Never thought I’d regret buying a next gen console day 1 instead of day 1,000
This is my last time visiting Push for a while, guess my “fanboy” comments and sense of humor are better served elsewhere, gonna miss you lads! not really
@wiiware you implied TLOU2 isn’t a good game because it didn’t sell as much as Nintendo’s best and that games going on sale a year after release is somehow a negative thing
Nintendo has conditioned gamers like you to enjoy buying $60 Wii U ports year after year, that’s not exactly something to brag about unless you work for them. I’m a consumer, not a company shill.
@blinx01 yes, I can imagine the numbers show the Nintendo fanbase is geared towards collecting while the PlayStation fanbase is geared toward player engagement. When I’m discussing video games I know which version I’d consider successful, engagement. I’m a Switch owner with huge physical library and half of my games are still unopened!
Not to mention the Switch console itself is 33% cheaper than the competition when comparing direct sales numbers, the Switch Pro could change this discrepancy by being priced at $399/499 like the PlayStation - then console sale comparisons will be more interesting
I would love to see heavy set main characters given spotlight in games, doing acrobatic and physically impossible things just like their “traditionally fit” counterparts. It’s kind of strange that the 2 males interacting with Aloy in the Forbidden West trailer are built like Gears characters while she herself has the body of a model
@hypnotoad well yeah... I mean playing games to begin with is an extreme exercise in suspending disbelief compared to films where it’s, ya know, 99% real people often doing totally believable things. Unless all you watch is Marvel movies!
I know this is the ultimate nitpick but I am tired of seeing huge quivers and accessories dangling from the beautiful character models!!
In games like Days Gone, Deacon carrying every weapon on his back adds slightly to the immersion although borders on ridiculous. In the case of Horizon the dangly bits of equipment are an eye sore and distracting when I glance at the character while traveling or during combat, especially evident during in-game cutscenes. Not to mention the added possibility of visual clipping that it introduces.
Ghost of Tsushima has a similar problem to me where I would often unselect the bow & arrows, even if I needed them, just so I could enjoy the wonderful outfit without the huge bow literally sticking out the most.
This is... not what I had envisioned sadly. The Saint’s Row vibes are strong and I was hoping for a more mature tone. Back to my heavily modded Far Cry 2!
People complaining “looks like more Horizon nothing special” are exactly why companies like Rockstar and Bethesda take literally a decade to release sequels for the most anticipated titles, so that the leap will be instantly recognizable!
4 years later and Forbidden West looks like a true successor worthy of praise IMO
@zupertramp it doesn’t get much better, Dying Light is great fun in quick sessions but the more you engage with the systems the more you realize how empty the experience is. I’m afraid the sequel is looking like more of the same, fingers crossed they learned to keep us hooked!
@Orpheus79V Troy has repeatedly gone on recording saying he doesn’t want to play Joel in live action, his wish for the character is to see a new interpretation, and I think he’s being genuine and not just excusing the casting. As for Ellie’s actress I would assume she feels the same way.
December screams placeholder date to me therefore I’m cautiously optimistic there’s no further delays
Combat still looks weightless and lacking impact. World design, exploring, and attention to detail was always solid but the combat system needed an overhaul and looks to be more of the same
That would be a total of 3 PlayStation 1st party games on pc
Meanwhile the internet will lead you to believe most ps games are on pc as we speak
I have dozens more Nintendo games on my pc right now than PlayStation, hasn’t stopped me from owning a Switch and PS5. However, I will never buy an Xbox because literally every game will be available day & date on my gaming pc.
Okay I’m interested but can we save some announcements and gameplay for E3!? It’s like everybody is trying to get the spotlight before the show...which could mean 2 things
1. The e3 show is stacked and companies want to advertise before the bigger announcements
2. The e3 show is not stacked because companies wanted to advertise on their own time & dime
@ElMarko there was clearly no discussion to begin with, and you apparently can’t read because I only said it wasn’t meant for last gen as there is no current gen version to date - which only proves my point. Way to represent your avatar!
@Luigia well considering the game hasn’t made its money on PlayStation stores yet, as it’s been missing longer than it was available, I can’t see Sony wanting to pass up on the potential sales that bringing it back would provide. CDPR might not care because as you’ve said THEY'RE SWIMMING IN CASH... but Sony hasn’t bled that well dry yet.
Traditional game conferences are slowly but surely fading into obscurity in today’s post pandemic environment. They cost too much money, are too much of a headache to organize, and fans are starting to see behind the smokescreen of fabricated hype and sizzle reels!
More smaller, personal showcases from our favorite publishers and developers are becoming more popular and in high demand. Fans are asking for communication and a more personal, direct approach that these large showcases just simply can’t provide.
Sony & Nintendo have learned to adapt quickly to establish their own footing in this new era of advertising and marketing to their fanbase. Media outlets are also adapting to this trickling of news spread over the year instead of large info-dumps of the past.
@somnambulance absolutely right the bar was set higher than high for this one and last gen consoles were never going to keep up with CDPR vision. I’m fairly certain that’s their biggest regret as a studio, trying to release Cyberpunk to the masses who own last gen consoles and please everyone, because effectively they pleased nobody. Stadia sounds like an interesting way to experience this game though as you aren’t the first who told me it ran well
@ElMarko if you can’t understand the nuance in what I said there’s no intellectual or interesting conversation to have with you regarding this
@ackbar7 way to completely miss the point of what you read. As if I’m arguing that consoles versions don’t exist... geez I can’t even begin to have thought provoking discussions with such a literal point of view
@somnambulance I haven’t played it yet myself, but everyone knows it’s not meant to be a console game, especially last gen consoles. This is a PC experience, so unless you played it on a decent enough rig I don’t see how you could adequately judge the experience aside from criticisms with story and objectives.
That room is too well lit for Holland to be holding a flashlight up... like are you blind kid? I can see the intricate details of every item in that room from this still image so why can’t you!?! Haha
@awp69 why are you campaigning so hard for a mediocre product that you had no involvement in making? It’s not like THQ needs your cheerleading. Learn to let go! Clearly this game meant something to you and that’s fine, play and enjoy it. The rest of us who don’t will steer clear until we feel the price of admission (nearly free IMO) is met - this is gamepass fodder at best
Fact is video game reviews have been inflated these days, review codes are given out like Halloween candy, large & small publications get preferential treatment, streamers get early access to help their subscriber count - all these factors and more contribute to a higher than normal review score for countless modern games. So when a title like Biomutant does this poorly it’s extra representative of the lesser quality.
@HotGoomba no, the evidence was opening our eyes and using common sense from years of playing and viewing games. Anybody who was paying attention could predict the pros & cons of this particular game, if the pros outweigh the cons in your opinion then power to ya.
Doesn’t change the fact that paying attention to details can be your best bet
@awp69 this is my first time hearing of open critic. And I’m by no means new to this stuff. Seems you’ve found an aggregate of scores that are more positive than anywhere else on the internet, bravo!
@nessisonett no apology needed. As a matter of fact I just apologize to you guys for saying it would get a 60 Metacritic weeks ago. Seems I was being generous. 40’s & 50’s are more accurate
Housemarque went from an unknown studio in my eyes to one of the most exciting emerging prospects in the gaming industry moving forward, if they keep the same momentum, their next big budget title could be legendary!! I’ve never really cared to “support a studio” before learning more about these guys. Will buy this game again to see a sequel!
