Fallout New Vegas Sequel Obsidian

There are some developers that just can't escape their past glories, and Fallout: New Vegas creator Obsidian is definitely one of them.

The studio has been hard at work forging its own path under the Xbox umbrella for years now, crafting original properties like The Outer Worlds, Grounded, and Avowed. But no matter what it does, people always bring up the beloved New Vegas.

And Obsidian's well aware of this. In an interview with The Game Business, VP of operations Marcus Morgan comments: "Everyone on the internet, on every game we announce, asks: 'When's the next Fallout: New Vegas?'"

However, despite ongoing demand — and by ongoing, we mean people have been asking after a New Vegas sequel for well over a decade — the developer is simply happy doing its own thing.

"This year, all three of [the games we've released] are IP that we've created," says Morgan. "We've got to the part where we have sequels to all of them."

So, perhaps to the disappointment of many, it sounds like Obsidian has no real desire to go back to the Mojave Wasteland.

The thing is, it's long felt like Bethesda's leaving an absurd amount of money on the table by not following up on New Vegas — with or without Obsidian's help. Even a re-release would be a huge deal at this point.

It's possible that, one day, we'll get some kind of remake in the style of Oblivion Remastered. After all, past reports have strongly hinted at a Fallout 3 revival.

How do you feel about Fallout: New Vegas after all these years? Would you still want modern Obsidian to tackle a sequel? How about a remaster or remake? Pray for a nuclear winter in the comments section below.
