There were some fantastic remakes this year, but I really wanted to give a shout out to some indies I loved, so I’ve voted for Animal Well, Pacific Drive and Crow Country. Rebirth and SH2 were also awesome
@Gremio108 Soma, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (gorgeous looking game back in the day, haven’t play it in quite a while) and Firewatch are worth a look. The Stanley Parable is cool too.
I’m going to play a bit of the fantastic Nostalgia-fest which is Lumo. It’s my Christmas game and brings back loads of Spectrum memories (it’s an isometric platform / adventure with loads of nods to the microcomputer era).
Also a bit of Blasphemous 2, getting near the end. Slowly enjoying Lies of P to, but I think I still prefer LotF.
I’m also playing a bit of Arizona Sunshine while it’s very windy and grey here in the UK, or as I call it Always Sunny in VR-adelphia.
@Jayslow i know! I was shocked when found i couldnt get another pair, i wanted to get some for the old PS5, pairing them is a bit of a faff. Ill have to stop punching the wall! I wonder if they do repairs for your controller
I moved in with my first girlfriend in a little rented two-up-two-down, and got it so i could still play games. I kept it in a little drawer in the bedroom and played it on a 12” tv. It sounds so Dickensien now, but i loved it. Ff7 lead me to find Suikoden 2 in a bargain bin at Game, which made me fall in love with JRPGs. I don't consider myself a Sony fanboy 30 years later. I just haven't seen anything better
Edit: i have to say my first experience with VR was a similar experience three or four months ago. Reminded me of first playing Doom in 1984
I loved the PS1, but there are some games ive got incredible memories of on the PS2 so it had to be that. GT3 (which i still play occasionally), GTA San Andreas and Vice city. Plus the fact you could play PS1 games!
Just finishing up Alan Wake 2 (woo! Just got the platinum!) which has some issues but I think it’s the most imaginative AAA game I’ve played in quite a while. Bit more Blasphemous 2 to do the I might have a look at Nine Sols. Gonna take another crack at Lies of P too.
@Darude84 i felt a bit sick playing gt7 initially, especially with cars with a lot of body roll, but it went after a couple of days and ive put 100 hours plus in since July and never felt it again. Btw Arizona Sunshine is fantastic if you like shooting zombies 😉🧟♂️
@thedevilsjester I know what you mean, it was the same with Drive Club. At 700+ hours, I feel I’ve got my money’s worth already. Hopefully as @MrHabushi says, it’ll get an offline patch, but by that time GT8 will be out on the PS6
@Balaam_ , you do need to be online to play anything other than arcade mode. It’s not been an issue for me except when they do maintenance, then it can be down for a couple of hours (like 6AM - 8AM, on one day, maybe once every couple of months). If you’ve got bad internet I guess it might throw you out of a race, but I’ve not had that happen in the last 2 years
As someone who really wanted a single play GT game, I’m still playing this (regular GT7)
nearly every day after 2 years. The driving is just so much fun, getting a sub five minute lap of the Nurburgring in a Dodge Tomahawk is a blast. I finished most of the single player element in a couple of weeks, but I keep coming back to Pokemon cars (about 15 left to get). I’ve never touched an online race either. Even with out VR it’s fun, I just love it with VR now though, can’t play it pancaked any more
Still going through Alan Wake 2 on the Pro but the scene changing is driving me nuts in the cinema. Might have to take a break. I’ve unblocked myself on Blasphemous 2 by getting the double jump and loving it again (the first is a damn good metroidvania too), good excuse to play it on the old PS5 too
I never had that many games on the PS1, it introduced me to Final Fantasy (7), which introduced me to Suikoden. I did love Legacy of Kain too (the Zelda like unlocking based on items). I remember keeping it in a draw when I moved into my girlfriends place and playing it on a 12” TV in the bedroom
I just hope they get an 8k / ray tracing / 120fps patch out for Vampire Survivors. That’d be sweeeeet. Seriously, though, it was almost the first game I played on the Pro
Lots of Alan Wake 2 (which I’m starting to call the “I don’t know what I’m doing simulator”, but I’m really enjoying it, excellent mixed-media). And a bit of Arizona Sunshine 2, killed 805 Zombies just missing out on the trophy by a couple of levels). Finished up the weekly GT7 races too.
I’ve been holding off on Alan Wake 2 until the Pro came, so having fun with that. Wow, it’s a pretty game. Just got to the diner which is almost identical to the RR in Twin Peaks, nice little nod. Have a great weekend folks!
@MeerkatSimples , yeah ive done that, it just copies the saves not move them. The only downside ive got is if i want to use the psvr2 controllers on the ps5 again i have to re-pair them (push the little reset button, the connected them via cable) its a pain and you cant by the controllers separately
@Loamy 😂. I feel your pain! Copilot told me you couldn’t just plug in the ssd (obviously a Microsoft plot!). Ive spent most of today transferring 3.4TB from an external hd
@HappyGamerGirl Well said. If they’re not interested, go read/respond to another article. I think i’m going to be a bit more brutal with the mute button too
@Yozora146_ with ray tracing its very shiny, i think i prefer the smoothness of performance. I need to take another look at if the resolution looks better tomorrow
@CWill97 i put a usb microscope on it to see if its still textured with the playstation symbols (it is😂). I also had to google what to do with the “stands”!
I’m finishing off Bendy and the Ink Machine that I’ve had for at least two years and wanted to play over Halloween. I’d have to say it’s more interesting than amazing, but they’ve done a lot with obviously a pretty low budget. Glad I tried it!
Edit: I also finally finished Astrobot (not sure about a platinum though, that Master Challenge, yikes!), and Silent Hill. Getting ready for Alan Wake 2 on the Pro next week (fingers crossed it turns up!)
I was like, £3.99, sure ill give it a shot. After about half an hour id bought all the dlc. I’m happy to support the folks, the game is so much fun and theres so much to unlock. Must have put 70 hours in to it in a couple of weeks
Just finished my first run through of the Arizona Sunshine Remake, excellent if a bit short. Then I discovered it’s got two DLCs as well, so bonus! Also trying to clear my first run of Silent Hill 2 before the Pro comes, then it’s on to Alan Wake 2.
Still working my way through Silent Hill 2 and im already looking forward to a replay on the Pro. Just finished up the weekly GT7 races, and only 20 cars left to get (all 20M or hidden behind invites that never pop, literally been waiting a year for some).
I need to get some Arizona Sunshine in too, plus Astrobot and Vampire Survivors as palette cleansers.
I’ve just had a very quick go and I was a bit disappointed that the horde mode levels are “almost” identical to AS2. I guess AS2 inherited them from AS1 and tweaked them a bit.
I’m looking forward to playing the actual game, the graphics look a tiny bit different, maybe a bit rougher, but I might be on a different graphics setting to AS2.
I still want to platinum AS2, but finding collectables in VR is a pain, I keep having to lift up the headset to see the laptop to check if I’ve missed something!
Its a solid 8 for me. Its not all bells and whistles and full on current gen, but its such a great recreation of the original. I actually dug out the 2001 PS2 version and watched the Making Of dvd (im sure its on youtube, it was really interesting seeing the designers talk about Eros and Thanatos and the fact Eddies physical model was based one one of their friends). But, watching it, the 2001 game looks really dated and the voice acting of James and Laura isnt great. It could gave been a poisoned chalice, but Blooper team pulled off something special. My only real gripe at the moment, is there doesnt fell like theres a lot of the original music
Loving Silent Hill 2, it’s one of those remakes which feels like the original did in your head. I’ve just got to the toilet scene, and I keep hearing Groundskeeper Willie saying “Ach! You’ve got yerself a little friend!”
@Kraven , just a heads up, I’ve just finished Blasphemous and if you want to platinum it definitely use a guide (62 hours, 92.81% complete map, 57% of the trophies). I missed out on the good ending because I started a boss fight too early (after beating two other really hard bosses).
@Mintie best of luck! Ive been there, hopeful you’ll get something even better than your last one🙂. Your name always reminds me if a character in Spaced😄
@Shepherd_Tallon AS2 is so much fun, I play half an hour of horde mode every couple of days. I think I’ve played more horde mode than the single play, and I never do that! The remake of the original is out in a week or so too
@Shepherd_Tallon i started playing RE Village in PSVR2 over the weekend and, yeah, that was a bit intense. I went back to Arizona Sunshine 2 after an hour to lighten the mood. I actually think the gunplay is better in AS2, it feels a bit light in REV, but REV looks so good, fantastic use of HDR
I really want to hang on for the weekend, im so close to finishing Blasphemous and i know it will end up on the backlog if i dont. Really looking forward to it!

Re: PlayStation Wrap-Up 2024 Offline for Almost a Full Day
2028 hours played (84 solid days, wow!), 166 in VR, 909 trophies (probably mostly Vampire Survivors!😂). @Anke still thrashed me!😄
The question is, what was i doing with the rest of my time. Probably wasting it with work and other nonsense!

Painkiller was a great fps back in the day, so many secrets to find. I wish they’d remake that and start making more

I’ve still got mine (and all the other generations). Ah the mid-90s, lad/lad-ette culture, rubbish beer and Wipeout (replete iconic 90s music).
