Re: Big Discounts on PS Plus Subs, PS5 Consoles, and PSVR2 in Days of Play Promotion

CaptD

@colonelkilgore No this is the rub, assuming you are on Essentials then you will get 30% off the next two or three months. If you are already on Extra then you can get 25% off the next 12 months, so the best way for you would be to do the 30% upgrade and then in the same offer week do a 25% extension.
I think that is right at least and at this point Sony are really encouraging people to just let their subs expire. My Extra is up in September so I could get 25% off the year but I'm so disappointed in Sony these days that I'm tempted to let it expire and see what Balck Friday / Xmas brings.

Re: Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Earns Physical Edition, Out in September

CaptD

@jorel262 Perp games who also specialise in more niche titles (for example they are doing quite a few psvr2 ones ATM) produce standard edition versions which commonly include a booklet. I recently purchased Vertigo 2 for psvr2 and was surprised it contain a neat booklet showcasing the enemies of the game. These little touches are much appreciated.

Re: Rumour: Hi-Fi Rush Dev Was Pitching Sequel Before Microsoft Closed It Down

CaptD

I can't help but feel like this is a precursor to Gamepass being wound down, remember that comment from obsidian "if it wasn't for Gamepass then this game wouldn't have been made"
I think hifi rush falls into the same category that Pentiment does, small/short low budget games.
We shall see and honestly nothing would surprise me at this point.

Re: Tango Gameworks, Arkane Austin, More Closed in Brutal Bethesda Restructure

CaptD

@colonelkilgore
I don't know what Xbox has done to garner such good faith from gamers because most of us knew this would sort of action was quite likely.
It does make those developers who signed that letter recommending the ABK aquisition (yes I know this is Bethesda, but still) look pretty stupid imo

Can't wait to see Destin's spin on it.
I hope the developers affected land on their feet and even bigger studios sprout from the ashes. Especially sad for Arkane as Prey was a favourite of mine.

Re: Rumour: Resident Evil 9 Reveal and Release Imminent, Out in January

CaptD

Fingers crossed for PSVR2 support and at release, or at least announced that it is coming so people can ensure their first playthrough is the correct one.
Plus PSVR2 support for RE7 would be grand as well, just a simple port would do (for me), dualsense is fine.

@colonelkilgore I always think it is good to be a little behind with RE as they often do gold editions, decent dlc and other things like VR. But I shake my head at someone who is 25+ years behind.

Re: Returnal Studio Housemarque Teases News for Tomorrow

CaptD

Fingers crossed for PSVR2 although that would be highly unlikely and tbh it is starting to feel like if you want any First party games in VR then get a PC. The June showcase can't come soon enough.
(Apologies for the moan, the Monday blues have taken over )

Re: Interview: Hangar 13 on TopSpin 2K25's Triumphant PS5 Return

CaptD

After the complete mishandling of Mafia 3 trophies I won't touch another Hanger 13 game.
First the game was released broken, then fixed, then broken and finally abandoned. See the thread on psnprofiles for more info, that thread is now many many pages deep, people have even created patch regression tools for that one blasted game.

Re: Xbox Planning to Release the 'Majority' of Its Exclusives on PS5

CaptD

How Phil, Matt and Aaron avoided being part of the 1900 ex employees is beyond me.
But hey not content with failing in the console space they now want to fail in the handheld space. Absolutely bizarre.
Of course the crazy shilling fanbase and shilling media is partly to blame, I still remember the end of first year report by the dimwits on IGN, if I remember rightly they gave the PS5 after Returnal, Astro, Demons Souls a B- grade and gave the "we have nothing" Xbox a B. Bonkers.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 521

CaptD

Just finishing up House of Ashes, pretty good even if a bit dark and less than likeable characters.
Also started Tales of Arise.

@Darude84 That is a great deal and I would have jumped at that but unfortunately I live in the U.K., thanks for posting though and I will wait for a similar deal over here....I'm in no rush though as I'm still enjoying PSVR1.

Re: GTA 6 on PS5 Will Seemingly Include ScHoolboy Q's Music

CaptD

@Shushibda Indeed, the 80s were the best and one of the reasons I dislike GTA5 was because the radio stations just didn't appeal to me. I do like to just cruise around listening to some block rocking beats (90s stuff was pretty good as well although the decline was clearly audible).
Again, personal opinion.

Re: PS Plus Essential Game for March 2024 Leaked

CaptD

Wasn't too interested in this game initially as it seemed too rage inducing, for me at least, but since they have introduced an easier mode I'm quite looking forward to it.

@colonelkilgore Turning off the PS3 might help.

Re: 900 PlayStation Employees Laid Off, London Studio Closed

CaptD

Hope everyone affected lands on their feet.
I know it is popular to blame Jim for all of this but I also think Hermen is equally responsible, if not more so....can't wait for that Horizon remaster.
I won't go on about my previous psvr2 comment but I would have thought the easy money would have been to move London Studio over to a PSVR1 port studio as I'm sure many PSVR2 owners would gladly pay to play their beloved PSVR1 games again, not to mention new to PSVR games as many PSVR1 are still unbeaten.

Re: Video: One Year Later, Is PSVR2 Doing Enough?

CaptD

I suspect Gamertag will lose his bet.
Before the PC announcement I would have put it at one or two this year but now I think zero which is sad, even upsetting. I hope to be wrong as it has put me right off purchasing one until more PSVR1 first party ports(hell even one would be nice) or announcements (I did hear that Twisted Metal might be coming as a hybrid game).

Re: Sony Testing PSVR2 Compatibility on PC, Aiming for This Year

CaptD

@thefourfoldroot1 I hope you are correct because when I read this story my immediate thought was "oh dear first party software support looks even more unlikely now".
Unlike many people I don't see the positives from this (for ps5 players) although I guess it might be the cost of the headset down in the long term so there is that.
I hope I am wrong with all the negative thoughts.
