Re: The Last of Us 2 Voice Actor Explains Deleted Abby Flashback Scene

JesWood13

@LiamCroft Yeah, honestly lol. I’ll admit I wanted nothing to do with Abby at first, but the more I saw of her perspective on things, the more I grew to understand why she did what she did and really started to like her character. It almost feels like Ellie’s downward spiral and Abby’s story of redemption for what she did. It’s crazy, this game is a true masterpiece.

Re: Talking Point: The Last of Us 2 Spoilers Discussion

JesWood13

I wanted absolutely nothing to do with Abby at first because I knew going in what she was about to do, but once I saw her side of things I grew to really like Abby. She really grows as a person over the course of the game and I feel regrets what she had done because it led to all of her friends dying. Her relationship with Lev perfectly mirrors that of Joel and Ellie from the first game. As for Ellie’s choice to spare Abby, I believe Ellie realized at the last minute going through with it wasn’t going to bring Joel back or make her feel any better about the horrible sh— she had to do to, and that she’d be no better than Abby by leaving Lev to probably die a prolonged, agonizing death him being unable to defend himself whatsoever given his condition at the end of the game. At the end of the day, I didn’t want to see either Ellie or Abby die, even though what she did to Joel was absolutely horrendous. This game really makes you think, and the themes of revenge, bitterness, and trauma really stuck out to me, along with showing the human side of all these different characters. It’s a morally grey world, no two sides are in the right or wrong. By the end I was crying like a baby for nearly 30-40 minutes afterwards and got like no sleep after all that. It really resonated with me, I thought it was bloody brilliant, albeit incredibly tragic. Definitely gonna need some time away before I can play through it again. I’m not ready to weep like that again so soon after just beating it once.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Petition Demands Dramatic Story Alterations

JesWood13

Dare I say, that I like Joel, Ellie, AND Abby as characters?! Sue me, idgaf crybabies! I’m creeping closer to the end, but I’ve still got a little ways to go. I’ll agree that things happen that I didn’t want to happen, but that doesn’t mean it’s trash. It’s a really good game/narrative, and I’m probably gonna play through it multiple times.

Re: The Order 1886 Dev Ready At Dawn Bought by Facebook

JesWood13

Sony should just buy another studio up and have them continue The Order series. I mean, it’s their property. They don’t have to have Ready at Dawn working on it. Just my two cents though, the series has potential if they can find the right team for the job.

Re: Destiny 2: Beyond Light Confirmed for 22nd September

JesWood13

Hmm.... interesting, might have to look out for this/these expansions. I dropped off Destiny 2 well before the first expansion even hit. It was fun when my team of friends were all on to do the activities with, but that’s the thing though. That’s about the only time this game is any fun for me, is if I’ve got a group to play with. Otherwise this sh— just puts me to sleep.

Re: PS Vita Exclusive Persona 4 Golden Is Jumping to PC, No Word on PS4

JesWood13

Ohhhhh, neat! I’m gonna have to remember this for when I can afford my Origin build I spec’d and priced out last night! Probably gonna be a bit though, my build with monitor included came out to be over $5000, yikes. šŸ˜… But it’ll be worth it, and when the lady wants to watch or play something in the living room but I wanna keep playing my PlayStation games I can just use remote play. I’m rambling though, neato for this. Always wanted to play Persona 4, and now I can whenever I can afford my build, and play at higher resolution and frame rate I imagine.

Re: Guerrilla Collective Indie Game Show Postponed in Support of Black Lives Matter Movement

JesWood13

@Ryno Not only that, but people have become so radicalized overnight that everything you do is considered racist now. If you’re silent about it, you’re racist. If you don’t agree with everything the mob agrees on, you’re racist. Don’t support the violent riots, you’re racist. If you say not all cops are bad, you’re labeled a cop sympathizer and a racist. Family members and friends are turning on each other over here and it’s gotten wayyyyy out of hand. I don’t condone the police violence, or the violence that some of the protestors are exhibiting, but I’ll probably be told I don’t get it and that I’m a racist so.... whatever. I donated to Black Lives Matter, but I’m probably a racist to them because I’m not out there protesting with the mobs.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Tracking Better Than Spider-Man PS4 Pre-Orders in Europe

JesWood13

@ErisMorn0 Alright Eris Morn, calm down and go back to your sh—y world in sh—y Destiny and give out sh—y quests to all the players of that sh—y game instead of commenting on threads that cover good, high quality bar raising games like this. You’re probably the type of guy that’ll say Cyberpunk 2077 is pushing an agenda because there’s going to be transgender/gay/bi representation there too. Punk ass b-tch.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Panicking Over Backwards Compatibility

JesWood13

I only care about backwards compatibility for the PS4 games I own physically/digitally. Hopefully they patch in performance boosts for PS4 games while they’re at it. The main thing I want PS5 to have is Smart Delivery. I’m most likely only going to be able to afford one console or the other this holiday season and I’m already set on a PS5 at launch, so yeah.... if they do that I’m down. Don’t really wanna have to pay for Cyberpunk 2077 again on PS5 if I decide to get it on PS4.

Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying The Last of Us 2?

JesWood13

I have seen the leaks and I just don't see the political bull everyone is screaming about. This is a game about the cold embrace of revenge. I'm not defending the story not because it seems good or bad but because it would be foolish to do so without context. What I did get out of what I saw was the game brings you emotionally where you don't want to go...it's a gutsy move and I give it credit for that. I'm very excited and cautious but I feel the "woke" b.s. is being used as a easy out for people that don't want vulnerability in their power fantasy. The biggest progressive idea here is a lesbian main character and if that's a problem well... it's 2020 and Ellie is how I like representation in my games because she feels like a person...not a stereotype but that's just my feeling, and you’re entitled to yours. I’m not a political guy, as I think the Democratic and Republican parties are both horrible and do crooked stuff. I hate politics in games, but I am open minded enough to accept and enjoy art with political undertones as long as they don't betray and overwhelm the art. I do get why people might see that here but I think it's misplaced. Anyways though, I was always going to buy the game. The leaks didn’t change that for me one bit. As a matter of fact, I’m ready for my preload to start on the 12th, then the following week the plant I work at is shut down, which also happens to be the week of release! I’m gonna play and love every harrowing moment this game throws at me! The wait has been agonizing, and nothing or nobody is gonna kill my anticipation for this game!

Re: Site News: Yes, We're Playing The Last of Us 2

JesWood13

@Menchi Also if you think this is simply just a fanboy site, then I ask why are you here? I trust Sammy to give an accurate, unbiased review. Just because you want it to be a 2/10 because you don’t like that story, doesn’t mean it’s not gonna be a 7-10/10 for someone else, so get over yourself. Don’t like it, don’t buy it.
