A PS5 Housemarque collection with native versions of Alienation, Super Stardust, Resogun, Dead Nation, Matterfall, Nex Machina and Outland would be amazing.
@LifeGirl This is a poor comparison though, as nobody is going to have the time to play 500 games in a year, and none of the games on the service cost full retail price: they're either priced lower than full retail at launch or are added to the service some time after launch when the value is significantly reduced.
On top of that, they all have an undisclosed, limited time on the service and can be pulled at any time, which can essentially make them more of a trial. The only way to guarantee you'll have at least a few months to play is to start a game on the month it's been added. This invisible shrinking window might be OK for smaller games (which, again, have a lower value anyway), but the larger 'meatier' titles which require longer playtimes can often result in the consumer needing to purchase the title anyway, in order to finish it. I guarantee that this is factored into licensing by publishers as helping provide additional sales when these deals are made.
So the truth is you're not getting 500 games for the price of three, but instead limited and temporary access to a selection of games, many of which you may have to end up buying anyway if you want to see them through. Having been a Premium member previously, I did the maths and found I would have saved a fairly substantial portion of money had I bought the games that I'd played (during a year long subscription) outright, not to mention that I would have also been able to keep or re-sell them.
To me the obvious answer with the voice acting is handling it like Spyro Reignited did the music. Record new dialogue, but have a toggle in the settings to switch to the old audio files. Everyone's happy.
Premium games are, once more, really weak - it's basically just one PS1 game. Have Sony given up on this initiative again?
I know they're limited in resource at Implicit Conversions, but if that's the issue then Sony need to expand or start porting in-house. There are still so many obvious 1st/2nd party titles to draw from like Motorstorm: Artctic Edge, Socom Fireteam Bravo 1-3, Untold Legends, The Getaway, Gangs of London, Modnation+LBP PSP, JetX, Downhill Domination etc etc. These are titles that Sony fully own so don't even need to go to other publishers for.
That's not even to mention the big franchises like Ratchet and God of War (which I personally hope get a bit more effort than just straight emulation when they finally come to PS5).
I wish I was surprised by how this has seemingly petered out, but this has unfortunately become a known trend for Sony's Playstation initiatives.
As someone who tried and struggled to stick with Destiny, I'm actually quite hyped for something new from Bungie. Hopefully a more focused, tight, accessible game that people can jump into without so much world-building, grinding etc.
It was given away for free on Epic Games' Store for a while which I imagine could equate to a few million, but that's nonetheless a huge milestone for what seemed at first to be very much in the shadow of Metal Gear Solid. Clearly a game that found a lot of its audience after launch day, myself included.
I am the target audience here. I love the concept of each game getting it's own T-shirt...
...but these are kind of...meh. The design is so uninspired and similar from one to the next. I can't bring myself to pay £25 for one, as much as I'd love an Ascension T shirt - this ain't it.
@Jey887 My advice is to start getting real strict about adding new games to the backlog. I decided about a year ago to stop buying games that I knew would just build it up and focus on playing (and finishing) the games that I already had and truly wanted to play.
It's made gaming a lot more enjoyable - I'm able to focus more on one game at a time and am realising that I was accumulating too much. I loved the thrill of a deal but was then paralysed by choice afterwards.
@Oram77 They actually emailed me yesterday and said this:
"As a reminder, all Croc games were sold as a pre-ordered, limited edition, made-to-order product, with an expected shipping window of Q2 2025 (April–June). The good news? Production is right on schedule!"
I've never played Rainbow Six Siege, but I do hope Rainbow Six Siege Twitter does good things for them as they do need it - and for all the valid (and invalid) criticisms levied against them I wouldn't want to see what is essentially the largest French VG employer go under.
Despite increasingly popular opinion, it is a company full of talented and experienced developers who do produce good games, even if that's more often a 'comfort food' good than it is an 'industry defining' good.
Siege is popular, but it feels like it's always been at the tipping point of breaking into the wider zeitgeist. To me the logical next step is going Free to play, which will probably anger some of its current base but will likely open them up to a much wider audience which might be necessary to ensure its longevity.
Whatever they have planned, I'm curious to see their announcements come March.
A slight improvement, but I'll be getting the PS4 version, for this and the fact that I'll be able to use a dualshock 4 on the PS5, which is my preferred controller - especially for older games.
I guess I'm in the minority, and I hate to be a downer, but this looked like the most disappointingly generic dystopian near-future -shoot-robots-cyber-mind-hack garbage to me, all the way from the boring character-less environments to the endless clichés and repetitive droney action-sci-fi music.
@Zeldorf Agreed. Their PSP run alone was the best of any dev on the platform. I always felt like the Order was a game that just needed a little more dev time, a little more content. AAA games today struggle to have such a rich character, atmosphere and visual identity.
@somnambulance Aye, but in direct sequels that immediately follow the first game, on the same architecture and/or engine, there's often a ton of asset/animation/mechanic/design work done already that can be brought over from the first game. With a new IP, a lot more has to be done from scratch.
@LiamCroft Ah, I see. That would be quite a novel reveal actually, especially if they play it coy in THH as to whether there's any relation, only to title (or subtitle) the sequel 'Savage Starlight". A sort of 'PT moment' +1.
I can already see the "always was" meme with the one astronaut about to execute the other.
After the announcement, I sort of felt Intergalactic might be Savage Starlight in all but name. It's clearly a concept that's been playing on Druckman's mind for a while, so it may very well be the same seed, which we saw planted in TLOU, that grew to become Intergalactic - even if they don't share a name.
I really enjoy this running trend of future ND properties being teased in older games, just as TLOU was in Uncharted 3.
By the way Liam, what did you mean by "Could there be a turn and Savage Starlight is the sequel?" i didn't quite follow that.
I know it's been a quiet month, but No.1 is No.1. I really didn't expect it to do that well. Just goes to show how important a strategic release date is. Congrats to Rebellion!
Genuinely so happy about this announcement. When Syndicate got a patch I had hoped it was the start of a new wave (Origins, Odyssey and Far Cry 5 had been obvious picks).
I know this isn't many people's favourite Far Cry, but I've been holding off starting it in the hopes of a patch and am looking forward to finally checking it out. The setting and vibe really appeals to me.
No I just wonder if there's hope they might continue the trend, so that we might see a 60fps patch for Unity, Primal, FC3, Rogue etc.
I love Egyptian mythology and am excited for this, but I was really hoping they'd consider Celtic folklore for the next world. I knew the chances were slim, though.
Either way, I hope they take their time to get it right. I'm fine with it being in the hands of a smaller team within Santa Monica for now and letting the main production focus be on new IP.
Part of what made 2018 so exciting was that it felt like a re-invention after a long pause. In reality it was only five years, but I think time moves quicker now we're in the twenties, so I'm happy to wait for PS6 for this (providing we get that rumoured 'new IP' in the interim).
Been checking over the past few weeks for updates on this seeing as they missed their 2024 deadline without much of an update, so very pleased to see this today.
It really is exactly my kind of game (PS2 era God of War-like with a Pirate setting, based on an Errol-Flynn-adapted novel - there aren't many of them).
Now I'm just hoping there's a UK retailer offering physical pre-orders.
This has probably been the No.1 game that I've wanted Sony to release (from their first/second party catalogue), so I'm really thrilled it's finally arrived - and with a platinum.
I never played the original on PS1, only the demo that came with a magazine - many, many times. When the PS4 remake was released, it was like a dream come true. I had so much fun and was really glad they kept the gameplay true to the original (even if the wonky platforming really tested my patience in the swamp level - that, I wouldn't have minded them fixing).
While I'd love a remake for this game as well, realistically, I think this is the best we can expect - and I'll take it gladly.
Now, Sony, it's time to give us some more of your lesser known gems, like Disruptor, Downhill Domination and Crash Bash.
Genuinely stunned. I would have never guessed that's what Bluepoint was working on.
Is this Sony maybe turning heel on their live service initiative somewhat? While I think it's worth pursuing as a business avenue, i really hope these studios can now focus on projects closer to their roots - I'd much rather live service titles be developed by studios which already specialise in them.
This generation is starting to feel like a lot of fumbled bags from Sony. It's a shame but it seems like some big gambles and poor decision making (which, without attributing too much blame, feels like it stemmed largely from the Jim Ryan era) might mean a very quiet generation for some of their most exciting developers.
@JustinTimberlake Errr...that's the point of the quiz - to test how much you know. If you're looking up the answers for each question then what's the point?
I answered them all around a minute because I absolutely adore Uncharted and know a lot about it, but it's a unique case for me. Any other quiz on this site has had some tongue-chewing time in for sure.
@Balaam_ Uncharted 2 and 3 required only the bare minimum of time spent for their multiplayer trophies in order to obtain the platinum, made all the better by the fact that they had some of the best multiplayer on PS3. If you're talking about the DLC trophies - sure, they took some dedication.
The Last of Us was the only game they've made where the platinum required some real level of commitment to the multiplayer portion, made worse by the fact that you could potentially 'fail' and have to restart after hours of gameplay.
The most positive thing I've heard coming from Kanye in a long time. If he needs a couple of years chilling and playing games to come back down to Earth, I hope he takes it.
As far as I'm concerned this makes the Portal it way more valuable. Now, as long as you're a Premium member, you can actually take your Portal away with you and play a ton of games without having to worry about your connection to your PS5. Only decent wifi should be needed.
I used to love this feature when PS Now was on the Vita. It worked really well for me too.

I'll be playing Resident Evil 2 remake (first time, half way through) and I might dip into Ghost ot Tsushima's Iki Island expansion (I platinumed the game in 2021 and have an opportunity to do the dlc before my PS+ Extra expires in November).
