I think I only paid £10 for it first time round (around 2020). I’ve happily chuck them another £10 to let them know I still like this kind of game. So much fun getting chased all over the map by massive hordes. Felt like Serious Sam at times
I’m playing the remake of SS1 at the moment, and it totally captures the atmosphere of the original (which I remember playing while watching The Day Today 30 years ago, which is insane).
I hope they keep the macarena dancing robots in the first one (it’s right at the very start of the game)
Quick PSA, it looks like the Suikoden 1 & 2 remakes are out in a couple of weeks (March 6th). I hadn’t heard anything about them in months, so I know what I’m doing in a couple of weeks
@PushSquareUser i know, i didnt end up getting Horizon Zero Dawn 2. I took over a year to get ragnarok. I do really want to play Jedi Survivors again (loved that), and i was halfway through a replay of Dead Space when i got the Pro. Thankfully there are still loads of great games around (subnautica, animal well, lorelei and the laser eyes)
Im still trying to get into Ragnarok, but wow its a slog for me. Not into the combat, too many systems, long periods where nothing happens (Ironwood). I know loads of people love it, but i think it might just not be for me (which is fine). I feel like ditching it for now and playing Dead Space now ive got my PS5 drive
@ThomasHL yep, “Fail Fast”. Yeah, I guess so, the larger a company the more visible. I’ve got a lot more interest in Indies now, games like Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, Animal Well. So good. The bigger games just tend to feel like they were designed by committees and focus groups, to me.
Well, just tried Doom, Doom 2016, House of the Dead Remake & Vampire Survivors, and keyboard works okay, but no mouse aim (it does recognise the mouse and keyboard through a separate usb hub which is nice)
Weird that Doom 1 & 2 have it, but not Doom 2016 or Eternal! As much as I love the PS5, I do miss mouse and keyboard with FPS’s. I haven’t tried mouse/keyboard on a console since PS3 which was laggy and horrible as all hell. I’ll have to pull out that old Microsoft Intelimouse ball mouse with serial to USB adapter! @Jrs1, right there with you!
The only way it would have messed with my weekend was if id wanted to play the GT7 weekly races (which id done on Friday), that the closest i come to online gaming
Glad I finished the weekly GT7 races yesterday. I didn’t even realise PSN was down until I read it here though. Subnautica 2 all the way today. I think I’m pretty close to finishing, so maybe a bit of Ragnarok.
Have a great weekend Folks (if you’re not planning to play online that is…)
To me, scifi is Soma, System Shock, and even Headlander (maybe im thinking more 70s scifi, ooooh, there should be a Zardos game! Copywrite, me! Patent pending😂)
Maybe there should be a distinction between a scifi setting and thru-and-thru scifi, otherewise Space Invaders should be in there
I don’t even browse the store anymore. I rely on PushSquare to tell me whats good! Serious, I just use my wishlist now. If they’d group everything into a single tile for a game that would help, not 4 pages of Power Wash Simulator DLC
It can be interesting seeing “how the sausage is made”, it’s rarely down to what the developers can do at this scale, more about people higher up in the food chain. If the No Man’s Sky had been part of a bigger company, it would have probably gone this way
I’m using Inzone H9’s which are fine, and nice to have a wireless connection via the dongle, while being able to listen to Bluetooth at the same time.
I’m tempted to go Bluetooth APTX-LL (Low latency) which I’ve got downstairs for TV/games, and has removed lipsync issues (the headphones are fairly cheap Sennheiser on-ear which are a bit pinchy) with a Avantree APTXLL transmitter.
I used to love my Turtlebeach 800’s but they fell apart after 5 or 6 years. Steelseries Siberia 800’s were good but no noise-cancelling.
So my wishlist is:
Wireless
Multi input (i.e. Spotify via Bluetooth, Guitar via jack/RF for PS5 at the same time)
Noise-cancelling
Good 3d audio
A little mixer downstairs with bluetooth transceiver (for Spotify on the phone), and audio from a HDMI splitter into an APTx-LL to APTx-LL headphones works okay, but I’m not sure about the PS5 output from the HDMI splitter (whether I’m getting 3D audio)
Just wished there was a headset which did all that!
@HonestHick, did your head-rest (foam thing) last more than three months? Mine’s duct-taped 😂. Great headphone i could have used a 3.5mm jack socket too though
@TimeDelayedGamer I think you might have mentioned it was good to me! I’d some negative comments, and you put me right . The first one was cracking and I’m absolutely loving the second. The next one is going to be a day-one purchase
I’ve abandoned everything else except Subnautica Below Zero (underwater survival / base building if you didn’t know). I wanted to play Ragnarok, but it won’t let me! So addictive!
Oh, and taking a look at the video game magazine site mentioned on the site a couple of days ago (Digital Archive at VGHF Library)
I was looking through my old Crash and Atari ST user binders over Christmas. So many memories! Internet Archive Magazine Rack has tonnes of old uk magazines too including CV&G. Definitely checking this out over the weekend
@themightyant youre absolutely right, if i wanted a 20M car it would take me a month of doing that race every day for 30 mins. I bet there are tonnes of people who buy credits, get the car, then never use it! That race is so much fun when it starts raining heavily and everyone is on the wrong tyres. Its like Spa F1 in ‘97 😂
@themightyant OMG, 758 hours! . Wowsa. I spent a few months grinding the Sarthe Touring Car 700 (30 mins per race) each lunch break, which is huge fun with the BMW VGT as it’s like you’re sat on the roof (no cockpit model for VR)
512 out of 523 cars and I’ve never played online or spent anything on MTX (just the 12M plus ones left). GT7 is worth it for VR mode alone (I haven’t played non-VR since I got it).
Its GTA5 on the PS3 all over again, and the want to charge $100 for it. They just need to tone down the graphics or put a performance option in. Im really starting to lose interest in AAA games that put fancy graphics over gameplay and playability. Rant over, i’ll go switch to decafe
Absolutely addicted to Subnautica Below Zero, I started it on the PS5 and I’ve just started a new game on the Pro so I’m playing two at the same time. I couldn’t think what to play, and this has really scratched an itch.
I’m replaying 2016 on and off at the moment. I didnt like Eternal because it just didn’t flow for me, it just seemed to be arena after arena fighting multiple hordes. I’m old school I loved the running around areas exploring in 1 & 2. I am going to play Eternal again soon, but I hopefully the more sandbox approach will feel less staccato (I also kinda want it to feel like Hexen!)
Just started Ragnarok, which has an appropriately chilly vibe as my heat’s out and wont be fixed until Monday. Im holed up in my little office using the PS5 to keep warm. How very Dickensian! Im going to be using Sambuca as antifreeze tonight.
Oh, and i just got a dvd drive from Sony, so they are out there. Less than 24 hours from ordering to delivery, which was pretty darn good
@B0udoir , the naked woman on the lawn in Blue Velvet was based on his real life experience (I guess in Missoula Montana). That seedy underbelly is everywhere!
I started rewatching Twin Peaks randomly the year before season 3 was announced, and I’ve watch all three every year since. I was going to skip it this year, but not now.
I loved how he didn’t give people what they wanted, he gave them what they needed.
Season 3 really divided the fan base, but for my money, I loved it. My favourite of his works (and Flatland of course)
Playing a weird mixture of things at the moment. Im having fun with Maneater on the Pro which seems to fix all the framerate issues (actually looks great!), and dabbling with a replay of The Witness. I got tired of trying to beat the main and DLC final bosses in Blasphemous 2, so ive also restarted Guacamelee 2 which is super fun.
The first one had a few patches so you could set deadzones which made the controls “better”. It was awesome on the dreamcast with twin berettas back in the day. Id love a vr option though. Ive not played anything better than Arizona Sunshine though, including old HotD
@GirlVersusGame , its a while since i played it but i remember it being pretty chill. It’s not Blasphemous/Super Meatboy levels of nonsense, but if you want to 100% there are some very tricky jumping parts. I think it’s the kind of game you can enjoy and finish without 100%-ing. I really want to replay it now!😄
@breakneck Castlevania Symphony of the Night is still a fantastic metrodvania (pretty much where the name came from). I couldnt get in to Rondo of Blood though. I only played both of them a couple of years ago for the first time
Just finished Lorelei and the Laser Eyes. Absolutely fantastic game. It’s one of those games you wished you could play again for the first time.
I bought God of War: Ragnarok in the sale about a month ago so guess what im play ing! That’s right! Guacamelee! (Someone mentioned it last week and i couldn’t get it out my head).
Nobody Saves The World (also by Drinkbox Studio’s also looks cool).
I must give Stella Blade a go, but right now Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is my game of the year with Animal Well a close second. It’s driving me crazy (i need to get a cork board and some red string), but i’m obsessed with it
I’ve become obsessed with Lorelei and the Laser Eyes. 20 hours in, 41.7% done and no cheating. I’ve not made some many notes on a game since the 80’s. Even emailed images and edited them in MS Paint. If you like puzzlers (finding objects, decoding things), this is definitely worth a look.

Mine goes into rest mode if I’m away from it for 10 minutes, but I always shut it down. Not a big fan of paying for something I’m not using.
For me at least, it seems to take longer to come out of rest mode that to boot up and start a game from scratch (both the Pro and my old one)
