SNK's recent thing for putting glasses on fighters is really annoying. As a glasses wearer myself, I would rather fight with blurry vision than have my glasses crushed into my eyes with the first punch! Do they not have contacts in South Town?!
"The rating board appears to be quite inconsistent when it comes to how gambling affects an age rating. While some gambling games do have the 18 rating, others don't; Prominence Poker, Texas Holdem Poker: Pokerist, Pure Hold'em World Poker Championship, and The Four Kings Casino and Slots each have a PEGI age rating of 12. "
This is the really infuriating part. Stupid rules are frustrating, but inconsistency in how you apply those rules is inarguably unfair.
This argument often seems to come down to whether or not people have the time and drive to conquer a difficult game, but it isn't as simple as that. Everyone isn't equally good at gaming. Difficulty settings aren't just there to allow people to steamroller through games rather than chipping away at them - I've been playing games for nearly 40 years but I'm still not very good at them! There are games where I play on normal - or even easy - and still have to repeat sections over and over until I get them right. I still get the satisfaction of knowing I've finally beaten them, even if there are higher difficulty settings I dare not try. That said, I have no problem with someone wanting to make a game that provides a challenge that only the bravest, toughest and most nimble need try take on. There are more than enough games that I can play through to completion. Way too many in fact, hence the backlog!
Yeah, I would call this game 'old' but I wouldn't call it a 'classic'. Even playing the PC version at a friend's at the time it became apparent to me very quickly that this was basically a tech demo for CD-ROM more than it was a game. The actual gameplay was pretty dreadful.
PSVR was one instance where I really wasn't interested in physical games. If I started a game in VR and then decided I'd rather play something else, the idea of taking the headset off to go and get a different game, and then get it comfortably fitted on again before starting, was enough of a faff for me to prefer all digital.
@PegasusActual93 The Master System was actually far more successful in Europe than in Japan. By the end of its life they were developing games in Japan but only releasing them in Europe! Growing up in the UK every single kid I knew had a Master System and I only knew one family with a NES. Your point is still valid though - Sega aren't keen on the MS because there's little to no market for it in USA and Japan.
I don't yet have a PS5, or £1010, so I will pickup both after a price drop or two. I have plenty to play right now without needing a PS5 or Series X until I can comfortably afford one.
I went into Rush of Blood with fairly low expectations but was still disappointed. It did nothing for me and I never feel compelled to return to it, which is a shame. This one looks much better though.
@thebizniznizbiz I guess if you're a PC only player then it's the 4th game in a series you've never had the opportunity to play games 1-3 in. I'm quite surprised they didn't release the original trilogy pack first.
I figure there's a decent chance that Astrobot and the Moss games get updates, but the one I most want is Pistol Whip. I'd also love the Jeff Minter games to get updates, but I won't hold my breath on those.
This is very disappointing. My favourite PSVR games were mostly ones that didn't even use the Move controllers, so it's hard to see why they wouldn't be able to work on the PSVR2. Hopefully at least some games get patches.
I'd always said I would wait for PSVR2 before picking up a PS5, but I was originally hoping the thing might be available for less by then, not more! This doesn't bode well for the price of PSVR2 either...
Much as I love King of Fighters games, Fatal Fury is my true love in the fighting game genre. Mark of the Wolves is an all-time classic, but the three Real Bout games have eaten hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of my life and I love them to bits. Bring it on!
See through view was my number 1 most wanted feature for PSVR2! I can handle not being able to see my surroundings while I'm playing PSVR, but I have always wanted a quick way to pause games and see the real world again without the pain of pulling the headset off. Brilliant!
The British Gas research was carried out in 2019 and updated to use today's prices. I think it is safe to assume they weren't testing a PS5 as it didn't exit then! Nor does the article mention PlayStation or any other brand. I would also guess that the PS5 has not yet reached the point where it represents the standard games console in UK houses.
While improved load times attract me, I haven't picked up a PS5 yet as it's a lot of money and there aren't any exclusive games that I feel demand I dump my existing backlog and get on board. That said, PSVR2 sounds really exciting and I'm going to feel a strong urge to pickup a PS5+PSVR2 once it is released. I loved the original - although the Move controllers felt useless for games more complex than Pistol Whip - and this sounds so much better.
@Skywalker1080p I pre-ordered King of Fighters XV from Game Collection and it turned up on the morning of the release day, so hopefully things go smoothly for you too.
@thefourfoldroot @Stragen8 It's probably more a case that individual players have their own sponsorship deals and Nike etc moan at them about the fact that they're pictured wearing Adidas in a game when they should be wearing their logo instead. It's not about fashion sense, it's definitely about money!
@TheRedComet Yeah, that art was beautiful but we'd have been stuck with small rosters or a bankrupt SNK (again) if they had kept it up. Also, I think the 3D models probably allow them to try new things and mess around with new moves and new looks etc without spending years on the animation only to scrap it.
As a man in his forties with a job and kids, I want a game that quietly sits there waiting for me to have time to play it. I can't guarantee I'll be able to play at certain times, or even days, so I don't think these games are for me. But then there are hundreds of games that are for me, so let the people who want Fortnite or Apex play them. Doesn't bother me as I think there will always be more good and interesting single player games out there than I have time to play.
@Shepherd_Tallon Yeah, but FIFA aren't part of this industry. Even if someone bought EA, I guarantee they wouldn't try to make the sports games single platform as they'd risk their licenses, and without them their sports games would be nothing.
@Shepherd_Tallon FIFA would not allow their license to be limited to a single platform. Much like how Sony now has to develop MLB The Show games for Xbox and Switch. I'm sure the same would be true of the NFL and NHL.
The mischievous side of me would find a world where EA were bought by Sony - and FIFA became a PS exclusive - quite funny. The millions of people who buy consoles mostly just to play FIFA, CoD and GTA wouldn't know what to do! If GTA could then become a Nintendo exclusive...
(Note: I am aware that none of the above will actually happen)
I love my PSVR and look forward to trying the new one at some point. I do hope that a decent number of the original PSVR games get updates to take advantage of the new hardware though.
Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+ Ridge Racer 7 Daytona USA Spelunky Ultra Street Fighter IV Peggle Rayman Origins + Legends Skate 3 Fight Night Round 4 Guacamelee! Puppeteer The Darkness Mortal Kombat (9) Zen Pinball 2 (mostly for the sadly departed Plants vs Zombies table)
Is it Championship Edition DX+? I really hope so as I was very disappointed with CE 2 and have always hoped they'd bring that version back as it is fabulous. Always wanted it on Switch, but at least the Steam Deck will give me the perfect portable version.
I never played San Andreas back in the day, so I'm going to give that one a spin on Game Pass and will look to pick the trilogy pack up when it is on sale and has had a load of updates.

This article seems to completely ignore the fact that it's available on PC with higher frame rates. So it isn't really shackled to PS4 or 30FPS.
