Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Silent Hill 2?

DrVenture69

Its a solid 8 for me. Its not all bells and whistles and full on current gen, but its such a great recreation of the original. I actually dug out the 2001 PS2 version and watched the Making Of dvd (im sure its on youtube, it was really interesting seeing the designers talk about Eros and Thanatos and the fact Eddies physical model was based one one of their friends). But, watching it, the 2001 game looks really dated and the voice acting of James and Laura isnt great. It could gave been a poisoned chalice, but Blooper team pulled off something special. My only real gripe at the moment, is there doesnt fell like theres a lot of the original music

@Kraven , just a heads up, I’ve just finished Blasphemous and if you want to platinum it definitely use a guide (62 hours, 92.81% complete map, 57% of the trophies). I missed out on the good ending because I started a boss fight too early (after beating two other really hard bosses).

On the upside… on to Silent Hill 2! Woo!

@Shepherd_Tallon AS2 is so much fun, I play half an hour of horde mode every couple of days. I think I’ve played more horde mode than the single play, and I never do that! The remake of the original is out in a week or so too

@Shepherd_Tallon i started playing RE Village in PSVR2 over the weekend and, yeah, that was a bit intense. I went back to Arizona Sunshine 2 after an hour to lighten the mood. I actually think the gunplay is better in AS2, it feels a bit light in REV, but REV looks so good, fantastic use of HDR

Got a standard one, im not bothered about the 30th anniversary one. Ive got a can of grey primer😄. Im looking forward seeing GT7 & Demons Souls. Ive still got Alan Wake 2 to start as well. Cant wait to see how Vampire Survivors looks too!

Really want to finish FF7 Rebirth, 170 hours in and I love it except for some of those boss/challenge encounters, the dodge and block is driving me nuts. Hopefully I can get a bit more Astrobot in too, but I’m trying not to slam it (it’s making me want to go back and play Astro’s Playroom too)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 546

I should be playing FF7 Rebirth and Astrobot, but i have to play Vapire Survivors. Just got past the Ender. Such a fantastic little game. This and Animal Well are neo indie classics.

Also got a bit of GT7 in, the weeklies include a Porsche race, which was the first time id liked that new track.

Have a good weekend folks!

The only thing that’s pushed the Vampire Survivors music out of my head is the Astrobot music. Almost 100%-ed the first Galaxy, and a bit of the Lost Galaxy. It’s making me want to go back and play Playroom too. Still need a bit of VS as a palette cleanser though (you say Potato, I say Poe Ratcho, let’s call the whole thing off)

Have a great weekend folks!

I’m loving it, solid 9. It reminds me of the old Amiga/ST days. The drip feed of new stuff, that causes that dopamine squirt. Even the title screen gets more and more added to it. Perfect pick-up-and-play. I did start seeing a screenful of those gems in my head when I closed my eyes, haven’t experienced that persistence of vision in a while. It’s not for everyone, and that’s fine, but at £3.99 for the base game, it’s definitely worth rolling the dice

Re: How Much Would You Pay for Your PS5 Games? Dev Says Industry Is Waiting for GTA 6 to Hike Prices

DrVenture69

@Northern_munkey im certainly not an expert of frame rate, I’ll leave that to Digital Foundry! My theory was just the harder the PS4 had to work the fewer frame you would get out of it. I guess I’m just say id hope developers / publishers would focus on boom for buck, rather than tacking of bells and whistles then telling us “Hey, this all costs”. I’m probably over simplifying!

Another problem is that publishers seem to think everything has to be a triple A, every game has to have 100 hours of dialogue, 40 hours of expositional dialogue (show, don’t tell!), and so much on screen clutter, the PS5 is trying to render a billion polygons a second at 4k (clutter is probably why Bloodborne was a 30FPS game).

All that costs. Just dial it back guys! I think that’s why Death Stranding was such a great game, it’s simplicity

Every time I read this article (I’m pretty sure it pops up once a month), I see the Simpsons ”Stop! Stop! He’s dead already!” Gif in my head. It’s bad enough I went through so many years waiting for Half Life 3. Come on PushSquare! Have mercy!

Re: Preview: Silent Hill 2 PS5 Grows in the Right Ways for Anticipated Remake

DrVenture69

Wow, this sounds really positive. Thanks @LiamCroft (what was the music like, loved that original score). I almost didn’t want to read it, to go in cold, but glad I did. It’s a pity there’s not a PS5 version of the original 1, 2 & 3 for the purests😄. The HD version isn’t great on PS3 and Shattered Memories is a tough putt now, definitely showing its age.

All i want now is to see a dog flying a UFO
