Re: Bungie's New PS5 Shooter Marathon Grabs September Release Date

@ZeroSum look, I hope that my doubts and concerns are proved wrong, both Bungie and Sony really need a win here (Bungie just in general and Sony on a Live Service platform)… but I’m sure they both need it to be considerably more successful than a niche game mode on COD that no longer gets support due to hacking.

It sounds like Bungie has bet the farm on this one and would need it to at least be as successful as the Destiny series (a decade-long cash cow).

@Sanquine aye but with Helldivers 2 it’s purely pve… this looks to have a hefty part of its format as pvp. I think that might well dilute the number of players willing to dedicate the amount of hours this’ll need to succeed. I’m not saying it will fail… I’m saying I have my doubts.

Started Resident Evil HD on Wednesday and am šŸ¤ close to the end of my first playthrough with Jill on Normal, so should finish that off today.

After some initial teething-problems with the controls and the save-system, it’s grown on me quite a bit and can fully appreciate its classic status within the gaming pantheon. Only 3 or 4 playthroughs left after that for the plat šŸ˜….

@Nightcrawler71 yeah I agree that’s a rough spot for Unity, i was fortunate enough to have waited to play it, so it was in a real good state by that time… and as a result, is one of my favourites.

Re: PlayStation Is Dying to Know What You Think of Nintendo Switch 2 in Player Survey

I’ve fancied some handheld gaming ever since getting back into gaming in a big way and ended up getting a switch back in 2019 but hardly used it. It turned out the handheld device I wanted was a method to access my PlayStation account while not in my gaming room… and while I always wanted that method to be native, now that I’ve tried the portal I’m satisfied with streaming.

As I’ve never really been a massive fan of Nintendo ip, the portal has covered any and all bases that I personally want from handheld/portability, so I won’t be getting a switch 2. The missus got the most use out of my switch anyway, so maybe she’ll want one but she hasn’t piped up yet šŸ˜….

@FuriousMachine yeah I know it’s a forlorn hope but I can but dream I guess. At least they (Capcom) did it for Resident Evil: Village albeit behind a dlc paywall.

@Oram77 I’m sure that it doesn’t… I just tend to enjoy the third person view point in games so much more. I like loads of games with the first-person view but I always have to actively push myself to actually play them.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows a Big Sales Hit in US, Beaten Only By Monster Hunter Wilds

I think people need to understand the game selling well is a completely different thing from the games sales being good enough to actually saving the titanic-like company that is Ubisoft.

It would have to outsell GTA VI to have actually saved Ubisoft (in the state that they were prior to the subsidiary deal with Tencent), which was never gonna happen. But that in no way means that the game hasn’t sold very well all things considered.

Finally bust out the portal yesterday as I’m away with the missus and it’s pretty awesome tbh. Just so happened that I’m currently chasing down the platinum on Lords of the Fallen so the stress-test is real… and the little portable portal into my ps5 has passed with flying colours.

Yeah 3.5 mil seemed awfully low considering the first week sales. FFXVI is one of the many PS5 games unfairly tarnished with an exclusivity-stench this gen. While I understand it may have disappointed some of the FF hardcore in terms of its lurch towards action-rpg, that in no way detracts from how good an action-rpg it actually is.

It looks beautiful, the OST is off the charts, plays as well (if not better) than the best character action games out there and has spectacle so great, it has never before been witnessed. My GotY for 2023 by a country mile!

Been meaning to give Generation Zero a go since it was on ps+ around a year or so back but finally found time to start it last night. It got universally panned at release due to shoddy performance, which has subsequently been patched. It’s unashamedly AA but I’m liking it so far. Gunplay is a little rigid but the exploration and looting is good… and I like its chilled-out vibe.
