Update []: Oblivion Remastered's first update is out now on PS5 — as was promised by Bethesda and developer Virtuos last week.
Patch 1.511 aims to fix numerous crashing issues and prevalent bugs, some of which relate to broken quest progression. It's a hefty 13.2GB download on Sony's system.
Given that the remaster released well over a month ago at this point, we doubt these kinds of fixes will bring much excitement to existing players — but we're at least heading in the right direction.

Bethesda has stated that a second update, focusing on technical performance, is also in the works, and should hopefully launch sooner rather than later.
You can read through the full patch notes in the original article below.
Original Story: It's been more than a month since the release of Oblivion Remastered. Players have been waiting weeks for word on an update — something to address the game's numerous performance issues and bugs — and the silence has finally been broken.
Patch 1.1 is set to launch next week, on the 11th June. A second update has also been promised, but we don't have a specific timeframe yet.
The good news is that it the first patch is looking to fix a number of frustrating problems, like quest-related blockers and repeatable crashes.
The bad news is that the patch notes don't mention anything about frame rates or general performance — both of which could really do with a boost on PS5. The aforementioned second update is apparently going to tackle those problems, so we'll just have to wait...

The post says they will focus on performance in the next update. Good they are making fixes.
Too little too late
@KundaliniRising333 Is it tho?
All it takes is for them to fix it in time for a summer sale… Then we’ll have article about how it fix, and it on sale… etc etc etc
I dont have high expectations that they will ever fix the performance issues on this game, but I would prefer to be proved wrong.
Bad news: it was and still is a Bethesda game
Wait, no fix for the arena quest bug? Am I missing it? It’s pretty widespread, and, most importantly, preventing me from progressing.
Bethesda….
Did no one playtest this before the shadow drop? Many of these bugs, crashes and game breaking glitches have been well documented for literal DECADES. It’s the same broken mess that released on 360.
Looking forward to going back to this next week! I broke my day one purchase rule for this but after 8-9 hours I had to put it down and move on to other things. Two quests in particular glitched and completely blocked me out. Hopefully this fixes that with another update later on to help performance issues too!
Well a couple more patches and then maybe its time to get it 😅
@Balaam_ The probably took the original sourcecode and built on that. Including the original bugs...
Edit : They*
Rule 1: Never buy games day one.
Rule 2: Never buy Bethesda games year 1.
Thanks at least for the local minimap showing as default in interiors. A little late though. Platted it yesterday 😞 Think I'll be buying ES6 a year after release if it actually gets released in my lifetime.
I really should have thought this purchase through before hitting 'buy'. Bethesda just dont make anything with care and polish and by the time its fixed it will be reduced.
I guess Im glad fixes will come, but they are not rushing are they?
Saved me having to buy it day one so I'm happy waiting - probably if it appears in a sale? Loved the PS3 original.
I’m over 100 hours in - there have been performance issues, but it’s only crashed a handful of times, I think I’m one of the lucky ones.
The fact I’ve just been running around doing bs instead of many guild or main quests may be what’s saved me. Still not got any Oblivion hates though, just ran right past Kvatch, bliss.
Fix the bloody fishing task!
Man that's snail pace, really. I've completed the main Oblivion quest, Knights of the Nine, and I'm about half-way through Shivering Isles now. By the time the patch lands next week I will be playing for about 35 hours hours, which is more that I usually invest in any game. It seems I'll finish Shivering Isles and the only remaining Arena quest well before I'll see the performance patch for the PS5. Not that I didn't enjoy the vanilla version - hence the 35 hours - but it's really buggy and crash-prone, literarilly more buggy and unstable that ANY PS5 game I played since launch. I know the thing with Elder Scrolls mainline releases, but man, it's a 2006 game, already patched enough at the original release.
Does it fix the whole play-15-minutes-and-your-frame-rate-plummets thing?
I platinumed it on Pro and the worst one i had was if you visit Kvatch before visiting Jauffre and giving him the amulet, it locks you out of the main quest. I just started a new run and did it properly.
It’s certainly showing it’s age but still fun
Glad to see there is a massive patch for the game! I started it up for the first time last night and am having a blast, but there were a few technical issues. It’s nice to see the issues I’ve been having have been addressed.
Over 1 month for this?
Yah too late for me. Performance aside. Tainted grail is just a better game in too many aspects.
well, it's already 20% off. I have too many games to play, but really excited to play a fully working version of this game for £30 in a year or so.
Ive been pretty lucky. Only 2 quest bugs so far. One has a natural work around and i haven't tried playing again yet since it crashed. Weird thing is, i keep hearing of common fishing and arena quests that should be broken but aren't for me. Wonder if its a regional thing? Broke my own rule to buy this day one and still happy with it.
Did one of the TG: Fall of Avalon's devs do a hate crime on the internet or something? Surprised at the lack of coverage from big outlets. Imo it outclasses Oblivion easily, but needs patching just as bad.
@Ouch or Atlus RPGs, turns out.
After this update, my game freezes for a split second every 7 seconds. It is so jarring, i had to stop playing
Already 20% off on PS store, and no performance fix - what a mess.
I'm glad there's a patch, but I still don't understand how I was able to put 100+ hours and platinum a "broken mess." Either Bethesda is taking their time and resources to sabotage only certain people for no reason, or, more likely, people are over exaggerating the issues in this game.
Is the performance still donkey balls?
@Zeke68 Not "probably", it was confirmed the same day that they shadow-dropped it. They are running the original Oblivion source code and then using Unreal Engine on top for graphics and animations.
@DaniPooo Just as I thought then.
Just wait for unofficial patches on PC.
