Re: Random: Liverpool Footballer Virgil van Dijk Prefers PS Vita to Steam Deck, Switch 2

It's a really beautiful system. I've noticed that people are beginning to really appreciate aesthetics again, at the same time that companies are moving away from them in order to favour function and 'ergonomics'. That's all well and good, but something has surely been lost.

There's a beauty and elegance in portables like the Vita, PSP Go and 3DSXL that is totally absent in the Steam Deck, Switch 2 or Playstation Portal. I hope the big companies follow suit and start designing their systems with beauty in mind again. That era of portables felt like a great middle ground.

Re: Rumoured PS5 State of Play Looking Impossible This Week

AK4tywill

It feels like we've only just had a massive one recently, so the recent rumours of another with Wolverine GamePlay and another God of War reveal do feel a little sudden. I would more likely be expecting one around June, in the early Summer games fest/E3 season.

Re: Uncharted Fans Think a Social Post Is Evidence of New PS5 Entry

AK4tywill

I dunno Liam, it is evidence - and not out of the realm of possibility (nor unprecedented) that a director might tease an unannounced game on Instagram.

That being said, when Uncharted does return (whether or not it's Naughty Dog), I really hope they don't run with Cassie as a protagonist. I don't really see the epilogue as them "leaving the door open", but rather closing it on Nate and Elena, giving fans an image to hold onto of their future as they bid farewell.

Chloe though? I'm sure she's got a lot more adventures down the road, and I'd love the next title to be one of them.

Re: Beyond Good & Evil 2 Director Passes Comment on Ubisoft's Major Reshuffle

AK4tywill

I'm so glad. The concept (if it remains the same) for the game is fantastic and there are really cool cultural blends in the world and art direction. It seemed like such an ambitious game that it might crumble beneath it's own weight, so I'm very pleasantly surprised to hear it's still alive. I have faith and am excited. Sometimes you just gotta be.

Re: Game Awards Closer Highguard Lives! PS5 Trophy List Live Now

AK4tywill

I never play these kinds of games but I'm actually kinda excited for this? Maybe it's the horses and fantasy world.

An achievable trophy list is a big perk too, because it gives me an objective to aim for which I often miss from multiplayer games.

I appreciate that I'm benefitting from a certain level of novelty that regular F2P shooter players will be missing, but hey. I'm excited for my free game. (Disclaimer: I liked Concord - the gameplay not the writing).

Re: Vince Zampella, Call of Duty Co-Creator and Respawn Boss, Tragically Dies Aged 55

AK4tywill

I still remember hearing about the Activision raids on Infinity Ward offices over 15 years ago. It's what I always think of when I hear "West and Zampella'. These were the guys who made Call of Duty Rock n' roll. It's testament To how talented they are that they managed to move on after IW and make such an accomplished studio as Respawn. Truly one of the great legends of modern gaming. Surreal that he's gone so soon.

Re: 2016's The Division Now Runs Smoother Than Ever on PS5

AK4tywill

This is great and continuing the streak of Ubisoft going back to 60fps-ify their PS4 library, but I have to say I'm a little baffled by the choice to prioritise this title while beloved evergreen games like Assassin's Creed Unity, Watch Dogs 2 and Far Cry 3 remain stuck at 30fps.

Re: Sony London's Cancelled PS5 Game Seemingly Revived as Cast Outs

AK4tywill

@LogicStrikesAgain It's important to remember that this likely isn't what the game would have looked like nor how Sony would have presented it. They've got to be operating on a much lower budget with fewer stakeholders (not always a good thing).

Though yes, this does feel more like a (polished) concept video that I would expect, for a large company, to be shown in internal meetings rather than publicly. It doesn't feel like it really has a marketable identity yet. Likely there's a lot they couldn't take with them when they went indie, legally speaking.

Re: State of Play Announced for 11th November, Focus on Japanese PS5 Games

AK4tywill

@PuppetMaster I know, I'm lucky enough to have grabbed a physical copy back at release (because they're costly now), but I'm talking about a PS5 remaster which was rumoured last year, which would hopefully include a 60fps version of GR2. As someone who doesn't care about 4K, I'm happy with the PS4 remaster, but I imagine they wouldn't include it with 2 for newcomers.

They supposedly have a film in development (been a little while since last update), so I imagine it would timed to release so that they have a PS5 game on the (digital?) shelves for when the film releases, like they did with the Uncharted Legacy of Thieves collection.

Re: Random: Turns Out the PS5 Can Be a Lot Smaller, and You Can Build One Yourself

AK4tywill

This is neat. I think a third gen PS5 (a la PS3) that's even more discreet would be very cool, I just don't trust Sony to include a disc drive, detachable or not.

It's my primary concern about the PS6. I don't need more power, but a dockable handheld would be fantastic. I just don't see them putting a disc drive in the dock, and I'm not ready to leave physical media behind.

Re: Halo PS5 Is Great, But Why Doesn't It Have Competitive Multiplayer?

AK4tywill

It's a predictably unconvincing, empty, nothing answer. This is surely profit/cost motivated - why add more if it de-incentivises further purchases down the road.

Back when they did MCC, I was amazed that every single game had it's multiplayer in tact.

Sure we'll probably get some live service Halo game down the line, but that's really not the point here - people evidently want classic Halo multiplayer, not something new.
