Before all the hate from some quarters that a Square Pusher would dare to plough the depths of fanboyism to rate a PlayStation exclusive above their beloved third party french RPG that they feel some strange loyalty too as it was on Gamepass⦠I want to applaud the diverse entries that are turning up on these lists so far.
And before the retort⦠one of your unquestionably objective Pure Xbox writers just rated South of Midnight as their best game of the year, and therefore above Expedition 33, so donāt even bother complaining that a game of Death Stranding 2ās quality was rated similarly.
Started Ultra Age last night. Itās a pretty average character-action game in all honesty but wanted to find something relatively short to finish off my years trophy hunting with a round number.
Also, Iām still on Resident Evil: Revelations! My co-op partner sent me some homework to study last night, as we hit our umpteenth roadblock during yesterdays session š
@Fiendish-Beaver real sorry to hear about your loss mate, my missus means the absolute world to me and I honestly donāt know what Iād do without her. I can only imagine how fresh it still seems⦠and yes, how much harder it must be right about now. Really hoping all the happy memories help you through it.
Iām currently in the process of trying to plat Borderlands 2 as it goes (the level grind to 50 is real) btw.
After god-knows how many hours Iāve put into BL2, I am pretty over it atm⦠but, I have enjoyed it and do plan on playān (& platān) all other Borderlands games over the coming years (including the Tales of⦠instalments). Iāve heard loads of good things about this first one but not so much about its sequel. Might play this first one as a Christmas wind-down while itās at the forefront of my mind š¤
@get2sammyb yeah I get you, it did look like MS were all-in back in 2022⦠and if theyād remained with that all-in mentality ie. weāll buy up the industry and then have all games exclusive to our platform, Iām sure it wouldāve been the death knell for PlayStation.
I guess that we didnāt foresee how some major expenditure would bring Xbox more under the focus of Sauronās eye though. That and the need for major tech corporations to invest all available funds into AI caused there to be a complete turnaround in the expected outcome.
There really needs to be a dramatisation made about all this, itās ripe for the picking!
The amount of fumbles that have resulted from Microsoft buying ActiBliz is actually quite impressive. I remember vividly the jubilation amongst the Xbox fanbase and the concern within PlayStation circles when the acquisition was first announced⦠but wow.
Cries of āLet us competeā replete with documentation showing Microsoft execs to be gleeful at the thought of having their foot on PlayStationās throat due to the potential of āspending them out of businessā⦠but not only did it lead to massive lay-offs, studio closures and going full third party, but now the unstoppable force that is CoD is staring to look a lot more āstoppableā. Incredible!
Iām gonna be doing my bit to celebrate Xboxās 25th anniversary in 2026. Iām gonna play (& hopefully plat š¤) Gears of War: Reloaded, Forza Horizon 5, Halo: Campaign Evolved and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle⦠one in each quarter.
The last one (2023) was an unbelievably pleasant surprise. Itās a top tier souls-like imho and I will be picking up the sequel day 1 out of appreciation.
@Ricky-Spanish⦠I mean @Chip-Douglas, we all got what you were saying under your old/banned username and we get what youāre saying under your new vpn one.

@BrownOwl fair enough buddy, I really shouldnāt generalise as you say. I concede my point, as Iām sure most PC gamers fi actually game. Happy gaming āļø
@Rodimusprime13 honestly the fact that you guys continue to surprise me with your stupidity deserves a round of applause⦠coz Iāve been amazed for well over ten years by this point. WELL DONE for continuously being able to get that reaction outāve me⦠itās honestly impressive!
@windxtravelerx thatās perfectly fair dude and I hope it works out the best for you⦠and everyone! Iām just a biblical over-thinker and have to act accordingly to quiet my notoriously questioning-mind. Boa sorte to you and yours.
@11001100110zero when you look at the state of both Xbox and of GameStop rn⦠it seems to have worked out well for both parties eh? Iām sure Gabe is chomping at the ****ing bit š
@Rodimusprime13 the profits come from sticking a virtual store inside hundreds of millions of peopleās homes. Thatās why its never made any sense for Microsoft (nor Sony for that matter) to put Steam on their gen 10ās.
@SuperYlvis in fairness, he was a console gamer once but⦠āevolvedā. PC gamers rarely game though, if they aināt tinkering with theyāre rig⦠their lobbing grenades into console occupied territory just to watch the fallout.
Just to let you all know (particularly the Nintendo fans out there) @nomither6 is a massive PC evangelist and hates on PlayStation as much as heās supposedly hating on team red rn. Try not to think of this as a PlayStation vs Nintendo thing⦠this is an elitist vs anything that they donāt consider to be elite thing.
@windxtravelerx in fairness to you, I was thinking pretty much along the same lines until this whole drastic increase in the price of RAM. No one knows what the future holds but it could (and probably will) cause the PS6 (as well as all of its competitors) to be priced considerably higher than the estimates that have been flying around these past 12 months or so.
I hope it doesnāt have this kind of impact but Iām a realist.. and at Ā£569.99 the Black Friday price for a Pro was just too good to pass up. Consoles and PC components may never (or for a long time at least) be this inexpensive again.
Whatever your particular perspective may be, there is no denying that in terms of sales figures at least⦠both the Switch 2 has had an incredible first 9 months and the PS5 has had a very good 5th year, bolstered by an astronomical Q4.
Iāve been on this hype train since its original reveal a few years back, the visual-style and action just looked so fresh to me⦠even the missus was like āwhatās that!ā. She still asks me about this and when itās due to this day⦠which is unusual*.
I picked one up over Black Friday. What with Ā£130 off, PSSR2 around the corner and AI looking like it will majorly impact the price of PlayStations (as well as itās competitors) for the foreseeable future, it just felt like a great price at the right time.
Been looking into the various games that have a big boost from the Pro and Iām actually surprised by how noticeable it is in many third party games (the impact it has on first party is well-documented)⦠and itās only going to improve (probably quite drastically with PSSR2). Itās already feeling like a prudent purchase.
Iād like to see these Black Friday numbers against the equivalent Black Friday for PS4. Itās always been close, if the PS5 was always a little behind⦠but lately (especially what with a massive BF like this one) I actually think that the PS5 will outsell the PS4 by the end of its run.
A fair bit of co-op this weekend. Finishing off the Tiny Tina dlc for Borderlands 2 today and then some raid mode on Resident Evil: Revelations tomorrow. After quite a few hours (and months in regards to the latter š ) on both, it looks like weāre creeping up on the finishing line of both.
I then have next week off and am gonna try and fit Psychonauts and Risk of Rain 2 in for 50 plats for the year.
I loved the last Lords of the Fallen (itās honestly the closest thing to Dark Souls 4 weāll probably ever get)⦠but Iād be a bit disappointed if this turned out to be the next LotF tbh.
@Th3solution I actually already have the game (scheduled to play in in 2031 š) but yeah, the third person option definitely gets me more excited about it. Sci fi Farcry with a third person view point⦠I might buy another copy just to express my appreciation!
@ladh70 well now is certainly the time! Donāt know whether you paid more or less than I did⦠but I feel that my Ā£569.99 was an absolute steal given whatās to come.
This is the main reason that I just bought a Pro over Black Friday. Itāll be a console that will continue to develop as a result of PSSR⦠and consoles will probably never be this cheap again.
