@SpinEnDash
Kayak is probably one of the last ones to play (after Aces of Thunder) if you are trying to avoid any issues imo.
For safe games, try Puzzling Places which I rate very highly, Demeo , Max Mustard, Ghost signal (highly rated, very cheap), Toy Trains, EDIT Moss.
I also think you might still get on with GT7 because you are placed in an environment where you are focused on looking forward and is more natural than bobbing around in the water, pick a slow car and see how you go. As I say there is a free starter pack (whatever it is called).
But most of all, take your time and don’t push it.
Last year was a great year for PSVR2 and this year is looking to be equally great if not better but of course it is dead for some and that decision was made before it even released. Last year we had Hitman which (I guess) Sony paid for but don’t forget that they have continued to expand VR support across most of the Hitman content (Freelancer etc..) which (again I guess) goes past their remit, ask them if it is dead.
I do welcome PushSquare’s coverage of PSVR2 as they are one of the very few main stream gaming websites that covers PSVR2 content, I just wish they were a bit more positive. MSFS 2024 is on the way you know?! And possibly RE9, yes I can still dream.
@SpinEnDash I hope you enjoy your headset, there is hundreds of games for it and as for GT7, I never had much interest in it before VR. There is a starter game which you can download for free and it supports VR as far as I know. Also check out PSVR Without Parole on YouTube for a Top50 list, most of which I agree with.
Half the problem with Xbox is that the consumer doesn’t know where they are from one week to the next. I do think though if they go the exclusive route then they need to drop day one on Gamepass which tbh they are already moving towards by raising the top tier pricing (again consumer not knowing where things are going).
Fantastic job on platting this wonderful game Stephen, I’m surprised you said it wasn’t tough as the challenges got the better of me. Delightful game with bags of charm.
@Pat84 Totally agree. I’m waiting to see whether a VR mode will turn up, the VR community has certainly been vocal about it (the PS Blog was awash with VR comments). It would be a major miss if they don’t implement it but I fear without Sony greasing palms it probably won’t happen, not on PS5 at least. Fingers crossed.
Big fan of the previous two games so I’m pleased it is reviewing well although ACG, whom is also a fan did give it a “Wait for sale” but I think this was down to stuttering and other possibly PC only issues (what do DF call it #Stutterfest).
I’m not a hater, I just couldn’t care less. Bungie was always on the MP/GaaS path, the problem I have is when studios that are known to develop a particular type of game (ie SP) suddenly pivot into GaaS resulting in delays for their “traditional” games. The pipelines seem to be in a mess at the moment.
@Member_the_game
I think the promotion is customer dependant as I’ve read some people haven’t been offered a deal despite them not currently having a subscription.
Plus the offers for me also include 25% off Extra (@ ~£74 so £3 extra for Premium @ 35% off). Essential isn’t on sale but (I think) it rarely is these days, Sony are pushing people to the higher tiers for their stats imo.
As much as I enjoyed Returnal the dodgy exchange rate employed by Sony ensures that I will get a physical version and most likely on the Pay Less Play Later scheme.
Nice, very generous of the Warhorse / Deep Silver especially as the game has been dirt cheap in the sales. I shall revisit at some point but it is quite the time commitment.
I wonder if anyone ( perhaps @Dogbreath ) can answer this question, in MP you can compete against BOTs (as far as I’m aware), can you also play against BOTs if you don’t have PS Plus? Many games check (inc game servers) before presenting the MP menu which has proved very annoying especially when the servers go down, anyway I digress.
Nice(ish) lineup, shame my sub is expiring (no lie) and I already have AC7 so not missing too much.
AC7 players: be sure to take advantage of the bump in player count to get the MP trophies (and medals) if you want them as MP is normally deader than a Norwegian Blue.
Oh and dig out that PSVR1 headset as the three VR missions are awesome.
Not really my bag but I’m all for wacky ideas. Good state of pl...err direct...err developer direct, I’m interested in three out of four shame that Forza 99.99% won’t support VR which is pretty much the only racing games mode that I play.
Nice, synth riders does look the more interesting game not that I play rhythm games.
Regarding Beat Saber exclusivity I think exclusives was Meta’s big mistake in their VR push, people buy Quest for a particular reason and likewise with PSVR2 owners and I doubt there is much overlap so Meta have lost the sales of their products on PSVR2 (Beat Saber aside). Plus as many developers have stated, their games sell better on PSVR2 than on Quest.
Just my two cents and no doubt some people including Meta would disagree, anyway it is pretty much all academic now.
@graymamba You will have to tell me what you think of Blood Dragon (somewhere around 2029 I guess). I didn’t actually like it that much but I seem to be very much in the minority there.
@gaston Make that two copies, I bought AC7 for the three VR missions and it was worth buying it for that alone. AC8 without VR just wouldn’t fly with me.
After they mentioned that VR isn’t on the cards I’m not really interested any more which is a shame. Still think VR will come at some point (ever the optimist) but until then my attention will be elsewhere.
According to Sky News... @Czar_Khastik @TimeDelayedGamer Puppeteer is available on PS Plus Premium. I’m tempted to revisit it despite not getting on with it back in day.
I’m playing Borderlands 2, going for that 100% and Tomb raider anniversary (on Premium) which is very much a delightful jank free experience and the Rewind feature on the PS2 emulator removes all the stress and anxiety.
@graymamba
Wow you really should change your name to greenmamba.
I shall be doing my bit by (hopefully) taking to skies before promptly crashing and burning.
@graymamba Yeah it has certainly been my gaming announcement of the year so far, I just hope they can pull it off as the game seems to sometimes have micro stutters which are a bit of a no no in VR and Sony might need to be sweet talked into letting it pass certification. Just my two cents and they did fix the more severe stutters in one of the most recent updates according to a YouTuber I watch.
Watched this video yesterday and apparently it is “s*** hot” Also the Dev says he hopes it will be out by spring. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PzKKgIRHQkk (About three minutes in if anyone is interested)
@StitchJones Ha ha I mean sure if you do the Red Bull air races but the more general aircraft shouldn’t make you sick and if they do then perhaps stick to the airship or hot air balloon. I’ve played quite a lot of the Ace Combat 7 VR missions and even that didn’t do anything to my stomach but then I have my VR legs/wings and everything else (fingers crossed for AC8 at the game awards and toes crossed it will support VR).
Not too interested in this as I never finished it the first time around despite it being one of the very few PS4 launch titles that I had, or that were available tbh. Now if it was Black List Resynced then I would be there day one. (I realise it is Blacklist but that wouldn’t have worked so well ).
@Max_the_German Personally I think this year has been rather good for psvr2 (Hitman, Robo, Vracer, Rush, Demeo, Undead Cit, Maestro plus a few I’m sure I’m forgetting) but with VR it is always a case of whether it appeals or not plus VR legs might discount many of them. Hopefully Thief turns out to be good plus there is always the chance of Aces of thunder which is apparently in Sony certification atm.
@graymamba Wouldn’t you prefer a whole new backlog, a VR backlog? Actually you better not as the VR games tend to (in my experience) have more broken trophies and far fewer guides.
I am tempted to buy a secondary headset though especially as the only place you can buy the controllers is from the Apple store for $250 (I kid you not).
I joined Premium solely for the VR content so when my sub is up in Feb I will be dropping down to Essential.
A bit strange that Arcade paradise is leaving as it seems to have been on the service for 8 months rather than the usual 12 (Rockstar games aside).
