Even though it’s insomniac, I’m hoping the combat is more God of War reboot than Spider-man… freeflow combat is so boring!

I absolutely loved the first look at this a couple of State of Plays back. Keeping my eye firmly on this one.

Much to my pleasant surprise, the reports of this from Gamescom were very positive. I’m pretty excited for this not gonna lie.

I do find this negativity targeted at Sony first party sequels a little strange this gen not gonna lie. I mean, yes the sequels to Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War (2018) and Spider-man have been somewhat iterative as you say… but sequels have always kinda been that way for the most part. Are there outliers to that? Of course (normally due to a generational leap or two… but we’re way deep into diminishing returns in terms of one generation to the next at this point) but generally if you look back at some of the great series (from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo… as well as third party) sequels will often just fine-tune what had come before.

Probably a bit of co-op Aliens: Fireteam Elite… solid multiplayer fun, especially when on a difficulty with friendly fire 😅

Been fascinated by this since its first reveal a few years back… and I just feel more and more sure it’s gonna be a banger with every subsequent outing. Morbidly stunning!

Although Streets of Rage 2 was my favourite game at the time, whenever I think back to those halcyon Megadrive days that saw me through pretty much my whole Comprehensive School years… it’s The Revenge of Shinobi that stands out the most. I’m looking forward to this!

Finished off my first run on RE: Revelations yesterday and thought it was just a real solid survival horror fair play. Another playthrough on Infernal difficulty now… and then an absolute boat-load of co-op in the Raid mode. As someone who generally prefers the more solitary gaming endeavours out there, I’m actually quite looking forward to some jolly co-op with this one.

Thank the lord, us single-player fogies have China, Korea and Japan meeting our needs!

GTAVI will be one of the rare games I’d have to play at release… and I have a backlog that would see me through to retirement anyway, so I’m in no rush. Just get it right.

I just played the original again on PS3 back in May, has aged more than I expected tbh but still enjoyed it.

Made a start on Resident Evil: Revelations on Wednesday, so looking to get further into that. It feels a little sluggish and janky but… I quite like it tbh. Reminds me of Dead Space for some reason (although nowhere near as good). Looking forward to trying the co-op too!

I’ll probably play it eventually as I quite liked the original. It’s disappointing that the actual gameplay was scaled back from the original if anything though… you’d think with the extra capital that would’ve been made available after being purchased by MS, that the gameplay would’ve been the area targeted for expansion. Weird choice 🤔

Imagine if they went onto to reboot these in the way that they rebooted Doom with 2016! 🙏

Really interested to see how this turns out as I’ve heard conflicting opinions in some of the previews. I’ve become quite the fan of character-action games these last few years so if this is a 7 or above, I’m on board!

I might end up giving it ago one day. After Outer Worlds I thought I’d never play one of these Bethesda/Obsidian rpgs ever again… but i felt a bit of nostalgia to go back to New Vegas last year and thoroughly enjoyed it again. So that has made me think I’ll slip one in every now and then… 😉

I’m saving the Part 1 & 2 remakes just in case Part 3 ever gets announced… in which case, the outbreak-athon is on!

Hadn’t heard of this one before but I’m quite interested in what I see. I’m a sucker for third-person shooters and I liked the Bloodborne-esque dodging too. What with the disappointing news that Outriders 2 got cancelled, with a bit of luck this could possibly fill that void.

Huge fan of Nioh 1 & 2. I’m yet to play LoP which I’ve heard is amazing, so for me the Nioh games remain the elite souls-likes not made by From Soft. The announcement of 3 was a great surprise!

Right at the end of my 100% playthrough of Assassins Creed: Rogue with only the cheat trophies left… well those and the Dedicated Employee trophy which is notoriously glitchy and unfortunately glitched for me too. So once I get the 4 remaining cheat trophies, it’s back to starting a new playthrough from scratch to redo 35 Abstergo Challenges.

I finally played the original Darksiders earlier this year (it and the others have been in my backlog for years)… and I bloody loved it! Psyched to play through the rest of the series and then get to this!

@TrollOfWar well I wouldn’t personally say no to $15.5 million but I might if I was Sony. As I said in my original post, it’s a decision between potential earning vs potential damage to the brand. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it isn’t happening, just that I personally wouldn’t be traversing this route if I made the decisions for Sony.

@TrollOfWar it’s not just profit though, it’s the potential percentage of profit (the risk/reward dynamic). For instance, hypothetically let’s say porting Horizon: Zero Dawn to Xbox would cost x… and the subsequent sales would amount to revenue of x+£1 (or £1 profit… as I know you guys seem to have an issue differentiating between revenue and profit), it simply wouldn’t be worth it. Now obviously I don’t think that the example shown would only make £1 profit but it paints the picture that profit alone is not enough, the potential profit percentage has to be acceptable.

And the only people who know what that acceptable percentage would be is the Sony board. All I was trying to do was to show that Microsoft porting games to PlayStation is a completely different prospect to Sony porting games to Xbox. As you said PlayStation has over double the user base and there is a far higher propensity for those users to make purchases. On the other hand Xbox has under half the user base and the likelihood of that smaller user base actually making purchases is demonstrably impacted negatively by Gamepass. I didn’t think I needed to break it down that far if I’m honest… but obviously I did.

@TrollOfWar it’s not as if I’m making any outlandish statement like 🤣 you only have to look at the sales figures dude, the sales on Xbox are dwarfed by those of Switch, PC and PlayStation.
