Stardew Valley is one of the greatest games of it's era. Also one of the most difficult platinum trophies I've ever earned, thanks to that damn twin-stick mini game. Viewfinder and Psychonauts are both rare in the sense that they are Essential titles that I haven't played already AND find interesting enough to check out.
I was convinced I would love the first game, because New Vegas is one of my all-time favs, but I bounced off it pretty hard despite multiple attempts to play through it. They either need to come up with a better alternative to VATS or make melee actually viable for me to pick this one up. I also found that I couldn't have cared less about any of the companions in the first game, so hopefully that's improved as well. Maybe it's the setting too, I don't know...
The reason I don't have an Xbox is because their big franchises like Gears and Halo don't interest me at all. I'm just not into shooters really, not my cup of tea.
Can only speak for American culture, but it's always stunned me how desensitized people are to scenes of graphic, physical violence, but a little bit of sex and omg the world is ending.
Never a good sign. I'm thinking this game is a hot mess, and they know it, and they're already trying to do damage control. I already wasn't really interested until I saw reviews/gameplay but now I'll definitely pass.
For a company that so many gamers claim to hate and not support, they sure do sell a hell of a lot of games. You'll show them...by continuing to buy their products...yeah, that'll teach them...
It's just nice to finally have a JRPG-inspired turn-based game that doesn't have an anime-ish art style to be honest. I've been waiting for a game like Expedition 33 since I first played Lost Odyssey in 2009.
Even if Starfield was better than just an average game, there would still be people who hated it simply because Bethesda took the time to make it, when they could (should?) have been making TESVI or FO5.
@Contimaloris I feel the exact opposite. I found Ghost to be absolutely boring and I couldn't care less about the story, and both times I attempted to play it, I gave up before hitting the 6 hour mark.
I found Shadows to be a much stronger and more enjoyable game than Valhalla was. Valhalla was a bloat fest that by the end felt like a repetitive grind. I really enjoyed all my time with Shadows by comparison.
If I cared that much, I could probably find something already on YouTube that puts the cutscenes and such in chronological order, doing a whole new playthrough just for this kind of seems unnecessary. Hopefully those who do play it again have fun with it though.
There's a lot of coping in these comments...I only speak for myself but I'm certainly not seething, and I haven't been jealous of another human being since I was a child and didn't know any better. It's more like I don't understand why anyone cares what he thinks about anything, because he makes boring games that can't hold my attention for more than 45 minutes, so it's weird to me that some people ride his jock as hard as they do. That's the most simple way I can explain it.
I'm sorry (not really) but I find Hideo Kojima to be one of the most pretentious and overrated individuals in the business. I just don't understand the appeal, of his games or the nonsense that comes out of his mouth.
@CaptainWow I could also make the argument that vehemently coming to the defense of the game and/or Kojima every time someone says "it's not for me" screams INSECURITY much louder than the example you provided.
I would swap #1 and #2. Expedition 33 is a great game, no question, but honestly after having played through it, it's a TOUCH overrated imo. If the market wasn't so starved for turn-based JRPG-inspired games that don't look like anime, I don't think it would be getting the glazing that it is. On the other hand, KCD2 was one of the five best gaming experiences I've had in the last decade (BG3, Elden Ring, Witcher 3 & Mass Effect Legendary being the others). Absolutely no way KCD2 isn't #1 in my book. And I freaking hated the first game even.
Do we really need a "simulator" for every possible mundane task? I can't wait for Poop Simulator, where you work your way up to obtain 2-ply toilet paper to wipe your bum with. Or how about Dental Floss Simulator, where if you floss every day for a week you can upgrade to a nice, minty new floss? I mean, come on man.
It's always been a niche product, and it always will be. No joke, some weeks I game upwards of 40-50 hours, and I play pretty much everything except multiplayer-only titles, exclusively on PlayStation consoles to boot. And not once, not ever, have I been tempted to purchase either of the PSVR headsets.
I was just talking about this with a friend about how I've been eating really well this year. Started off with Astro Bot, then reached into the backlog with Disco Elysium, and then in order played through KCD2, Oblivion Remastered, AC Shadows and now I'm about halfway through Expedition 33. One of the best 6 month stretches I can remember in my gaming career.
Edit - I'm fully aware Astro Bot came out late last year, but I didn't play it until Jan/Feb of this year.
The only way I might play BL4 is when it inevitably appears on PS Plus (Essential) in early 2026. But even then, I'll probably have other games to play. Or I might have to alphabetize my pet food instead. Either way.
What a load of pretentious nonsense. Kojima is the most overrated "celebrity" game dev out there. I'm sure there are more than a few people excited for Walking Simulator 2: Walk on the Beach but for the life of me I can't figure out why.
Even if Xbox as a console does indeed go tits up in the next decade, somebody else will come along to fill that void. I have no idea right now who that might be though.
I upgraded to Premium for the last 3 months of my sub with the Days of Play discount, but that is the only way I'll ever go above Essential. When my sub renews later this year, it will be for Essential. I would pay $120 annually for Premium, but for $160 or whatever it is, they can gtfo.
I feel sympathy for Adler, and don't doubt he is telling the truth. No matter what happens between now and release, the one thing that people will remember most about this game is that it's $80 and that popular sentiment is that it shouldn't be. Oof.
Delaying the game indefinitely and being honest about the state of it would have been an infinitely better option than releasing that hot turd and hoping for the best. I can't believe companies are still making this mistake.
I'm glad there's a patch, but I still don't understand how I was able to put 100+ hours and platinum a "broken mess." Either Bethesda is taking their time and resources to sabotage only certain people for no reason, or, more likely, people are over exaggerating the issues in this game.
How about we get analog sticks that don't get drift so easily? I have FIVE DualSense controllers purchased since 2021, and 3 of them developed drift WITHIN A YEAR. I'd rather they focus on fixing that honestly.
@nomither6 you are absolutely right about that. Right after I read your comment, in my head I said "what, is it like Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite & Rocket League or something" and then I took your advice and looked and well...yeah.
Why would anyone BUY a game on Xbox at this point? Unless you're already roped into their ecosystem I guess. Xbox as a console is basically Betamax or HD-DVD.
Also FFXVI is the best FF I've played in a LONG time, probably since VII-X era.
Considering that I thought the first game wasn't worth half that much, suffice to say I'll be waiting for a DEEP sale, and that's if I even give this game any attention at all.
So...we're like 5 minutes removed from every new game having a PS4 version, but at the same time the PS5 has been tapped out and can't run The Witcher 4 looking good...of course I'm over simplifying this, but it's meant to illustrate how ridiculous this gen has been.
There is a world of difference between waiting 10 years for a release and waiting for what now appears to be an annual release. I'll probably pick up CFB26 during the season when it goes on sale, but it won't be an absolute day one purchase like 25 was. I mean, how different can it really be?

Re: Rumour: PS6 Will Have a Detachable Disc Drive, Much Simpler Design
It's pretty mind-bending that I'm seeing articles about a potential PS6, meanwhile new games are still releasing with PS4 versions.

Re: Rumour: Starfield PS5 to Take Flight Alongside New Expansion Next Year
Once it eventually goes on sale for $15 or so I might give it another chance, but I would never consider paying full price for it.
