the work".

Additionally, the image reads "When there's no more room in Hell-A...", teasing a new location for the next game.

The news comes alongside confirmation that Dead Island 2 has reached a player milestone of 20 million.

That's not bad at all for a game we all thought was lost to time before it bounced back, ultimately launching in 2023.

Here's hoping it won't take quite as long to make the third title, especially as Dambuster found a winning formula in the end.
