Re: Romero Games Appears to Have Closed as Xbox Layoffs Cast Dark Shadow Over Industry

@Fiendish-Beaver I can guarantee you that Nadella would’ve made it clear to Phil before signing off on passing him the $80bills, that as a result of it that certain metrics would need to be met… and if they weren’t… well here we are. Yet Phil just trotted out his good for the industry, good for the staff, good for the gamer mantra regardless of the potential risks if it didnt pan-out.

Even during the acti-bliz trial there was Microsoft documentation discussed showing the crazy metrics Gamepass would need to hit by 2030 to be sustainable… you think there wasnt more crazy metrics discussed post the deal? šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Re: Death Stranding 2 Is Causing Some PS5s to Overheat

I’m holding on to play it until I have a couple of free weeks in September. Hopefully the weather will be a bit more chilled by then… and another patch or too to help resolve the issue too šŸ¤ž.

It’s hot as all hell here in the UK atm… if I could treat my PS5 to a slushy at the same time as the missus and I are enjoying one in the garden, I would! šŸ˜…

Finished off the Zombie Army Trilogy plat yesterday but will probably play a little more this weekend to help out a few of the guys finish off their bits and pieces. Such an underrated game, between it and its sequel… they are two of the best co-op games I’ve played. So much fun!

Played through the prologue of Dead Island: Riptide this morning too, to continue my hot-zombie-summer. Enjoyed DI2 a lot more than I was expecting at the start of this year, so I’ll hopefully feel similarly about this one.

@LtSarge I think that direct sequels have always delivered a very similar gameplay experience to their previous instalments for the most part.

From 8-bit games like Super Mario Bros. to Super Mario Bros. 2 (the real 2) through to more modern games like Gears of War to Gears of War 2 or Forza Horizon 4 to Forza Horizon 5, the core gameplay is often only changed with minor tweaks for the most part.

Reboots like God of War 2018 is different as the whole gameplay delivery was redesigned but reboots are far more rare that sequels.

Re: The Witcher, Kingdom Come Vibes in Blood of Dawnwalker Gameplay

Yeah I’ve been relatively excited for this since the first theatrical trailer at the start of this year… and this gameplay probably adds a little support to that.

I wasn’t a massive fan of the combat in Witcher 3 and this looks pretty similar… but I’m hoping the open world, narrative and characters will mean that any grumbles I have with the sword-play is mitigated, as was the case with W3.

Had a great time on Zombie Army Trilogy this week and will hopefully finish off the Sniper Elite playthrough over this weekend. All the hordes are done and will then just have a few collectibles and some miscellaneous trophies left to mop up. Big shout out to @CaptD who already has the platinum (popped around 6 years ago I might add) but has been down to pop zombie skulls all week!

Another great game by Rebellion and another one of their back-catalogue that they’ve patched for PS5, here’s to hoping Zombie Army 5 happens one day šŸ»!

Re: Blood Message Is Uncharted Meets Ancient China, and It Looks Phenomenal

@get2sammyb never said that they didn’t. Obviously if you get extremely lucky you could make a Fortnite or a Warzone (the profits of which dwarf any and all single player games) but the chances of that happening are likely 100-1.

So, I stand by what I said, the chances of you making a healthy profit (notice I didn’t say the same or more profit than the odd successful GaaS) with a quality single player game has far better odds.

Around a half way through my Ghost & Clean Hands playthrough on Dishonored, so should finish that off over this weekend. Whenever I’ve played it through before, I’ve always gone quite high chaos, so it’s been a nice change to just get in unseen, non-lethal the target and get out without searching every nook-and-cranny.

Then on to Zombie Army Trilogy, which I’m looking forward to. ZA4 was up there with my favourite games I played in 2023, so I’m hoping I feel similarly about this. Have a good one squarepushers!

Absolutely hammered The Division this week with @CaptD. Finished off the campaign and most of the way through a hard playthrough too. Gonna try and finish that off today and maybe a first venture out into the Dark Zone too 😬. Really good game though and… yet another Ubisoft game that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. Happy weekend squarepushers!
