You’d think Activision would be all-in on promoting Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – especially after its relatively tame beta – but it’s actually putting a bunch of energy behind last year’s Black Ops 6 right now.
Alongside a massive content drop as part of the property’s annual Halloween-themed The Haunting update, the publisher has announced a week-long free trial which will enable you to experience it all for free.
What’s unique about this, however, is that it’ll also include access to the single player campaign, so you’ll be able to play through the story at no cost if that’s what you want to to do.

The trial will get underway from 9AM PT on 9th October and will run through 10AM PT on 16th October.
How Long to Beat pegs Black Ops 6’s campaign at around eight hours, so you’ll have more than enough time to finish it before your access is revoked.
Of course, the free trial will also include access to all of the multiplayer content, including Zombies and all of the limited time modes being added as part of The Haunting. We suppose the publisher is hoping you get the bug and decide to purchase the full game.
But this does strike us as an odd strategy.
Black Ops 7 will undoubtedly be one of the best-selling games of the year – it always is.
But interest does seem particularly muted this year, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see a substantial decline compared to the previous game. The last thing Activision needs is people picking up Black Ops 6 on the back of its free trial.
Still, we thought some of you may be interested in this free way to play the previous game’s campaign, so be sure to check that out if you’re interested.
