Want to know something crazy? According to this author’s Trophies, he played Sacred 2 on the PS3 back in 2009. Want to know something crazier? He doesn’t remember a single thing about it.
Well, that’s not true actually – it was an action RPG with a pulled-back Diablo-ish camera angle, and we recall the lady on the box had white hair and elaborate, almost wrestler-style makeup. It was also very well received at the time.
A PS5 remaster, due out towards the tail-end of this year from THQ Nordic, makes sense, then.

“With refined combat mechanics, a modern user interface, full controller support, and all expansions included, the remaster brings new life to a fan-favorite – whether you’re revisiting Ancaria or setting foot in it for the first time,” the blurb says.
Here’s a full overview from the press release itself:
“In this remaster of the beloved action RPG Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, players return to a massive fantasy realm filled with hundreds of quests, dangerous dungeons, and unique combat arts to master. Battle monstrous creatures, uncover ancient secrets, and shape your character through loot, leveling, and deep customisation.”

That Trophies are more reliable than human memory.
We are very good at forgetting things.
The most THQ Nordic release in history, a remake of a game you vaguely remember but have no recollection of actually playing, that’s best explained by directly comparing it to a higher budget, better game.
@nessisonett Haha yes, I am pretty sure I played this game but almost zero recollection of actually playing it.
Yup, never heard of it. The Remasters are crazy rn!
Now Why was I just talking about this yesterday when you guys put out that Gothic Remake Article Now let's Hope we Get Two Worlds as well.
Oh hell yes. Me and my buddy played this to death for 1000g back on the 360. Still play it to this day. Seraphim all the way!
Thoroughly enjoyed playing this on the PS3. The most memorable thing about it was the side quest with the band Blind Guardian that ended in them playing "Sacred Worlds" in-game. I wonder if they'll keep that intact in the remaster.
@kevinm360 That song was an absolute banger.
This game was AWESOME!!
Cant wait to buy it and play thru with my wife in split screen! Had a blast with this game in coop.
Also this game introduced me to Blind Guardian and Sacred Worlds is such a banger.
@Stragen8 That's what I remember from this game. A vague recollection of an isometric hack and slash, and after running a few side quests, you're treated to an in-bar concert of the Sacred Worlds song! That song is still on my playlists.
Oh Jesus what a great game. I bought this on the ps3 but the performance was quite horrible and the control system was not very friendly and was akin to playing twister with your fingers. I bought it for my PC a few years later and it was a massive improvement over my ps3 experience. I am really interested in this. For anyone who's never played this or heard of it don't be mistaken by thinking it's just a diablo clone as its very different and has a fully rotational camera. This is great news for arpg fans.
Wish these studios would concentrate on sequels or new content rather than constantly regurgitating the same old same old. I'm getting sick to death of remasters.
I keep forgetting how bad many ps3 looked back in the day. These remasters do nothing for me. Had it been a remake, I'd be all over it.
I recall this game as being one of the most boring games I have ever experienced. The concept of the game was alright but the end result was pretty poor and bloated to hell with the ridiculous amount of side quests it has.
They would have to really rework the game to have any appeal for taking another look at it.
That is so random. Love it.
I loved Sacred 1. I loved Sacred 2 (because it filled gap before Diablo 3 release). I hated Sacred 3.
I don't get why they try to remaster S2 while S1 needs console release? But OK, I'm missing 2 trophies on my PS3, so I'll get platinum there and see if there is something new in PS5 version, but sentence "overhauled combat" smells like rotten fish.
I have played this game so much! It is fantastic and there are so many build variations!
Also, it is open-world ARPG!
The only downside for me is that the humor is weak
I have spent +250 hours on the Xbox 360 version back then. Really addictive, a lot to do, great ARPG/Diablo-like.
I actually enjoyed this game more than diablo 3, the world was huge and filled with amazing fights and secrets. Its great that we're also getting the expansion and new character in the remaster.
Why not the first one though? I remember being pretty disappointed by the sequel.
Played this A LOT on the fatty PS3. Performance was janky at best but it was compelling with a massive map to explore. I think I might have finished it in light mode?
As @kevinm360 says, the Blind Guardian quest was funny and the in-game concert was fabulous!
It's odd how the first one never arrived on the PS or Xbox and Sacred 3 was an absolute turd.
I wonder if it'll contain the Ice & Blood expansion (that only got released on the PC)?
I was a PC gamer when this came out and I played the heck out Sacred 2.
It will be interesting to see how well a remaster will do on a PS5 because as other have mentioned it did have performance issues even on pc.
Only other thing I would hope for is they include the dlc as I seem to remember it adds a lot to the game including another class.
Certainly has my attention at least.
Can we get a heavenly sword remaster!
@kevinm360 Haha came here to say Blind Guardian were the only good thing about this game.
@nessisonett I think I have seen Eraserhead...but it may have just been referenced so much in bigger, more popular media that it's just cultural osmosis. Or something.
sadly no couch coop any more. That game was just not good enough for me to play alone xD
I played this back then and thought it was terrible. Still played the hell out of it though. But can’t see myself doing it again.
this is pointless since it seem outdated even when it was on ps3 lol
I absolutely adored this game, even getting the collectors edition. I still have my Seraphim figurine and poster somewhere in fact. However I never 100%ed this game so this might be a good opportunity to do so.
But if THQ Nordic were to Remaster or remake Summoner 1+2 by Volition.... NOW WE'RE TALKING!!
I remember that I played through this game several times and spent a lot of hours with it. The game was fun and addictive, I will very likely pick this up and get a memory refresh.
The first one is fantastic the only problem is with the game breaking bugs where the story doesnt go on. 😆
