It's a really beautiful system. I've noticed that people are beginning to really appreciate aesthetics again, at the same time that companies are moving away from them in order to favour function and 'ergonomics'. That's all well and good, but something has surely been lost.
There's a beauty and elegance in portables like the Vita, PSP Go and 3DSXL that is totally absent in the Steam Deck, Switch 2 or Playstation Portal. I hope the big companies follow suit and start designing their systems with beauty in mind again. That era of portables felt like a great middle ground.
It feels like we've only just had a massive one recently, so the recent rumours of another with Wolverine GamePlay and another God of War reveal do feel a little sudden. I would more likely be expecting one around June, in the early Summer games fest/E3 season.
I dunno Liam, it is evidence - and not out of the realm of possibility (nor unprecedented) that a director might tease an unannounced game on Instagram.
That being said, when Uncharted does return (whether or not it's Naughty Dog), I really hope they don't run with Cassie as a protagonist. I don't really see the epilogue as them "leaving the door open", but rather closing it on Nate and Elena, giving fans an image to hold onto of their future as they bid farewell.
Chloe though? I'm sure she's got a lot more adventures down the road, and I'd love the next title to be one of them.
I think I'm fairly good at separating the artist from the art, but Ben Kingsley is such an obnoxious ***** that he almost ruins every film he's in for me. It's a shame because Sexy Beast is one of my all time favourites. Hopefully here he's just voicing an animated character so his presence is easier to tune out.
@lazarus11 They likely wanted to preserve a good relationship with them. Playstation and From have a bit of a rocky past dating back to when they published Demons Souls, which Sony didn't have much faith in and somewhat failed commercially.
I'm finally giving Hades a go (picked it up in Asda for £3.74 a couple of years back) I'm totally hooked. Stayed up until the early hours last night to beat a run for the first time. Now I'm awake I just want to jump straight back in. This has me concerned.
@LogicStrikesAgain You may be onto something. That fits really well with Carson's tease in the State of Play and the Jason Schreier quote that Santa Monica's game is "not a new IP but it might feel like one".
I'm so glad. The concept (if it remains the same) for the game is fantastic and there are really cool cultural blends in the world and art direction. It seemed like such an ambitious game that it might crumble beneath it's own weight, so I'm very pleasantly surprised to hear it's still alive. I have faith and am excited. Sometimes you just gotta be.
I never play these kinds of games but I'm actually kinda excited for this? Maybe it's the horses and fantasy world.
An achievable trophy list is a big perk too, because it gives me an objective to aim for which I often miss from multiplayer games.
I appreciate that I'm benefitting from a certain level of novelty that regular F2P shooter players will be missing, but hey. I'm excited for my free game. (Disclaimer: I liked Concord - the gameplay not the writing).
I still remember hearing about the Activision raids on Infinity Ward offices over 15 years ago. It's what I always think of when I hear "West and Zampella'. These were the guys who made Call of Duty Rock n' roll. It's testament To how talented they are that they managed to move on after IW and make such an accomplished studio as Respawn. Truly one of the great legends of modern gaming. Surreal that he's gone so soon.
This is great and continuing the streak of Ubisoft going back to 60fps-ify their PS4 library, but I have to say I'm a little baffled by the choice to prioritise this title while beloved evergreen games like Assassin's Creed Unity, Watch Dogs 2 and Far Cry 3 remain stuck at 30fps.
@MTMike87 I think Sony are thoroughly done with PS4. They could have put Lego Horizon on it (they put it on Switch after all) but opted not to. Really hope they bring it to PS5 though.
It is chump change in the grand scheme of things. Games aren't going to push the needle for Netflix and they'll likely (and correctly) be wanting to stick to the business they know. There's a lot of risk involved in bigger budget game titles - many of Warner Bros. recent releases being prime examples.
@LogicStrikesAgain It's important to remember that this likely isn't what the game would have looked like nor how Sony would have presented it. They've got to be operating on a much lower budget with fewer stakeholders (not always a good thing).
Though yes, this does feel more like a (polished) concept video that I would expect, for a large company, to be shown in internal meetings rather than publicly. It doesn't feel like it really has a marketable identity yet. Likely there's a lot they couldn't take with them when they went indie, legally speaking.
@wildcat_kickz I don't think he needs to play the games to make the film, but this is a hell of a strawman. These fans want him to understand the source material he's adapting, not fight bug creatures on foreign planets IRL (though I appreciate your comment is probably in jest).
12/15 and I'm pretty annoyed at myself for two of them. Had to guess the Astro question as i haven't played it yet (I will, I will). Luckily i guessed right.
@Czar_Khastik I'll bite, but this better not be something you've just made with AI to intrigue, bring people together and spark discussion within the GTA 6 community.
@nomither6 Well Rift Apart was a sequel to Into The Nexus, so it waa a continuation of the saga's story 8 years in the making. I think it really delivered.
I do think the 2016 game is great though, and overhated.
You have no idea how close I came to buying Lego Horizon in the Black Friday sales the other day. I talked myself out of it because my current backlog is so huge. Glad I did.
This is becoming pathetic. Not only have Sony stopped adding their PS1 games, they're now ending up on a different console entirely. If they have a resource problem, they should build another team apart from Implicit. Why are they so bad at these initiatives?
@PuppetMaster I know, I'm lucky enough to have grabbed a physical copy back at release (because they're costly now), but I'm talking about a PS5 remaster which was rumoured last year, which would hopefully include a 60fps version of GR2. As someone who doesn't care about 4K, I'm happy with the PS4 remaster, but I imagine they wouldn't include it with 2 for newcomers.
They supposedly have a film in development (been a little while since last update), so I imagine it would timed to release so that they have a PS5 game on the (digital?) shelves for when the film releases, like they did with the Uncharted Legacy of Thieves collection.
This is neat. I think a third gen PS5 (a la PS3) that's even more discreet would be very cool, I just don't trust Sony to include a disc drive, detachable or not.
It's my primary concern about the PS6. I don't need more power, but a dockable handheld would be fantastic. I just don't see them putting a disc drive in the dock, and I'm not ready to leave physical media behind.
This is a weak month. Stray might be a headliner if it hadn't been played by so many when it launched day 1 on Extra. Really needed one other crowd pleaser to bring it together.
@Oram77 I don't think you followed Sammy's point. "2027 is years away", nobody said they would be staggering SKUs. I appreciate that "years away" feels like more than two, but as far as rumours go, I don't believe there have been any to suggest a staggered release.
It's a predictably unconvincing, empty, nothing answer. This is surely profit/cost motivated - why add more if it de-incentivises further purchases down the road.
Back when they did MCC, I was amazed that every single game had it's multiplayer in tact.
Sure we'll probably get some live service Halo game down the line, but that's really not the point here - people evidently want classic Halo multiplayer, not something new.
I'll stick to my PS3 version. If Legend is anything to go by, this will be a big downgrade. Hopefully It doesn't negate Aspyr doing another remaster trilogy.
