If Things Don't Turn Around for DON'T NOD, It May Face Closure in a Matter of Months 1

Publisher and development studio DON'T NOD is in a precarious position.

In a new press release focusing on its financials for the first half of 2026, the company has outlined its plans for necessary structural changes that it hopes will help it stay afloat.

For the first half of the year, DON'T NOD's operating income declined alarmingly sharply compared to 2025, dropping 56 per cent to €6.1 million.

The publisher attributes this drop to "systemic pressures in the video game industry", with "highly selective financing" being a particular problem.

Revenue came in at €6.1 million, a year-on-year decrease of 14 per cent.

The report goes on to say that the continuation of operations as a business will partly depend on "securing external financing to cover business needs and project development."

In other words, DON'T NOD needs a big cash injection, but that's far from guaranteed.

"This currently represents significant uncertainty regarding the company's ability to continue operating beyond January 31, 2027," the report reads.

The company is planning to cut costs and make alterations to how it operates in order to stay alive.

In a nutshell, it looks like DON'T NOD is going to be streamlining its production process to enable a more regular cadence of releases.

It hopes this will result in a "more efficient allocation of resources, a clarification of responsibilities and an increased focus of expertise on priority projects."

Unfortunately, it sounds like the restructure will result in more job losses, with "up to 90 positions" at risk of redundancy.

It sounds like a very difficult scenario, and most likely will see many more people out of work. It's pretty brutal.

DON'T NOD has released several games over the last few years, but sadly none appear to have been big success stories.

Since 2020, the company has released Twin Mirror, Harmony: The Fall of Reverie, Jusant, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, and this year's Aphelion.
