And there it is, confirmation that all that mysterious statue malarkey was for Larian Studios' latest project — a new game in the Divinity series.
Simply known as 'Divinity' right now, this RPG is supposedly the biggest game that the developer has ever made. Yes, even bigger than Baldur's Gate 3, which can quite easily occupy your life for over 100 hours.
All we've got to go on is a particularly horrific reveal trailer which shows some poor bastard being burned inside a giant wicker man while a festival churns around him. But when he eventually succumbs to the fire, he unleashes some kind of terrible curse.

WOO LETS GOOO 🔥🔥. So glad they didn’t hold back in the trailer and totally went for it.
I'll be there.
(In 2030)
Its Larian its a day 1 buy. Also that trailer was beautifully horrific 😁
Divinity original sin and Divinity original sin 2 is 2 of the best video games ever made. I'm happy they have a new Divinity games on the way.word up son
100% getting this in 2028 after the year long beta lol
Tbh I'm a bit disappointed that there going back to Divinity, was hoping they'd make a new IP.
I figured they were going for something a little more subversive than the third rebrand of Divinity. Especially after saying they wanted to do something new and less restrictive than D&D.
I am sure it will be incredible, I am just burned out on elves and dwarfs and wizards, etc.
is this gonna have the point and click/turned based gameplay malarky like BG3? I know nothing about the past games. If so, not for me.
After BG3, Larian has my attention with whatever this turns into. Way too early to get excited though.
I loved Original Sin 2 even though it looked very much like a PC game (those giant dialog text boxes!) rather than a console RPG, but I am very excited for this. RPGs are my favorite.
I hope this is more of an action RPG in the vein of Divinity II: Ego Draconis, for those of you old enough to even know what the hell I'm talking about. But yeah, a Larian 3rd person action RPG would be at the top of my ultimate wish list.
@tangyzesty I remember that. It was cool
@StitchJones seems like a well-informed take
@AdamNovice They're simultaneously working on some kind of scifi focused game.
I don't know if this game will be for me or not, but that's one of the best reveal trailers I've ever seen.
My body could not be more ready 🤗
Yep I have been playing every Divinity since the original Diablolike game so I'm very interested. Each time they do a new game in the Divinity series (not counting OS 2 since that's a sequel in the OS miniseries) it's a completely different type of game, so don't be sad thinking it's another Original Sin.
Removed - unconstructive
‘Larian’s biggest game’ is all the info I need but some gameplay would have been nice.
@LikelySatan big preshow statue reveal and "guess what?" hype nonsense a week ago and then it turned out to be Divinity and nobody seems to care. lmao
Trailer was really cool
Day one purchase for me. The trailer blew me away!
Damn this trailer was grotesque lol. I'm kind of intrigued but never played Divinity before.
The most impressive cinematic game trailer I’ve ever seen. If this camera work is also present in the final game, good Lord!
I really, really wish I could get into this type of game but I think I'm just too dumb. I tried out Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition for the first time on my PS5 last week and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to position and control all of the characters. They each have spells and abilities and I got them, but I spent 20 minutes just grouping up on enemies and everyone bashing them with weapons.
Anyone have any advice? Because I'd LOVE to get into all of this.
That was an absolutely phenomenal trailer. It's put me right in the mood to replay the Divinity games.
Finally, some goddamn scalie-porn wicker man on my console. I knew Santa would deliver on my weirdly specific request.
Looking forward to seeing some gameplay though, be interesting if they go for a proper third person over the shoulder style or stick to BG3 quasi-isometric hybrid.
Jesus, they are really spending that BG3 money. This campaign must've cost 2 million dollars overall and they don't even have gameplay to show.
Bit of sweet lizard sex in there.... What is it with these guys? 😂
Day 1 for me whenever it's released by 2035.
@StitchJones Before BG3, they did Divinity, and yes, it has turn based, point and click, combat. Slightly different how it works to BG3, in terms of action economy (how many attacks etc. per turn you can take) and it's a lot more open how you build your character. Original Sin 2 is definitely worth a look at!
Day 1 if it's not turn based...
Sadly, my interest in this lies solely in whether they are real-time or turn-based. Looks incredible. I just cannot play turn-based titles.
@J2theEzzo no. that style gameplay just isn't for me. I like action RPG's only. No turned based/point and click for me. I recognize they are great games for the people who like them. And i hope this new one turns out good for you all. But I despise that form of combat.
@captainsandman im with you. I tried BG3 through g'fly and that turned based combat style just isn't for me. I despise it. Seems like a great RPG too. Its ashame.
Wicker Man (1973) is one of my fav movies. Good trailer.
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy BG:EE is pretty troublesome with a controller. Basically you need to make use of the pause/play feature constantly. It was designed for PC really but they have done a good job of getting it working on a controller but certain classes are harder to use than others. I have cleared it on console but I wouldn't say I got the most out of the combat system by any stretch, I just sort of made it work and cheesed my way through some encounters. Pillars of Eternity is easier to play on console IMO, and I personally love PoE 2 - they also both have pause/play combat.
BG3 combat is turn based so it's a lot more manageable on console - the same as Divinity OS1 and 2.
You're not stupid but at the same time these games are not that complicated either, there is a bit of a hump to get over with either system, I'd encourage you to try out OS1/2 or BGS3 and stick with it for a bit as they are super rewarding once it clicks. BG:EE on console is a rough intro to the genre in 2025...
@StitchJones That malarky that sold millions of copies, and basically is the foundation of CRPGs? Probably
Not being designated an 'Original Sin' game its likely to be real time combat, as thats how the series started. Would be interested in seeing how they modernize that.
@tselliot thats too bad. happy for people who like that malarky. just not for me. trailer was pretty great though.
