Well, as far as we can tell, it's official: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 now has more Game of the Year awards than any other game ever.
The absolute darling of 2025 has claimed a ridiculous 436 Game of the Year awards to date, placing it ahead of Elden Ring. Crazy.
This is all based on a shockingly impressive amount of research from ResetEra user Angie, who's somehow managed to keep track of said awards.
Of course, there is some context to consider. Generally speaking, there are more outlets and events wading into the Game of the Year conversation than ever before — and so modern games are capable of scooping many more awards than their predecessors.
