Larian Studios is talking a big game with its next RPG, Divinity. After hitting the mainstream with Baldur's Gate 3, at over 20 million copies sold, the developer is only aiming to make even bigger titles.
It sees Divinity as such a significant leap, in fact, that it's describing the project as Larian Studios at its "next level".
Speaking to Bloomberg, studio founder Swen Vincke revealed that the team plans to once again utilise an early access launch for Divinity, but you shouldn't expect it to be available next year. On the game specifically, Vincke then said: "This is going to be us unleashed, I think. It’s a turn-based RPG featuring everything you’ve seen from us in the past, but it’s brought to the next level."

Originally, the developer planned to continue working in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, but after a few months working on a new project, the team discovered it wasn't as excited by it as before. "Conceptually, all of the ingredients for a really cool game were there except the hearts of the developers," explained Vincke.
Larian Studios then switched to making Divinity, and Vincke thinks it's going to be "way better" than Baldur's Gate 3, which itself is rated one of the best video games ever made. It's using a new engine to make Divinity, and the studio wants to improve streaming content systems and double down on cinematic storytelling.
