Yes I suspect, as you indicate Liam, that means we're not getting a disc version. What a frustratingly silly unintended consequence. I can't help but feel like there was a better way for Playstation to do this cut-off date, like replacing it with an application/submission deadline instead.
@AdamNovice I said you were moaning, because you have been moaning, and now I'm moaning about your moaning. Yours, however, is not a very commiserating or communal type of moaning, more a relentless criticism of people having conversations that seem to make you uncomfortable. Why is that?
Surely you can't expect every article to be catered towards your interests. And yes, this is an opinion peace, you've also commented like this on multiple news pieces too.
I have no issue with you thinking that this is a mountain out of a molehill or making comments to that effect, but is there really a need to repeatedly and cynically belittle articles for or by those who are upset about the news and want to write or read about it?
@AdamNovice Honestly, this endless moaning about a gaming site covering gaming news is becoming far more tiring than the reporting itself. People care about this topic even if you don't.
@DarthAmmii @AdamNovice I really don't get the points here. This is literally the biggest news in gaming in years, directly related to Playstation and something the fanbase feels intensely passionate about. Of-course people want to hear updates and industry reactions to it and of-course traffic benefits news sites.
@Rich33 Oh dear. I understood his username, I just didn't realise that every post he made was sarcastic, the same way I wouldn't think that a profile named 'Joker' was always making jokes.
In retrospect, that last point about sharing your digital library via screenshots is clearly satire. I think I was so rage baited by the first few I didn't stop to read it. Egg on my face.
@BentIeyma I think this is terminal diagnosis for them. The used games market is their bread and butter. In the future, we'll be telling our kids of these magical places that existed when we were young that people would go to to buy and swap games, and where we met people who liked the same obscure titles and swapped gamertags.
But hey, fanboys will tell us that nothing was lost.
@Czar_Khastik How about trying to strongman other people's perspectives instead of braindead posts like this? There are no benefits to physical media as advantageous as "beneficial exclusive [pre-order] bonuses for a great price"? Give me a break.
Maybe you never went to game stores as a kid, but the physical media landscape is a community and a core part of the hobby. If you kill that you kill a large part of gamers meeting up IRL. You kill game collecting, game fairs, meeting up with a mate to swap discs because neither of you can afford both games. There's a lot of soul in the hobby that you don't get from sitting at home, staring at a download bar. And that's one of the more overlooked losses from this transition too.
EDIT: I have fallen for a jest. Someone please pass me the dunce hat, I'll be in the corner.
@AdamNovice Physical format options in some form ARE better than no options at all. Those game key cards at least have a resale value so they won't kill the used game marketplace.
I imagine a large part of this is that nobody wants to play this game on a Series S, so among that 35 million Xbox users is likely a very large percentage who keep the weaker system as a second console, or have since upgraded to PS5.
@Balaam_ It's not AS useless as a code-in-box, because you can at least lend it to others and re-sell it. The disc continues to have value as long as the servers exist to download the game, which they likely will for a VERY long time. But for those in regions with poor internet, and for the sake of long term game preservation, yeah they suck ass.
Thank goodness for that. I'll pick u the physical then as I'm still working my way through a huge backlog and won't be nearly done at Christmas. I'm sure it'll be a great game but it's not the second coming of Christ as so many would have you believe.
This has turned out to be the worst way we could have possibly got Halo on PS5. In fact, the entire Xbox on PS5 initiative has been pretty dreadful when you think about it. They've cut off the thinnest slivers of their franchises, released them at premium cost and where they have received physical releases, they've been 'game key cards'.
Couple that with all the wind-up acts they like to pull, like cancelling then un-cancelling PS5 versions with wishy washy corpo-speak, the Gears E-Day debacle and now this, you've got to feel like they're really reluctant about the whole thing.
It's like they want us to buy their games, but they want us to be as miserable about doing so as possible.
It's a really beautiful system. I've noticed that people are beginning to really appreciate aesthetics again, at the same time that companies are moving away from them in order to favour function and 'ergonomics'. That's all well and good, but something has surely been lost.
There's a beauty and elegance in portables like the Vita, PSP Go and 3DSXL that is totally absent in the Steam Deck, Switch 2 or Playstation Portal. I hope the big companies follow suit and start designing their systems with beauty in mind again. That era of portables felt like a great middle ground.
It feels like we've only just had a massive one recently, so the recent rumours of another with Wolverine GamePlay and another God of War reveal do feel a little sudden. I would more likely be expecting one around June, in the early Summer games fest/E3 season.
I dunno Liam, it is evidence - and not out of the realm of possibility (nor unprecedented) that a director might tease an unannounced game on Instagram.
That being said, when Uncharted does return (whether or not it's Naughty Dog), I really hope they don't run with Cassie as a protagonist. I don't really see the epilogue as them "leaving the door open", but rather closing it on Nate and Elena, giving fans an image to hold onto of their future as they bid farewell.
Chloe though? I'm sure she's got a lot more adventures down the road, and I'd love the next title to be one of them.
I think I'm fairly good at separating the artist from the art, but Ben Kingsley is such an obnoxious ***** that he almost ruins every film he's in for me. It's a shame because Sexy Beast is one of my all time favourites. Hopefully here he's just voicing an animated character so his presence is easier to tune out.
@lazarus11 They likely wanted to preserve a good relationship with them. Playstation and From have a bit of a rocky past dating back to when they published Demons Souls, which Sony didn't have much faith in and somewhat failed commercially.
I'm finally giving Hades a go (picked it up in Asda for £3.74 a couple of years back) I'm totally hooked. Stayed up until the early hours last night to beat a run for the first time. Now I'm awake I just want to jump straight back in. This has me concerned.
@LogicStrikesAgain You may be onto something. That fits really well with Carson's tease in the State of Play and the Jason Schreier quote that Santa Monica's game is "not a new IP but it might feel like one".
I'm so glad. The concept (if it remains the same) for the game is fantastic and there are really cool cultural blends in the world and art direction. It seemed like such an ambitious game that it might crumble beneath it's own weight, so I'm very pleasantly surprised to hear it's still alive. I have faith and am excited. Sometimes you just gotta be.
I never play these kinds of games but I'm actually kinda excited for this? Maybe it's the horses and fantasy world.
An achievable trophy list is a big perk too, because it gives me an objective to aim for which I often miss from multiplayer games.
I appreciate that I'm benefitting from a certain level of novelty that regular F2P shooter players will be missing, but hey. I'm excited for my free game. (Disclaimer: I liked Concord - the gameplay not the writing).
I still remember hearing about the Activision raids on Infinity Ward offices over 15 years ago. It's what I always think of when I hear "West and Zampella'. These were the guys who made Call of Duty Rock n' roll. It's testament To how talented they are that they managed to move on after IW and make such an accomplished studio as Respawn. Truly one of the great legends of modern gaming. Surreal that he's gone so soon.
This is great and continuing the streak of Ubisoft going back to 60fps-ify their PS4 library, but I have to say I'm a little baffled by the choice to prioritise this title while beloved evergreen games like Assassin's Creed Unity, Watch Dogs 2 and Far Cry 3 remain stuck at 30fps.
@MTMike87 I think Sony are thoroughly done with PS4. They could have put Lego Horizon on it (they put it on Switch after all) but opted not to. Really hope they bring it to PS5 though.
