Re: Mini Review: Lorelei and the Laser Eyes (PS5) - Bring a Notebook for This Dense, Compelling Puzzler

Im about 25% through and i love it. Just got to a fortune tellers tent and the music inside is like the fortune tellers music from Zelda: Link to the Past!

It feels like an old school adventure game, tonnes of puzzles (numeric/decoding), keys/items and doors to unlock. It almost has a Twin Peaks feel to it, so weird!

My notes are starting to look like Charlie’s red string corkboard in Always Sunny…

Re: Poll: What Are Your Gaming Plans for the Holidays?

DrVenture69

Lumo’s my go-to Christmas game, but im also going to play Journey again for the first time in ages. Talos Principal is a good Chrimbo option too. Looking forward to the remaster next year.

I usually save up a good chunk of my holiday and get almost 3 weeks off

Still playing through Blasphemous 2 (now on the DLC), and after a bit of a dry period with Lies of P, it suddenly seems to have exploded with interesting bits in Chapter 8. Loving it again.

Obviously GT7 weekly races and Arizona Sunshine which is just so much fun in horde mode, I’ve play every day for about 45 minutes for over four months!

Have a great weekend Folks!

Edit: Almost forgot, I’ve dug out Simpsons Hit and Run and an external DVD drive for the laptop. I feel like a candy wrapper caught in an updraft!

I’m going to play a bit of the fantastic Nostalgia-fest which is Lumo. It’s my Christmas game and brings back loads of Spectrum memories (it’s an isometric platform / adventure with loads of nods to the microcomputer era).

Also a bit of Blasphemous 2, getting near the end. Slowly enjoying Lies of P to, but I think I still prefer LotF.

I’m also playing a bit of Arizona Sunshine while it’s very windy and grey here in the UK, or as I call it Always Sunny in VR-adelphia.

Have a great weekend Folks!

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your PS1 Memories?

DrVenture69

I moved in with my first girlfriend in a little rented two-up-two-down, and got it so i could still play games. I kept it in a little drawer in the bedroom and played it on a 12” tv. It sounds so Dickensien now, but i loved it. Ff7 lead me to find Suikoden 2 in a bargain bin at Game, which made me fall in love with JRPGs. I don't consider myself a Sony fanboy 30 years later. I just haven't seen anything better

Edit: i have to say my first experience with VR was a similar experience three or four months ago. Reminded me of first playing Doom in 1984

Re: My First Gran Turismo Has Been Rated for Release on PS5, PS4

DrVenture69

@Balaam_ , you do need to be online to play anything other than arcade mode. It’s not been an issue for me except when they do maintenance, then it can be down for a couple of hours (like 6AM - 8AM, on one day, maybe once every couple of months). If you’ve got bad internet I guess it might throw you out of a race, but I’ve not had that happen in the last 2 years

Re: My First Gran Turismo Has Been Rated for Release on PS5, PS4

DrVenture69

As someone who really wanted a single play GT game, I’m still playing this (regular GT7)
nearly every day after 2 years. The driving is just so much fun, getting a sub five minute lap of the Nurburgring in a Dodge Tomahawk is a blast. I finished most of the single player element in a couple of weeks, but I keep coming back to Pokemon cars (about 15 left to get). I’ve never touched an online race either. Even with out VR it’s fun, I just love it with VR now though, can’t play it pancaked any more

Still going through Alan Wake 2 on the Pro but the scene changing is driving me nuts in the cinema. Might have to take a break. I’ve unblocked myself on Blasphemous 2 by getting the double jump and loving it again (the first is a damn good metroidvania too), good excuse to play it on the old PS5 too

Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite PS1 Games

DrVenture69

I never had that many games on the PS1, it introduced me to Final Fantasy (7), which introduced me to Suikoden. I did love Legacy of Kain too (the Zelda like unlocking based on items). I remember keeping it in a draw when I moved into my girlfriends place and playing it on a 12” TV in the bedroom

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 555

DrVenture69

Lots of Alan Wake 2 (which I’m starting to call the “I don’t know what I’m doing simulator”, but I’m really enjoying it, excellent mixed-media). And a bit of Arizona Sunshine 2, killed 805 Zombies just missing out on the trophy by a couple of levels). Finished up the weekly GT7 races too.

Have a great weekend folks!

Re: How to Transfer Data from PS5 to PS5 Pro

DrVenture69

@MeerkatSimples , yeah ive done that, it just copies the saves not move them. The only downside ive got is if i want to use the psvr2 controllers on the ps5 again i have to re-pair them (push the little reset button, the connected them via cable) its a pain and you cant by the controllers separately

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 553

DrVenture69

I’m finishing off Bendy and the Ink Machine that I’ve had for at least two years and wanted to play over Halloween. I’d have to say it’s more interesting than amazing, but they’ve done a lot with obviously a pretty low budget. Glad I tried it!

Edit: I also finally finished Astrobot (not sure about a platinum though, that Master Challenge, yikes!), and Silent Hill. Getting ready for Alan Wake 2 on the Pro next week (fingers crossed it turns up!)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 551

DrVenture69

Still working my way through Silent Hill 2 and im already looking forward to a replay on the Pro. Just finished up the weekly GT7 races, and only 20 cars left to get (all 20M or hidden behind invites that never pop, literally been waiting a year for some).

I need to get some Arizona Sunshine in too, plus Astrobot and Vampire Survivors as palette cleansers.

Have a great weekend folks!

Re: Mini Review: Arizona Sunshine Remake (PS5) - More Remaster Than Remake

DrVenture69

I’ve just had a very quick go and I was a bit disappointed that the horde mode levels are “almost” identical to AS2. I guess AS2 inherited them from AS1 and tweaked them a bit.

I’m looking forward to playing the actual game, the graphics look a tiny bit different, maybe a bit rougher, but I might be on a different graphics setting to AS2.

I still want to platinum AS2, but finding collectables in VR is a pain, I keep having to lift up the headset to see the laptop to check if I’ve missed something!
