Re: These 13+ PS5, PS4, and PS Plus Games Are Coming Out Next Week (1st-7th December)

CaptD

@Max_the_German
Personally I think this year has been rather good for psvr2 (Hitman, Robo, Vracer, Rush, Demeo, Undead Cit, Maestro plus a few I’m sure I’m forgetting) but with VR it is always a case of whether it appeals or not plus VR legs might discount many of them.
Hopefully Thief turns out to be good plus there is always the chance of Aces of thunder which is apparently in Sony certification atm.

Re: $100 Off PS5 Consoles, PSVR2 for Black Friday 2025

CaptD

@graymamba
Wouldn’t you prefer a whole new backlog, a VR backlog?
Actually you better not as the VR games tend to (in my experience) have more broken trophies and far fewer guides.

I am tempted to buy a secondary headset though especially as the only place you can buy the controllers is from the Apple store for $250 (I kid you not).

Re: Sony's PS Plus Premium Offer for PSVR2 Games Seems to Die Next Month

CaptD

I joined Premium solely for the VR content so when my sub is up in Feb I will be dropping down to Essential.
A bit strange that Arcade paradise is leaving as it seems to have been on the service for 8 months rather than the usual 12 (Rockstar games aside).

As for VR being dead, well PSVR2 has had a great year imo and this month alone has been banging and we still have three games coming on Thursday (Roboquest looks really awesome).
And then next year we have Flight Sim (and hopefully RE9) but I guess VR will always be dead for some.

Re: Random: Fans Can't Believe Halo Is Coming to PS5 Before Killzone

CaptD

Personally I think Killzone is far better than Halo but then I’ve only played the MCC so things might have improved since then.
It is a real shame that Killzone hasn’t been given a basic remaster plus given additional psvr2 support (just basic DualShock will do, nothing fancy with the sense controllers) especially as Killzone3 had 3D (and Move) support. I’m sure it probably wouldn’t be easy but the psvr2 fan base would love it.
Plus I actually think Shadow Fall is extremely underrated, I last played it in 2019 and thought it was an exciting campaign.
Miss the MP which was in-depth.

@graymamba Shame the servers are off otherwise we could play the Killzone 3 campaign.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 594

CaptD

I have a few on the go atm which is unusual for me.
Just started the grind fest that is Aliens Fireteam Elite, this game strikes me as something that started out as a MTX based game.
Aliens rogue incursion VR. A little hot for this atm.
Lies of P. My main game. Enjoying this although little old P does seem to take a battering.
And Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Enjoying this in small doses.

Re: Sony Sued for 'Abusing Its Dominant Position in the Console Market'

CaptD

I think there is a certainly a case here in Europe with the store pricing of first party titles.
When sales are on you often find first party titles more expensive than their US version. I’m not referring to exchange rates but simply the numerical value of the item, for example GT7 in last sale $30, £35 in UK.

Re: Microsoft Rivals PSVR2 with Meta Quest 3S Xbox Headset

CaptD

As a value proposition it is a good deal but it isn’t MS dipping their toe in VR, you won’t be playing Indiana Jones in VR on your Xbox (on your PC modded perhaps).
MS toes were dragged out of VR when they shut down the Bethesda VR programme.

Anyway at least it has Beat Saber, amirite?

Re: Talking Point: Is It Officially Game Over for PSVR2?

CaptD

@Medic_alert
It is a great bit of kit and this last year has seen some really good games not to mention only a few months ago we got one of the best games on system with Hitman.
These doom articles do amuse me because at this point in time the software library is quite extensive although I’m not blind to the multitude of missteps by Sony.

The biggest negative for me and the reason I delayed purchase was the lack of backward compatibility and lack of first party releases/ports (someone explain to me how Persistence is on PCVR but not Psvr2 even though we already have a PS5 version).

Re: Talking Point: Is It Officially Game Over for PSVR2?

CaptD

@Northern_munkey
Dirt Rally is only PSVR1 compatible.
Also I think unless you have purchased the VR dlc (or have the complete disc) then you may be out of luck as it has been delisted. It was pretty great though and I put many hours into that game, all in VR.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 582

CaptD

About to start Cult of the lamb, I quite fancy running a cult as I’m sick of shining my own shoes.
Also, in VR Holiday Simulator (known in some regions as Vacation Simulator). Coming to the end of it now but the sandcastles and ice sculptures are driving me potty.

Enjoy your weekend folks.

Re: Oblivion Remastered Out Now on PS5, Price and Download Size Revealed

CaptD

I checked on the UK store an hour or so ago as I couldn’t believe it was 60 quid (as PushSq initially reported, they have since updated to show £50). Anyway it was on the store then, on the front page so I didn’t even have to search for it (which may have yielded zero results. ).

@Trousersnake I was praying that Sony had put their hand in their pocket and stumped up for PSVR2 support. Shame as it is a wasted opportunity, even more so because we still haven’t had a PSVR2 Skyrim upgrade.
So I too shall be waiting to see what happens as Bethesda have a nasty habit of making you purchase another copy.

Re: Marathon Maker Thinks Players Are Too Toxic for Proximity Chat in New PS5 Game

CaptD

Having proximity chat in MAG was great. Once I snuck into a base, was killing the enemies one by one and heard the panic chatter “I’ve just been killed by so and so”, first time I’d actually thought that I was good at a PvP game.
I don’t really remember any toxicity, even on that occasion although they were annoyed but then again the average age of a MAG player was (I’m guessing) a little higher than most MP games.

Miss MAG, such a good game.

Re: Hands On: Hitman: World of Assassination Is a Must-Play on PSVR2

CaptD

@BowTiesAreCool
Teleporting isn’t supported in this version. There is support for smooth or snap turning.

Great review Aaron and a great port from IOI. A few further tweaks are needed imo (ability to offset holster position, ability to disable holster sound effect, adjustments to body dragging), all very minor things. However I must say I had quite a few crashes today with Sapienza (none with Paris) and I have read a few reports about crashing so they still have a few issues to fix.
But I’m enjoying Hitman psvr2 immensely and this is (for me) a top five psvr2 game.

One word of advice, do the tutorial, if you skipped it then you can find it in the Prologue section. I was watching PS Access play this week, Rob skipped the tutorial and then had a few issues....don’t be like Rob.

Re: Styx Returns for a Third Stealth Game on PS5, Blades of Greed Out This Year

CaptD

@graymamba
I wouldn’t call it an immersive sim.
You basically get a number of missions to complete starting each from a hub area, it isn’t open world. Stealth is the name of the game as you are fairly weak and will die often and nearly every time if fighting more than one opponent (quick saving is essential). You have a number of skills, poisoning food, poison darts, cloning (used more for puzzles than anything).
