It's been a strong year for PS5 gaming so far. Over the first six months or so of 2025, we've had the pleasure of playing some very high quality titles — and even a few genuine Game of the Year contenders.
But now that we're well into June, it's time to start looking ahead to the second half of the year — and not just because Grand Theft Auto 6's delay has given every publisher on the planet an opportunity to lock their releases in!
So, we've gathered the esteemed Push Square editorial team to tell us all about their PS5 picks for the rest of the year, and we encourage you to do the same — both in our poll, and the comments section at the bottom of this article.
Aaron Bayne, Video Producer

Hell Is Us
Hell Is Us really captured my attention with its hand-off approach. With no traditional map or quest log system, you need to actually pay attention to your surroundings and what NPCs have to say. With most open worlds telling you exactly where to go, it’s easy to basically ignore all the cool little details of a world, so I’m hoping that Hell Is Us puts the onus on the player, and as a result, its setting of Hadea becomes all the more immersive.
Arc Raiders
I’ve been dying to get my hands on ARC Raiders for years, and now we finally have a release date. I sunk over 30 hours into the recent closed tech test, and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It’s incredibly cinematic and immersive, and it’s such a great laugh with friends. My squad have been lamenting over its absence ever since, and we’ll be counting down the days till October 30th.
Cronos: The New Dawn
After really blowing me away with the Silent Hill 2 remake, I’ve got my fingers crossed that Bloober Team can cook up something special on its own with Cronos: The New Dawn. This trippy sci-fi horror is so up my street with top tier visuals, grungy enemy designs, and what looks to be a weird and wonderful narrative. I still have some reservations, but I’m really looking forward to this one.

Mafia: The Old Country
I love engaging story, I love linearity, and I love the Mafia series — Mafia: The Old Country looks to be all of those things. In an age of huge open worlds, Hangar 13 is purposefully dialling things back and focusing on the meat in between the exploration that this kind of title would typically bundle in. In other words, the developer is focusing on what actually matters most. I'm looking forward to playing a neat string of missions back to back and then rolling credits after 15 hours — hopefully with a Platinum Trophy. Perfect!
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
One of the greatest stealth games of all time is being brought back in the most faithful way possible, and I can't wait to revisit the 1960s soviet setting of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater once again, this time on PS5. Metal Gear Solid is one of my favourite series, but Snake Eater specifically isn't what I consider the best entry, so I'm looking forward to giving it another look. With all the bonus modes coming back alongside the potential of Metal Gear Online, this release is shaping up to be an excellent remake.
Silent Hill F
The love-in with Konami continues, as the survival horror genre looks to keep up its hot streak with Silent Hill F. I'd never, ever have thought the Silent Hill IP could become an annualised franchise, but we're currently on course for that with a very different take on the series, in its first attempt at a Japanese setting. I'm not expecting it to be quite on the same level as the fantastic Silent Hill 2 remake, but Silent Hill F still has the potential to be something special.

Ghost of Yotei
Ghost of Tsushima ended up being one of my top games of PS4 generation, and I see no reason why Ghost of Yotei can't improve upon everything that it got right. I fully trust Sucker Punch to nail aspects like a more in-depth combat system and a more dynamic open world — and if we can add some well-measured narrative nuance to the mix, this could easily end up being my favourite PS5 game of the year.
Sword of the Sea
I love my 100-hour RPG epics, but sometimes you need to just sit down and relax with a game that's all about atmosphere and feel. Fortunately, Sword of the Sea looks to be a perfect example of that — a spiritual successor to the almighty Journey. I'm hoping for an experience that's simply a pleasure to play through; a lively sand-surfing jaunt that's happy to just ease me along for the ride.
Trails beyond the Horizon
It's crazy to think that with the release of Trails beyond the Horizon, the west will finally be caught up with Falcom's RPG series. By all accounts, this is one of the most important games in the franchise yet, laying the groundwork for what will surely be the closing chapters of a truly colossal saga. Truthfully, though, I just can't wait to catch up with Van Arkride and the gang — there's just something so moreish about Trails and the way that it utilises its huge cast of characters.
Sammy Barker, Editor

Ghost of Yotei
I’ve been a Sucker Punch fan since the Sly Cooper days, and while the developer has changed a lot, I don’t think it’s ever lost its knack for outstanding game feel. Ghost of Tsushima was a wonderful game to play, and its art direction was utterly outstanding. But I think it lacked that density of different things to do that it really needed to carry its long running time. I expect that to be solved with this sequel, and while I suspect fans and the media alike may be a little critical of its iterative nature, I’m fully anticipating an excellent game.
Mafia: The Old Country
I’ve always been a sucker for Mafia’s distinct approach to storytelling, and I genuinely believe dialling back the open world backdrop to deliver a stronger narrative will benefit this release. We’re in an era where expectations and ambitions have spiralled out of control, so I actually think developer Hangar 13 deserves enormous credit for recalibrating expectations and focusing on what it does best. I’m confident the final product will be a must play.
Silent Hill F
While I thoroughly enjoy the thrills and spills of Resident Evil, it’s the macabre psychological themes of the Silent Hill series that really speak to me. This new instalment specifically looks like a sensational next step for the franchise: Japanese horror has such a deeply disturbing vibe to it, and the historical environmental artwork that’s been shown thus far looks utterly outstanding. I also want to add that while I’ve personally never played any of his visual novels, I’ve always hear positive things about Ryukishi07, so I can’t wait to experience his story when this title deploys.
Stephen Tailby, Assistant Editor

Lumines Arise
Personally, I think the Lumines series is among the best falling block puzzle games, so I was beaming when a brand new iteration opened Sony's recent State of Play. If anything, Tetris Effect's brilliant blend of music and eye-melting visuals matches even better with Mizuguchi's synaesthetic puzzler. We've not seen much of Lumines Arise yet, but it looks like a match made in heaven already. I wasn't expecting this series to return, but I'm so glad it's coming back, and it's instantly become one of my most anticipated games this year.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
I'm not a massive Shinobi fan, but Art of Vengeance looks better and better every time I see it. And it's not just the gorgeous hand-drawn visual style — the movement and the combat look delightfully slick. I love a 2D action game, and this appears to be a fantastic mix of style and substance, something developer Lizardcube has brought to each game its made so far. I'm not expecting much in the way of story, but I'm not here for that; I just want to hack and slash bad guys and look cool as hell doing it.
Ghost of Yotei
You just know Ghost of Yotei is going to be great. Despite one or two small reservations, I really enjoyed its predecessor, so I'm super ready for the sequel to build on it and deliver some top notch open world action. The new setting is really fresh, and I'm looking forward to learning more about Atsu and her story. Sucker Punch has rarely put a foot wrong, and all of its games feel wonderful to play, so I have a lot of faith this will be very strong. That Ghost of Yotei State of Play will finally show the game off in all its glory, and I can't wait to watch that, but I already know I'm going to have a lot of fun with this one.

Apologies if any of your most anticipated games aren't in the poll — we had to cap it at 70 (!!!) of the most popular titles.
Lots to look forward to, clearly.
Literally nothing is a day 1 buy for me. Ghost maybe once I see gameplay, The Alters down the line but nothing to speaking to me.
@ShogunRok Thank you for having good taste.
Ghost of yotei looks incredible my most anticipated game this year easily
Way way WAY too many to choose from, but in the end my picks are Ghost of Yotei, Silent Hill f, Death Stranding 2, Snake Eater and Hell is Us.
Too many good games but the five I picked were Borderlands 4, Trials in the Sky 1st Chapter, Ghost of Yotei, Silent Hill F and Digimon Story Time Stranger.
Silent Hill F, Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei and Borderlands 4 (got a close group of friends that always play together since BL2 launched) are my picks but was tempted to go for the likes of MGS Delta, Dying Light: The Beast and Outer Worlds 2.
This year is INSANELY strong for games.
Probably Toxic Crusaders and Shinobi.
Both Ninja Gaiden games, too.
And I think that's it. I don't care about any other game releasing this year.
I’m surprised no one said Crimson Desert. Now that more of the open world stuff is out there the game looks unbelievable. Outside of the usual PS Studios fanfare that’s the only day 1 for me here.
Just a quick note on the lack of Death Stranding 2 in our personal picks: I would have selected the game but I'm literally playing it now for review, so it would have been a bit odd.
My choices were:
1. Ghost of Yeoti
2. Cronos: The New Dawn
3. The Outer Worlds 2
4. Silent Hill F
5. Hell Is Us
I'm itching to get a hold of Wuchang Fallen Feathers, Where Winds Meet, and Crimson Desert. Hell is Us looked really promising as well. And Ghost of Yotei is a no brainer. Definitely a lot to look forward to .
@LiamCroft Can you tell us, is the game absolute cinema?? 👀
PS5:
Ghost of Yotei
Nintendo Switch 2:
VF5 REVO
Donkey Kong Bananza
Pokemon Legends
Hyrule Warriors
No Sleep for Kaname Date
Kirby Air Riders
Patapon
Dragon Quest 1&2
Katamari
XBOX/PC:
Age of Mythology retold Heavenly Spear
solid year for great games!
@Colour I only am not picking it as am still so hesitant about it; seems way too good to be true; but if it lives up to the hype it could be a generational title.
There isn't even a single Playstation exclusive I have any interest in.
I don't anticipate buying any of the multiplatform game on PS5 as I can generally get them cheaper on Xbox.
Silent Hill f, The Outer Worlds 2, Ghost of Yotei, Tormented Souls II, and Cronos: The New Dawn.
1. Death Stranding
2. Metal Gear
3. Mina the Hollower
4. Ghost of Yotei
5. Silent Hill F
Special shoutout to FF Tactics, Shinobi, and Ragebound. Those and the Switch 2 exclusives are potentially the rest of my purchase schedule this year.
There's too many games!!!
Silent Hill f is the only one of these games on my radar. It's a biggun, though!
Chronos the new dawn.ghost of yotei.mafia the old country. Lost soul aside. Ninja gaiden 4.word up son
Crimson desert and metal gear delta.little nightmares 3.silent hill f looks good also Word up son
I voted for Ghost of Yotei, Death Stranding 2, Chronos: The new dawn, Sword of the Sea, but i forgot to vote for Silent Hill F.
Thats one hell of a line up for half a year btw, people saying this gen sucks are smoking some good stuff
Definitely Death Stranding 2. I’m always running a year or so behind though, so I’m still looking forward to the likes of Stellar Blade, FF7 Rebirth, Shadow of the Erdtree, Silent Hill 2 and AC Shadows.
since Crimson Desert was absent from all the summer shows, I think it isn't making its way into 2025 after all..
No Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in the list? Whilst it probably isn't in my top 3 or 4, I am looking forward to it more than the majority of other games coming out. I know it won't be Game of the Year, probably won't be innovative or that different from previous games etc, but it will likely end up as one of my most played games in terms of hours spent and I really do like Zombies.
I don't know that I'll even play most of the games listed and some of the ones I voted for, I certainly won't be playing 'this' year as I refuse to pay more than £50 for ANY game just to play it within the first few months of release. I'd rather play my backlog until those games are on Sale. Arguably I'm not excited enough to drop £70+ just for the base version of games these days when I can buy 2 or 3 AAA games for that price - just 6mths+ old games that were £70+
1. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
2. Ghost of Yotei
3. Hell is Us
4. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
5. Silent Hill f
Honestly, Cronos would've been in there but that Hell is Us demo impressed the hell outta me.
Chronos, mafia, Inazuma Eleven, eden zero, Wuchang,MGS,lost souls aside, ghost of yotei, daemon x machina, silent hill f, atelier res, digimon, ninja gaiden 4, demon slayer 2 and hopefully crimson desert
Loved exploring the original Death Stranding’s world so im really looking forward to the second one. Hope Silent Hill F turns out well. I loved the Hotshots golf series so there’s that too
Cairn
Mafia
The Outer Worlds 2
Shinobi
Sword of the Sea
I didn't pick Ghost of Yotei because I figured that will be getting enough love here, but that's going to be brilliant as well. I'm not sure how many I'll buy day one, but I plan to play all of those at some point.
EDIT: I forgot about Silent Hill F
@WYRMWOOD23 Really gutted PS didn't get that demo.
I'm addicted to the Cairn demo. I genuinely think playing this game will make me a better climber in real life. That's how legit the climbing mechanics are.
I was already going to buy it, because I love Haven, but this game is everything a climbing game should be
@Oram77 It was really unfortunate - especially since I will be playing it on PS - but I'm thankful to have a decent enough PC to run it. Gave me the Soulslike vibe I've been craving after Lies of P with a very interesting story and a really good soundtrack. Easy day one purchase for me.
Kind of surprised that not a single staff member picked Death Stranding 2.
Early still, but Ghost of Yōtei looks to have a solid lead.
Silent Hill f hands down. Happy that we're getting a brand new Silent Hill game, even happier it genuinely looks really good.
Pleased that Sword of the Sea is finally coming.
Really hoping Reanimal comes out soon.
Hello there fellow gamers.
These are the 5 most anticipated games that I chose on the list:
But, there are quite a few more that I am interested such as:
Man, that´s a BIG list. I already pre-purchased the first five, but the rest...... just like our dear friend @get2sammyb mentioned before, there are to many good and interesting games.
I´ts kinda of insane. How am I suposed to play all of them????
Don´t know how, but I´ll try nonetheless 😂😉
Cheers and happy gaming everyone
Wolf among us 2 won't be out this year. It's been radio silence for ages
@ShogunRok it's a big list, but no Ready or Not! One of my most anticipated games of the year, can't wait to play it coop.
Not sure if pushsquare have done an article on it or not, but it's releasing 15th July for £40!
As it happens, my most anticipated titles are exactly 5:
1. Ghost of Yotei
2. Crimson Desert
3. Hell is Us
4. Silent Hill F
5. Cronos: The New Dawn
But I'm also interested in:
6. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
7. Metal Gear Solid Delta
8. Gears of War: Reloaded
Yotei
Marathon
ARC Raiders
There's too many to pick, hands down one of the best years for gaming!
I know it won't be in the top 5 for most people but I'm most looking forward to College Football 26. The quality of life changes that they are making along with the improvements going into year two has me excited. I put close to 1200 hours into last year's game so I'm heavily invested. I'm definitely also looking forward to Mafia - the old country, Ghost of Yotei, MGS3, and my first chance to play Gears of War. There's quite a few more that I'm looking forward to. The back half of 2025 looks great.
@SilentRooster
Interesting to see a side by side review
Not much for me maybe none this year. I can wait for Ghost to get the below 40 bucks.
Nothing in the soulslike genre, that’s for sure.
Ghost of Yotei
Snake Eater
Ninja Gaiden 4
Mafia
There’s a lot more I’m eager to play, but it’ll likely be on other consoles.
My top two are Silent Hill F and Death Stranding 2, which are currently tied for second place at 8%! Yotei, of course, is the winner. I’m also super pumped for Cronos, and Nina Gaiden: Ragebound looks awesome. Honorable mention for Hell is Us, Shinobi, MG Delta, Daemon X Machina… Good lord, SO MANY AMAZING GAMES COMING!
Pretty dry for me. Maybe Little Nightmares 3 and Outer Worlds 2? Silent Hill F got my attention but I'm not sold on it yet.
Meh.
What Stephen said, lol.
I've been waiting for an Amid Evil port for a while, and Fallen Aces. Ninja Garden, and patches for Witcher 3 and Tainted Grail, please.
Really just Ghost (and Metroid Prime 4 which doesn't count)
Honorable mentions: System Shock 2 bc I never played it way back when. DS2 even though the story will be bad. Hell Is Us even if I hate the title
Death Stranding 2, MGS 3 Remake, Silent Hill f, Ghost of Yotei, and Lost Soul Aside. Pretty much all of the games I'm anticipated for 2025. Who knows though maybe Wuchang will get my attention.
I play very few games Day 1 anymore so my most anticipated titles are in my backlog (Hades, Cyberpunk, Sekiro, PoP: Lost Crown, Returnal, Elden Ring, Baldurs Gate 3, Cult of the Lamb, Sifu etc.)
But I also tend to prefer smaller indie games or AA's doing something a bit different so my most anticipated are:
For ps5 I wouldn't say there's a huge amount for me personally in the second half.
Mgs delta looks great but I've played the original to death so I'll probably give it a skip.
Silent hill f looks kinda cool but the series doesn't have the most spotless record. Wait and see.
The premise of Hell is us almost has me sold, if the reviews are good this might be my pick.
Sword of the sea is definitely a type of game that I think there's not enough of, but I can't escape how similar it looks to Journey (art wise), wish it had something a bit more it's own like abzu did.
Outside of the playstation realm, Keeper, Legends ZA and hopefully Splatoon Raiders and Silksong shall keep me busy.
Crimson desert is my top choice, however I read recently about the over complication of buttons and it has me a bit worried.
"The most maddening example, though, comes when Kliff has to pick up something heavy. This left me in disbelief, not once but twice. The first time was at the start of the demo, where I had the seemingly simple task of picking up a large standard that flew the flag of the Greymanes, moving it a few feet, and inserting it into a metal base to claim an outpost for the clan. This required me to press both thumbsticks in to activate Kliff's super strength power, aim at the flag and press X and Square together to select it, rapidly press X to raise it from the floor, press Triangle to secure it above my head, walk to the base, hold L1 to aim at it, then press R1 to place it. All this to pick up and plant a flag"
So many games - love it!
Ghost of Yotei
Death Stranding 2
Lost Soul Aside
Mafia: Old Country
Silent Hill F
WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers (PC GamePass)
Echoes of the End
Totally forgot about Destiny 2: Edge of Fate.
My top five games are...
1. Crimson Desert
2. Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater
3. Lost Soul Aside
4. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
5. Ninja Gaiden 4
The Runner ups would be...
6. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
7. Silent Hill f
8. Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion
The two Trails series games and Digimon Story are my biggest favorites. Basically any JRPG or tactics game is high on my list. Thank you for covering the Trails series so much.
Some great games coming this year
There's a few I'm interested in. Mafia has a good chance but Ghost of Yotei is the one I'm most likely to buy at one point, THPS 3&4 I pre-ordered so long ago I forget with whom, and with which card, but was a given, for the first remake I was outside the store half an hour early to collect! Asides from that I'm happy to wait and see what's what, but I'm certainly not desperate to get my hands on anything right now.
Hyped for a good number of these but the 5 I'd put above all else are Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Ninja Gaiden 4, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, Ghost of Yotei and Silent Hill f.
+Cronos: The New Dawn
+Mafia: The Old Country
+Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
+Silent Hill F
+The Alters
My first five are decided but lot to look forward too.
partial butt nudity and drinking games for me.
Dragon Quest I & II above all, but also Final Fantasy Tactics, Ghost of Yotei, Hirogami, and The Wolf Among Us 2 (assuming it actually comes)
MOUSE: P.I. for Hire is my GTA VI
Have we seen any gameplay of Ghost of Yotei yet? I've only seen the initial trailer which I only remember it being a CG, then the wolf trailer from the latest SoP.
Hell Is Us is my #1 followed by Chronos as #2. I’m sure Ghost of Yotei will be amazing, but as a sequel it feels so much less exciting than new IP.
A bit shocked, that so few chose Tony Hawks...
It's not that much for me, but I'm looking forward to a few games.
Absolutely Silent Hill f and Sonic Racing CrossWorlds.
Also Wu Chang: Fallen Feathers and Tony Hawks 3+4 will jump into my collection.
Gex Trilogy is nice and I hope I will get my hands on a Limited Run copy. But these are my highlights so far.
The Keeper is also very interesting.
But that's about it. It's too much every year, I still have a good backlog. I just reduced my collection pretty big time and still have enough.
Death Stranding 2 is interesting, but I don't when I shall play that. I only played a few hours of the 1st game.
So many games... for me it's
1 Ghost of Yotei
2 Death Stranding 2
3 RoboCop
4 Dying Light The Beast
5 The Wolf Among Us 2
Playing Alters on PC already but also interested in...
Tony Hawk 3+4
Little Nightmares 3
FBC Firebreak
Borderlands 4
Ghost of Yotei, MAYBE Hell Is Us (what I’ve seen so far looks very empty and devoid of much content), Borderlands 4 and that’s pretty much it. I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s a stellar year! But I just don’t play most of the kinds of games coming out.
