Sony's Rumoured Handheld May Be Years Away, But Ghost of Tsushima Is Steam Deck Verified Now 1

Sony has updated Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut on PC to add Steam Deck compatibility.

While verification isn’t necessarily required to run a release on Valve’s handheld, it does symbolise that additional work has been invested to ensure playability has been optimised.

As part of the Patch Notes on the game’s Steam page, port studio Nixxes said: “The game now includes a Steam Deck graphics preset, and we are excited to share that the single player game is now officially Steam Deck verified.”

It’s important note that the Steam Deck functionality is reserved for the single player component only right now, and another tweak to the game means the Legends multiplayer mode has now been separated from the solo campaign.

This means those who want to save storage space or simply have no interest in the online co-op can leave it uninstalled. Everyone else can download it separately as a free piece of DLC.

The update also incorporates various other minor improvements, optimising the user interface for use on the Steam Deck’s smaller screen and fixing some bugs.

It’s a good update for those looking to revisit Ghost of Tsushima on the Steam Deck – especially if you’ve just got finished with sequel Ghost of Yotei.

And seeing as Sony’s own rumoured handheld portable is still several years away, the Steam Deck may be your best means of playing this release on-the-go right now.
