Re: Alan Wake Remastered (PS5) - Compelling Thriller Derailed by Tedious, Repetitive Combat

BionicDodo

Personal I enjoyed the combat in Alan Wake far more than in Uncharted or The Last of Us. This feels like a very harsh review to me as I recently played through the original game on Xbox One and absolutely loved it. I actually finished it, which I can't say for several of the highly rated Sony exclusive cinematic action games which sit unfinished on my PS3 and PS4 consoles.

Re: Biomutant (PS4) - The Classic Case of What Could Have Been

Good review, but I wish you guys wouldn't review PS4 Games on a PS5. I'm not against a note in a PS4 review saying something like "we found the frame rate improved when played on a PS5", but I think a PS4 game should be reviewed on a PS4 or PS4 Pro. There are a LOT more PS4s out there than there are PS5s.

"the biggest problem with PSVR has always been the sheer number of them required to use the headset"

Completely disagree. The cables between the PSVR box and PS4 are in my equipment stand and don't bother me at all. I'd say the issues with PSVR in order of importance are:

1. Lack of analogue sticks on Move controllers
2. Resolution is too low
3. Headset having a cable attached can be distracting and often gets caught up with me.
4. Headset is quite bulky and can get a bit hot and sweaty after prolonged periods of play.

Re: Days Gone Director on Skipped Sequel: 'If You Love a Game, Buy It at F***ing Full Price'

BionicDodo

Some film and game franchises have had slow starts and then gone on to great success after building a big audience over time. How well a new IP sold at launch shouldn't be the main barometer for whether it gets a sequel, how well it has done over time and how big a community it has generated should be. His complaint is rather silly. I get it for sequels - if people don't buy #2 at full price then they shouldn't complain about a lack of a #3 - but you can't criticise people for taking time to discover a new IP. And slagging off lots of people who love your game isn't the best way to convince them to support your next effort.

Re: Poll: Is Cyberpunk 2077's Poor PS4 Performance Acceptable?

BionicDodo

This site described the performance on PS4 Pro as OK. As a PS4 Pro owner who doesn't plan on getting a next gen console for some time, I'm glad they released it on PS4. I do wonder if they would have bothered had the One X and Pro not existed though...

To people suggesting it was built for PS4... It was built for PC. Then converted.

Re: Some PS5 Users Are Inserting Their Discs the Wrong Way Round

BionicDodo

My white PS4 Pro is in a place where I can't get my face in front of it and I frequently forget both where the disc drive is located and where the front buttons on it are! None of it is exactly easy to see and I rarely play games off disc or use the front panel controls, so it is easy to forget!

Re: Demon's Souls PS5 Easy Mode Was Considered by Bluepoint, But Felt It 'Wasn't Our Place'

BionicDodo

I'm not particularly good at games, and don't have the time these days to try over and over and over again until I win... However, I have no problem with a game choosing to be hard and not offer an easy option. Climbing mount everest is incredibly difficult and that's the point, not the view from the top. You can take a helicopter ride past the summit but you won't feel the same a week later as the people who climbed it do.

Re: Fans Are Trying to Figure Out if PS5 Has Quick Resume

BionicDodo

@GREGORIAN To be fair, I didn't say quick save was a great feature, the point I was making was that it is an accepted feature by the majority of gamers and would, I am sure, draw lots of complaints if it was removed. All the games I have played recently quick save regularly but also allow for manual saves if the user wishes to (which I often use). This is by far and away the best setup in my eyes as it gives you the best of both worlds. Personally I'm not keen on saving in the middle of a battle/boss fight as it feels a bit like cheating but I'm all for more options so that everyone can be happy. What I really need is the ability to stop my game in the middle of a battle when my real life comes calling. Sometimes I am then denied the ability to resume playing that day and the option to power off my console fully without losing any progress seems good for my electricity bill and the environment.

I am sure that some people will never use this kind of feature, but I can't see how anyone literally can't think of a single reason why anyone would need/want to, which some comments here suggest.

Yeah, anyone who says this is completely pointless or useless can't have a family. It is rare these days that I finish playing out of choice rather than interruption. Even if just from an eco perspective this allows you to suspend your game at any point (not a save point/checkpoint) and then fully turn the console off to save power.

I suspect that one day we will look back on this feature in the same way we do auto saving rather than menu driven saving.
