Lumines Arise, the Tetris Effect-style revival of the brilliant PSP puzzler, now has a release date on PS5.

Announced back in June, the trippy falling-block puzzle game comes to Sony's console — with full PSVR2 support — on 11th November, 2025.

On top of the release date news, developer Enhance has both unveiled and released a playable demo, which is available to play starting now.

The demo will only be live for one week, beginning today, 26th August at 6am PDT / 9am EDT / 2pm BST, and ending at 11:59pm (your local time) on 3rd September.

The Lumines Arise demo features singleplayer and multiplayer modes.

Solo players can enjoy a set of three stages from the game's Journey mode; the full experience will comprise over 35 levels, playing out very similarly to Tetris Effect's Journey mode.

The demo's difficulty is set to Easy, but the full game will feature more difficulty options for veteran players.

The multiplayer mode is all-new for Lumines. Called Burst Battle, it's a one-on-one competitive mode in which you must use Lumines Arise's new Burst mechanic to clear as many blocks as possible.

Doing so will send garbage to your opponent, piling up on the sides of their grid, narrowing their play area. You can eliminate garbage by clearing adjacent blocks.

The demo will also include a special weekend Loomii-Live event. Those who play Burst Battle matches will contribute to a cumulative total of Light, used to complete a community-wide goal.

In the full game, completing these live events will reward all participants with new customisation options for their Loomii.

Your Loomii, by the way, is your little avatar character you'll see in the bottom right of the screen during gameplay. You can customise them, and can unlock more Loomii characters by using the Burst mechanic.

Unfortunately you can't play the VR version in the demo.

On top of all this, Enhance has released another song from the game, Dreamland by Hydelic, available on Bandcamp and streaming services now.

Lots of Lumines news — we can't wait to hop into the demo, and the full game's not too far off either. Will you be taking Lumines Arise for a spin? Tell us in the comments section below.
