Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 583

DrVenture69

@themightyant i wont spoil it, but the deeper you get in, you can unlock things that make it easier, unlocking the garage door is a biggie, and there are methods of changing the rarity of rooms too. But yeah, im still trying to power up the pump room. Its almost zen now, i just play it as an evening chill out game

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 583

DrVenture69

@themightyant i was getting Copilot to give me hints for the safes and by the end of it, i was like “dude, just give me the code”. I think ive legitimately solve a couple but a lot are impenetrable. I actually found most of the Lorelei puzzles easier to solve than the blue prince safes. I did crack the boudoir safe

Finally wrapped up the Oblivion platinum after 200 hours and a game breaking bug (PSA, don't visit Kvatch before giving Jauffre the Amulet of Kings!).

I'm on the Days Gone remaster now, which isn't messing about in Hard Mode so I'm going for super stealth mode. I really want to slam it before Death Stranding 2 comes out.

Have a great weekend Folks!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 582

DrVenture69

Im about 120 hours in on Oblivion and still loving it. Just finished the Shivering Isles which is huge. It’s cool that if you start the Sheogorath quest after finishing Shivering Isles, the dialog is different.

Ive put over 100 hours in to The Blue Prince too. I just cant stop playing it, so much depth once you dig under the surface (literally).

Also playing a bit of Forza, and hopefully Days Gone soon.

Have a great weekend folks!

Re: Video: DOOM Gameplay Comparison Shows Decades of Evolution

DrVenture69

I was there day one for doom. I bought my first pc to play it and it’s still a fantastic game. Ammo conservation, the secrets are just perfect. It’s still remembered after 30 plus years for a reason. I think Doom 2016 got damn close, but i just couldnt get on with Eternal, just felt like going from little arena to little arena. I hope Doom Dark Ages gets a few patches and lives up to the name

Re: Death Stranding 2's PS5 Story Could Take a Monstrous 75 Hours to Beat

DrVenture69

i just put 79 hours in Blue Prince before unlocking room 46 (and cannot wait to go back for more tomorrow), im starting to think this is going to be a 500 hour one for me. Like Elden Ring level.

Loved the first one so much, the exploration was superb. Wasnt a huge fan of the Mads Mikklesen levels (love him as an actor though), but when Patience by Low Roar kicks in as you crest a hill, omg so good!

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (PS5) - The Largely Fantastic Revival of a Landmark RPG

DrVenture69

I played the original a couple of weeks ago, just got out of the sewers and wandered around a bit. At 4K it still looked pretty good. At that point I was expecting the remaster to be a fake.

Seeing the remaster looked incredible. It’s still Oblivion, but looking at the vistas or the sun coming up through a trees leaves is just gorgeous.

The more I’ve played it, the better it feels. Getting the skeleton key, now I can throw fireballs. It feels good through levelling empowerment rather than BG3 level quest complexity (they’re obviously very different games).

Plus I’ve really not seen any major drops except near Kvatch on the Pro (about 25 hours in)

Re: Oblivion Remastered PS5 Patch in Limbo as Xbox Users Get a Performance Boost

DrVenture69

@GirlVersusGame I just looked at the sigil stone and thought “Ooh, shiny!” Then promptly forgot about it (I’ve still got two of those Great Welkynd stones which I’ve done nothing with). I’ll have a go at upgrading! I love Kahjit Christ btw, I’m going to be shouting “Save me, Cat Jebus!” from now on (this is a nightmare to type with auto correct on!)😂

Re: Oblivion Remastered PS5 Patch in Limbo as Xbox Users Get a Performance Boost

DrVenture69

I was playing it most of the weekend on the Pro and the only time the framerate tanked was in the Kvatch Oblivion game when I trying to open the castle gate and it was throwing loads of Flame Atronachs and those little lizard fellas at me.

I have had two “Something went wrong crashes in about 25 hours, other than that it’s been great.

I haven’t seen any backwards flying dragons (I know, that was Skyrim!), but I have seen people standing on horses or walking over tents which is top tier Bethesda jank and I love it

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 578

DrVenture69

Loving the Oblivion remake. It definitely is a nearly 20 year old game, but I’ve got into the loop of strengthening the character and saving up for all the training.

I did have one slow down of the game rate near Kvatch Oblivion gate, but restarting the PS5 fixed it, so I’m guessing it’s a memory leak which hopefully they can fix, other than that it’s been fine.

Also put 50 hours into Blue Prince in the evenings. It’s showing a fair bit more depth than I thought it had at the start. Just had a load of new rooms appear including going underground.

I’ve downloaded the Days Gone remake but I think it will have to wait until after Oblivion.

Have a great weekend folks!

Re: Oblivion Remastered: Everything New and All Changes Compared to the Original Oblivion

DrVenture69

@SRB-GAMER , the local area maps are a bit weird, if you press R2 on the overworld map to zoom in, at some point it goes into a local area map, the slider on the right of the map shows you. It’s not very intuitive and took me a while! I’d prefer another control to go straight to a local area map (and the ability to remap to touch pad). Still loving it though, I really clicked with it today. Edit: Yeah what @Lup said!😂

Re: Hands On: Oblivion Remastered Is Still Oblivion in All Its Glory, Crap Frame Rate Aside

DrVenture69

I’m playing on pro and it hasn’t given me a splitting headache (I’m usually the first to moan about frame rates, ff16 in the standard ps5 was a rough experience before the first big patches). Dunno, maybe it’s good frame pacing, that’s a thing right?

I’m in performance mode, I’ve left the screen space reflection on, but I’ve set the first person pov to 100. I’m about 15 hours in and I’ve explored a fair amount of the north side of the map

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Oblivion Remastered?

DrVenture69

My first elder scrolls game was Daggerfall, still got the cd. It was so janky! I played the original Oblivion for a couple of hours last week and this looks fantastic by comparison. The only issue I’ve seen so far is clicking on things to search/pick up can take a few tries. I’ve not seen any major framerate issues (I’ve got as far as Frost Spire manor, but haven’t been through an Oblivion gate yet. Loving it!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 577

DrVenture69

Ive put about 20 hours into Blue Prince this week, its a weird game and doesnt seem terribly keen of rewarding you… until it does. There loads of doors i have no idea how to get through, and a couple of keys have popped but ive no idea where theyre used. Ive got a permanent room now too! It just keeps me coming back. Ive slammed loads of Vampire Survivors Adventure today too.

Also played a bit of the fantastic Lords of the Fallen v2.0 which looks superb on the pro, with a flawless frame rate. Dodging seems better now (and thanks to @Northern_munkey for singing its praises last year, that lead to me giving it a try).

My only problem now is what to play next, with Oblivion and the Days Gone upgrade landing next week (hopefully!)

Have a great weekend Folks!

Re: Oblivion PS5 Remaster Is Real as New Screenshots Leak

DrVenture69

@GirlVersusGame i do miss decent manuals. That Baldurs Gate manual with the 5 disk cardboard holder. Still remember getting that. Ive just found the Forgotten Realms “The Archive” manual which is the size of a decent sized novel😂. I think we both have the same problem😂

Re: Oblivion PS5 Remaster Is Real as New Screenshots Leak

DrVenture69

@GirlVersusGame so cool you’ve got the receipt too! Interestingly my manual cover is the same colour as the box, a kind of cream colour. So the ps3 version is slightly different. I definitely hear you about going back to the ps3 controller. Ive never sold a video game so ive got two plastic crates of these😄

Re: Oblivion PS5 Remaster Is Real as New Screenshots Leak

DrVenture69

I’ve just spent a couple of hours playing the disk based version on PC, and the graphics actually look pretty good for a 19 year old game when turned up to max. I’m playing it on a 1080ti and the frame rate is actually pretty good too, although could do with some mouse smoothing, or dare I say it, motion blur.

Cookie cutter dungeons and fetch quests aside, the only issues I’ve had were not being able to install Shivering Isles because of SecureROM. The upside to levelling feels like any class can max out all stats if you use the skill enough, I think that’s the case, but I’m literally 2 hours in and haven’t played it for at least 17 years!
