Spider-Man 2 is a great game, no question. But it's not at all groundbreaking, just a continuation of what's already been done for the most part. Baldur's Gate 3 is the kind of game that comes along once a generation, if we're lucky. I don't care about your voting process, whatever. You still should have changed it. It's an absolute joke.
Headliner is GTA V, a 10 year old game that most people already own on multiple platforms. Back in September I downgraded to Essential and have not regretted it once. That fact that I'm already 25% through my sub and don't miss Extra or Premium AT ALL says a lot.
I'm no fan of the live service thing, but I really don't get the bellyaching from people about how giving gifts "isn't the same", you're right it's not, it's more efficient. Instead of you buying a game for someone they may or may not like, you get them a card for the console they own (or Steam, or whatever, you get the point) and then they can get EXACTLY what they really want. I'm confused on how that's a bad thing.
@Rob_230 But you do understand that it IS the same thing, right? The whole point being you want to provide her a way to play the game, and you're doing that. So what is the problem?
@bpomber the industry does need healthy competition, and I think the point some of us are trying to make is that we don't consider Xbox to be that. Or maybe it's just me, but it's the point I'm trying to make at least. Nintendo is the closest thing right now.
Personally I found Hogwarts Legacy to be a disappointment. It's a quality game, but it just never grabbed me. The tasks seemed more tedious than fun for the most part. I stopped after about 30 hours in March and haven't come back to it since. Later on, I platinumed Forspoken and found it to be the far superior game.
The only thing I want to hear from Larian right now is that they're fixing their currently broken game (Act 3 anyone?) which was fine before the latest hotfix. So yeah, I don't care about a physical edition that 6 people have been waiting for. Fix your game.
@luke88 that's such a disingenuous thing to say, it's laughable. You're on PushSquare dude. You know why people buy PS5s. I mean I get trying to sound sarcastic or condescending online, but you saying you have "no idea" is such b.s. I can smell it from here.
My only complaint would be stick drift, otherwise I love the PS5. Of the 4 DualSense controllers I've owned, two have crapped out within a year, and a third is still just a few months old so the jury's still out. Admittedly I play a lot, but still that's way too high of a failure rate, even considering the small sample size. I played just as much PS4 and never had a DS4 get drift on me.
My entire library is digital, between my PS5, Switch and Series S I don't have a single physical game. The idea of having to swap out a disc every time I change games makes me feel like I'm still in the 1990's.
I think it's pretty clear that this move is to streamline production of the console, nothing more. This way they only have to produce one console instead of two, with an optional optical drive as an accessory.
@Grimwood I find it strange how proud you seem to be about that lol. Next time I'm completing a game I enjoy, I'll remember "wait, Grimwood said I'm wasting my time! I could be watching the paint dry instead!"
Man Saints Row is a banger compared to this month. Not hating on Farming Simulator at all, just not my cup of tea. The other two I wouldn't be interested in playing even if I was paid for it.
@Deityjester
Again, reading comprehension is important, guys. I never said anything about wanting only one console manufacturer. Re-read my original comment if it will help you.
@Fiendish-Beaver Two things: 1. I never said anything about wanting one console maker. 2. You responded with a dissertation to an obviously tongue in cheek post. I hope you didn't waste too much time on it.
I got the plat in Odyssey and afterwards was excited for Valhalla. I got the plat in Valhalla and afterwards I never wanted to play an AC game again. True story!
Gaming would be so much better off without Microsoft involved. Any way we can get rid of them and bring back Sega instead? I'm sure they could make a wicked reimagining of the Dreamcast or something.
It was so bad that the PS4 version was de-listed from the PSN store for months. That is not something that happens frequently, and/or unless a game is in a damn near unplayable state. Has CDPR fixed the game? Absolutely. Is it in a significantly better state than it was at release? Absolutely. Is this guy re-writing history? Absolutely.
Netscape rolling over in their grave over this stuff. Microsoft still up to the same antics that landed them an antitrust lawsuit 20+ years ago. Shocking!
Xbox is like that annoying kid at school who had to pay people to be their friend. It's one thing when franchises have always been in-house (God of War, Uncharted etc) but it's completely lame to throw daddy Microsoft's money around and buy up multiplatform publishers to then make existing franchises exclusive.
@SlipperyFish I agree with you 100% I had actually been considering buying a Series S for Starfield, but after the latest reveal I said forget it, it doesn't look like my cup of tea. So maybe next year I'll think about it for Avowed, because that looks great so far.
There's no way ES6 skips PlayStation. Sony consoles outsell Microsoft by more than a 2:1 ratio, there's absolutely no way they're going to leave a pile of money that large on the table. Starfield is one thing, it's a new IP and Xbox desperately needs a system seller. But keeping ES6 off PS would be financial suicide.
@burning_as_souls I was fortunate to not be affected by the RROD, though it's worth mentioning I didn't get a 360 until 2009 which was after at least one revision. But I did prefer it to my PS3. What swayed me was that disaster of a presentation in 2013, as well as only selling the Xbone with Kinect initially. It was as simple as "I couldn't care less about Kinect, so let's save $100 and go with a PS4." And I haven't owned an Xbox since the 360.
It's hard to feel sorry for MS. They keep saying it's not as simple as having quality games, but it really is. PlayStation has always been my main console, but I also have a Switch because I don't want to miss Nintendo's 1st party offerings. If Xbox had an equivalent of God of War or Zelda, you can bet I'd have a Series S (or maybe even X) on my shelf as well. But I don't, because there's no reason to. Yeah backwards compatibility blah blah blah, but if you're hoping people buy your console simply to play games from 2 or 3 generations ago, you're doing it wrong.
It's one thing to have games or franchises that have always been exclusive (Uncharted, God of War, Halo) and another thing when when somebody wants to pull out their johnson financially and make titles that have previously been multiplatform (Elder Scrolls, Fallout, CoD) and make them exclusive. I'm not sure why people are having such a hard time making that distinction.
I would be more interested in being able to download and play PS3 games INSTEAD of having to stream them. I don't get the whole streaming thing honestly, like who is excited to stream games to their console?
I agree that a lot of the games they showed look good, but they need to deliver the goods when they're actually released. I'll probably pick up a Series X/S someday to back up my PS5 as a GamePass machine, but it's going to take more than one game for me to get there, even if Starfield is a 10/10.
You would think that they'd at least want to give you 2-3 hours to get hooked and go buy the game! 45 minutes just seems really cheap, like why even bother doing a trial at that point?
I feel like this game gets way more hate than it deserves, personally I really liked it. I enjoyed it more than Hogwarts Legacy even. To each their own, but I have a suspicion that most of the people piling on the game haven't actually played it.
I'm going with instinctual answers, I didn't want to overthink it:
Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion - Xbox 360 Fallout New Vegas - PC Grand Theft Auto V - PS4 Zelda Breath of the Wild - Switch Witcher 3 - PS4 Elden Ring - PS5
