I hated the first game in 2018, but after spending nearly 200 hours with it's sequel, I think I "get it" now and hopefully will enjoy the first one now. I'm going to wait for the native PS5 version though.

Despite the 8 people still clinging to physical media who will shake their fists at this, it is the correct move to combat leaks.

The fact that this is the "headliner" doesn't make me very confident.

My 3 favorite games this gen are Baldur's Gate 3, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and Elden Ring. Expedition 33 is an excellent game, but it's undoubtedly a notch below the 3 I mentioned, imo.

It's worth mentioning I played Elden Ring using Save Wizard, which essentially removed the difficulty and let me play it in Story mode, otherwise I would have skipped it.

It's crazy that neither of these titles are even playable on modern consoles, outside of streaming, which certainly is not an ideal way to play. Bethesda are so out of touch, it's not even funny. They spent a decade indulging themselves, making games that hardly anyone asked for or wanted, and now they can't even capitalize on what would basically be free money generated by the TV show. That's not even touching on how it has been nearly TWO decades between main entries in TES, the series that only made them and is the reason they exist at all. Even a straight-up port of either of the Fallout games would have been enthusiastically received and undoubtedly moved units. I've never seen an American corporation that leaves as much (potential) money on the table as Bethesda does.

I don't even care anymore honestly. Hopefully it's a good game, for everybody's sake, but Bethesda has released too many stinkers for me to have any sort of expectations.

@Balaam_ dude you care WAY too much about trophies, every single comment you post is some unhinged take on how you feel slighted by the trophy design of (insert game here). Have you ever considered just playing a game because it's fun and you enjoy it?

There's one "game" I've unfortunately come across called I Love Your Dead Grandma or something like that, hopefully all of that guy's games got removed as well.

Obviously I have no concrete way to prove it, but I feel like a substantial number of PS5 Pro consoles were sold simply because of how great the PS4 Pro was.

I'm just not into this style of RPG. I put 50 or so hours into Persona 5 in 2017 and have never had a single urge to go back and/or finish it. I tried Metaphor last year and got maybe 2 hours in before returning it. I'm happy millions of people love these games, but for some reason the art style is not for me.

This might not be a popular sentiment, but I hope this is the final generation to have "Pro" consoles released midway through.

I would literally drop whatever I'm currently playing for remasters/remakes of Fallout 3 and New Vegas immediately.

I still think KCD2 was the stronger game and at the very least deserved RPG of the year, if not outright GOTY.

Hopefully this is voiced in English as well as Chinese. I'm very curious about Together Forever (and it's $10 right now) but I fear I won't be able to keep up with it having to depend purely on subtitles, and I've heard the translation isn't exactly stellar.

This was my GOTY outside of KCD2 and Tainted Grail. It was an absolute blast for every single one of the 100 hours I put into it. The cross-save feature is a game changer as well.

Eternal Strands was the best action game I played this year, by a wide margin.

I'm assuming most of the people in this thread are too young to remember Y2K and the dawn of the internet.

People said the exact same things about the internet back then that they are saying today about AI. Literally, the exact same phrases in some cases. The internet didn't go anywhere, it was here to stay, and so is AI. You can either accept it and get on board, or get left behind. Your choice.

#8 is insane. KCD2 is easily my GOTY.

My two favorite indie games this year are Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon and Eternal Strands. The 2nd one in particular gets no press whatsoever and is truly a hidden gem.

Can we get Avowed instead?

After this year I won't even have a passing interest in it going forward. I have no idea how anybody can take them seriously at this point.

A bit disappointed, since I was hoping for a return to the action RPG style of Ego Draconis. But I'm sure it will still be one of the best games of whatever generation it releases in.

With all due respect because BGS have made some absolutely killer games. But they haven't released a banger since 2011, and they haven't released anything worthwhile (IMO) since 2015. So while I would love for TES VI to be the best thing ever, my expectations have never been lower, and I say that with sadness.

@4fold you have extremely strong opinions about something that I consider to be completely subjective. Not all trophy lists are required to conform to your rigid definition of what they need to be. Respectfully.

It's absolutely criminal that KCD2 walked away with nothing. Complete ***** joke. Makes me question the legitimacy of the awards themselves to be frank.

MindsEye Part 2

I hope this is more of an action RPG in the vein of Divinity II: Ego Draconis, for those of you old enough to even know what the hell I'm talking about. But yeah, a Larian 3rd person action RPG would be at the top of my ultimate wish list.

@Chip-Douglas because there's not going to be a proper, single-player Fallout game for another 10-15 years is why they're not asking her about playing Fallout.

@Rich33 you've just been lucky with your controllers mate. I've burned through 6 DualSense controllers this gen, 4 of which got stick drift within 18 months of purchase. Of the 2 that remain, one I bought with my PS5 at launch, go figure. But yeah, these controllers are definitely NOT "far superior" I can promise you.

With all due respect, there's nothing Sony could do to influence me to even consider purchasing a PS5 Pro, outside of a several hundred dollar price-cut. Especially when considering I would have to go out and spend extra on a disc drive and a stand, just to replicate the setup I already have.

This is the only Xbox game that hasn't come to PS5 yet that I'm interested in. It feels like virtually everything else is making the jump, so hopefully there's a PS5 release in Feb '26.

@MrPeanutbutterz it's wild to me that you consider mp trophies not being included in predominantly single player games a "take." To each their own though I guess.

My two heavy-hitters this year were KCD2 and Expedition 33, however my favorite games this year that most people haven't heard of are Eternal Strands and Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon. Both of those were absolutely brilliant games that are well worth anyone's time.

Would have preferred 3 games I have at least heard of or have some sort of passing interest in. 5 games that I couldn't remotely care about feels the same as zero games that I couldn't remotely care about.

Just imagine if they had spent this gen making the games people have been asking for instead of chasing the live service desperation bag nonsense.

Bethesda is a shadow of what they used to be. Most of the talent that made games like Oblivion and Fallout 3 are LONG gone. Modern day Bethesda is best known for making mediocre games that very few people actually wanted, while leaving gazillions on the table by waiting 2 decades essentially for TES VI and not having a single player Fallout title to coincide with the TV show.

Xbox as a platform is dead. I wouldn't be surprised if some at MS want to kill the name completely and rebrand their upcoming PC-type thing as Microsoft Gaming or something like that.

I wouldn't mind if they ported Avowed over. They can keep Starfield.

When I played it at release, I enjoyed it but not as much as Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I actually enjoyed Far Harbor more than any part of the main story, and I will say I find the DLC's to be stronger than 3/NV. But Fallout 4 hasn't aged particularly well, and the way they keep milking it similar to Skyrim isn't helping the situation.

Beth & MS can get (rhymes with "ducked") because that is highway robbery. I already have the game and the DLC, so I'm expected to pay $20 for Creations? My opening statement stands.

I would be happy with a sequel or a remake. Remaster at this point would feel pretty lazy. If there ever is a sequel, let Bethesda handle the trophies, as Obsidian's trophy lists have a level of antagonism, imo, that doesn't always make them fun to complete.

I got my PS5 one year after launch, and I still felt like an early adopter. Granted, 2027 is nearly two years away, but it doesn't even feel like the PS4 gen has fully ended, and we're already talking PS6, it seems kind of ridiculous to me. I'll eventually get one, naturally, but if it releases in '27 I'll probably aim to pick one up in 2029.

Build a Rocket Boy might want to take their own advice and start building rockets, because building video games doesn't seem to be working out very well for them.

I've bought 10 titles at launch (full price) between 2022-2025, and 2 of those (Clair Obscur & Oblivion) were at a lower price point than usual. By comparison, I've bought just under 60 titles during the same period at a discount of some kind, the vast majority of which were no more than $20. If there are multiple new releases I'm interested in, I'll subscribe to GameFly for a couple months instead of purchasing them.

It wasn't listed here, but I picked up Eternal Strands and so far I'm very impressed.

Imagine having NOTHING AT ALL going on in your life, so much so that you have the time and energy to waste on something like that.

I'd like to see a subscription service where for example you can only play a certain number of games per month, but you get to pick the games, and nothing is off limits. I'd pay $30-40 per month for a service like that. Like digital GameFly basically.
