Re: 2016's The Division Now Runs Smoother Than Ever on PS5

This is great and continuing the streak of Ubisoft going back to 60fps-ify their PS4 library, but I have to say I'm a little baffled by the choice to prioritise this title while beloved evergreen games like Assassin's Creed Unity, Watch Dogs 2 and Far Cry 3 remain stuck at 30fps.

Re: Sony London's Cancelled PS5 Game Seemingly Revived as Cast Outs

AK4tywill

@LogicStrikesAgain It's important to remember that this likely isn't what the game would have looked like nor how Sony would have presented it. They've got to be operating on a much lower budget with fewer stakeholders (not always a good thing).

Though yes, this does feel more like a (polished) concept video that I would expect, for a large company, to be shown in internal meetings rather than publicly. It doesn't feel like it really has a marketable identity yet. Likely there's a lot they couldn't take with them when they went indie, legally speaking.

Re: State of Play Announced for 11th November, Focus on Japanese PS5 Games

AK4tywill

@PuppetMaster I know, I'm lucky enough to have grabbed a physical copy back at release (because they're costly now), but I'm talking about a PS5 remaster which was rumoured last year, which would hopefully include a 60fps version of GR2. As someone who doesn't care about 4K, I'm happy with the PS4 remaster, but I imagine they wouldn't include it with 2 for newcomers.

They supposedly have a film in development (been a little while since last update), so I imagine it would timed to release so that they have a PS5 game on the (digital?) shelves for when the film releases, like they did with the Uncharted Legacy of Thieves collection.

Re: Random: Turns Out the PS5 Can Be a Lot Smaller, and You Can Build One Yourself

This is neat. I think a third gen PS5 (a la PS3) that's even more discreet would be very cool, I just don't trust Sony to include a disc drive, detachable or not.

It's my primary concern about the PS6. I don't need more power, but a dockable handheld would be fantastic. I just don't see them putting a disc drive in the dock, and I'm not ready to leave physical media behind.

Re: Halo PS5 Is Great, But Why Doesn't It Have Competitive Multiplayer?

AK4tywill

It's a predictably unconvincing, empty, nothing answer. This is surely profit/cost motivated - why add more if it de-incentivises further purchases down the road.

Back when they did MCC, I was amazed that every single game had it's multiplayer in tact.

Sure we'll probably get some live service Halo game down the line, but that's really not the point here - people evidently want classic Halo multiplayer, not something new.

Re: As Fans Demand inFAMOUS Remasters, Sucker Punch Says It Can Only Work on One Game at a Time

AK4tywill

While they are by no means obligated to work on something they're disinterested in, this is such a dumb excuse. Even if you're a one game studio, a remaster or port is not a full project, it wouldn't tie you up for five years nor would it occupy most of the team. Developers line Naughty Dog have been known to use remasters as projects to onboard new staff. And of course, as mentioned, the most likely answer is to outsource. I think I'd rather they just didn't respond to requests then give unconvincing answers.

Re: PS6 Release Date Touted for 2027, Cheaper But Less Powerful Than Next Xbox

AK4tywill

@naruball This is exactly how I feel. I'm so non plussed about getting a PS6 seeing as I mostly play PS4 games on my PS5 and the console has addressed most of my quality of life improvement needs. I would actually love to just skip the PS6, at least for the first few years. I don't need any more power.

But damn, if there really is a handheld sku then they've just circumvented that whole reasoning. A portable PS5 would be a dream come true. I just hope it's less ugly than all these portable PCs (and I would love a disc drive on the dock so we can continue our physical library).

Re: There's Even More Classic Tomb Raider Coming to PS5, PS4

AK4tywill

While good news, we're getting sub par PS2 versions of these games while superior PS3/360 versions already exist. Like Nessisonett said, I'd much rather receive another remastered trilogy with all the 60fps, 4K etc bells and whistles. They would likely require less effort to put together than the last two collections, I'd imagine.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on 007 First Light?

AK4tywill

I love Bond. I love Uncharted. I love me a bit a schlock, but watching that State of Play I can't help but be struck with just how contrived those sequences are, how bad the writing is and how much more work the voice acting needs. On paper, it's great, but in practice it seems too much a poor imitation of better things.

Re: Eye-Opening PS5 Sales Data Reveals Why Microsoft Is Porting Xbox Games

AK4tywill

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare MLB hasn't always been cross platform. In fact it was quite a big deal when the league mandated to Sony that future releases be multi-platform from MLB 21 onwards.

It was the first time people saw a Sony published and developed title on a competing platform and was arguably the start of Sony's shift to a less rigid policy on platform exclusivity - even if, at the time, they were more pushed than chose to jump themselves.

The games are also developed in-house by Sony's San Diego Studio, so very much a 'real Sony game', even if they don't own MLB themselves.

Re: Rumour: Realistic, First-Person Ghost Recon Game Is Ticking Along, Targeting 2026 Release

AK4tywill

I know we all hate on Ubisoft for various valid reasons (well, 'anti-woke' mob aside), but I really hope they manage to turn the ship around over the next couple of years.

More industry consolidation is not what we need at the moment, and as big money chasing AAA publishers go, I always find Ubisoft's portfolio to be more refreshing and fun than the EAs and Activisions of the world.
