When is Starfield coming to PS5? And, whisper it, does anyone even care anymore?
Of course they do – while it didn’t turn out to be the Skyrim-sized success Bethesda was perhaps hoping for, it’s still a generally well-liked game. We’re sure it’ll still comfortably find an audience on PlayStation.
But it looks like you may have to wait until next year at this point.
While it doesn’t share any specific sources, MP1st reports that weak sales of the game’s first expansion Shattered Space – which has an alarming 62 rating on Metacritic – spooked the publisher, and it’s waiting for the game’s next DLC before porting the RPG to Sony’s system. That’s due in Spring 2026.
It does make sense to re-launch the title alongside a milestone update, so we can certainly see the theory behind waiting – it’s not like there’s any major rush to get the game on PS5 after all.
The site adds that you probably shouldn’t expect an announcement at Gamescom or anything like that, which again, makes sense, as it probably won’t need a long marketing cycle.
So next year may be the year, then. It was reported recently that Microsoft is plotting many more titles for PS5 following the success of the likes of Forza Horizon 5, so it all makes sense to us.
