PS5 Pre-Orders for Bloodlines 2's Premium Edition to Be Refunded As Paradox Promises Changes 1

If you already pre-ordered the Premium Edition of anticipated RPG sequel Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, you’ll be refunded this week.

That’s because publisher Paradox has promised “adjustments”, after the pricier Premium Edition attracted criticism for including two character classes as DLC.

Fans of the game were previously able to stump up £74.99/$89.99 for everything at launch, or pay an extra £18.69/$21.99 for the Toreador and Lasombra clans at any time.

The Chinese Room, who’s been tasked with finishing this troubled project, argued that it added the new clans after assuming development duties from previous studio Hardsuit Labs. Of course, that’s not the concern of consumers.

Fortunately, the companies have seen sense.

Community manager DebbieElla wrote on Discord, as reported by Eurogamer.net:

“We are working hard on the adjustments that we promised, and we will be able to tell you all the details on 17th September. Making significant changes like this involves many moving parts, and we want to make sure that we get it right with this change.

Anyone who pre-ordered the Premium Edition through the PS Store will be contacted and refunded starting Monday 8th September. You’ll be able to pre-order your Premium Edition copy later again, before the release on 21st October. Please note that this is an intentional first step in our planned course of action leading up to 17th September to deliver the best possible experience for you at launch.”

While the company hasn’t confirmed either way, it seems fairly obvious to us that the DLC clans will be included in the base game now. We suppose the challenge is figuring out what else it can add to make the Premium Edition worthwhile.

Of course, while this situation could have been easily avoided, respect must go to Paradox et al for taking on board the robust feedback and making changes.

Considering how long it’s taken for this title to release, it would have been a shame to see it mired by this mistake.

We’ll update you on exactly what changes the publisher is making on 17th September, but for now, keep an eye out for your refund if you already pre-ordered.
