I abandoned Nintendo a few years ago, so I'll definitely be playing GTA VI.

OG OoT came out in Nov in most territories and it is the 40th anniversary (that Nintendo will celebrate for a year); they wouldn’t move the release even if rockstar moved to day and date on purpose. Different audiences. Nintendo isn’t thinking about GTA.

Getting Zelda.

(If anyone lucked out it was Fable getting kicked to next year.)

I'll pass on both. October will have enough games to occupy me until 2027.

I'm the neither option, I felt like I played these N64 remakes on 3DS and the nostalgia just doesn't seem the same another 15 years later, even with fancy graphics. Plus I don't own a Switch 2. GTA, I do have a PS5, but the last games I really liked were Vice City and San Andreas.

I still don't have a Switch 2, and I'll probably still be playing Phantom Blade Zero. So hard pass on both.

What part of most of GTA6 sales are already in or atleast 90% ... What pre-order sales at 1.1 billion already?

They could have released the Zelda game on the same day as GTA 6 and it wouldn't make a difference! completely different games for different audiences on different platforms.

I'll be playing GTA because like many I've played Ocarina hundreds of times since 98 so I'm in no hurry to jump back in as I still have the game 100% memorized 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'll go for the one I can buy as a physical game.

Sony's not getting any money from me. I only buy PS5 games second hand since their announcement, and my indie wishlist moved entirely on Switch 2.

Definitely Zelda. GTA 6 looks good but I plan on getting it on PC when it releases there.

But I think the OoT Remake looks fantastic and I'm excited for it.

This Direct sold the game to me (I thought that OoT wouldn’t attract me after so many playthroughs since 1998). That Netflix show a couple of days ago didn’t.

I'm buying the one that is physical. I'll wait for a sale on the one that isn't.

Just bought an Xbox Series X for Gears: E-Day. Now I have to get a Switch 2. Hope The Wind Waker gets this treatment too.

I’ll get both day one, but no idea when I’ll get to Zelda. September and October are backing us right up into traffic. Let’s see how much time GTA VI wants to steal from us. Haha.

Are they really competing though? I wouldn’t say so. Even if they released on the same day I don’t think it’s much of a competition between them. 2 weeks earlier, definitely not.

I‘m genuinely surprised by the (intermediate) results of this poll on a PlayStation website. Didn’t expect „Zelda for me“ leading by a mile!

I bought a Switch 2 in order to play Zelda and Xenoblade games in their ultimate forms.

I also have a PS5 Pro.

Therefore, I will be playing both of these games. Will probably need to pause my FFXIV subscription for a couple months. Timing could coincide with the upcoming expansion perfectly.

I think there is little crossover, but I will be buying both, like most gamers who love new video games and are invested in the medium.

These games are not in direct competition and complement each other nicely on their respective systems.

I don’t have a Switch 2 and also don’t have the disposable income to get GTA VI at launch. So uh, neither for now?

I played Zelda OOT on the N64 and loved it. Haven’t played any of the subsequent remasters, but this remake looks amazing. Needless to say this will be day 1 for me, as will GTA 6 be as well!

Not interested in GTA at all. The virtual criminal behavior and debauchery have just never appealed to me. I'm beyond excited for the remake of one of the greatest games of all time though! Zelda easily for me!

Was looking forward to Zelda since I haven't played it since I was a little kid but after that I'm probably going to pass on it.

It just reminded me of a cheap Unity engine game, at one point I even had to wipe my eyes because I thought my vision had went funny. Looks nice at a distance though.

Im getting both, but god dammit im way more hyped for Zelda. It looks amazing.

Will be waiting for an OLED Switch 2 before I buy the console, so as much as I love Zelda, it will have to wait

I’ve never played OoT and wasn’t sure I would but the Unreal 5 looking graphics running on Nintendo hardware really makes me feel like I should. And as @dimey pointed out HLTB has it at about 30 hours, which seems worth the price of admission as a new to me game.

Still thinking about playing GTA V so 6 has about a decade to wait. 🤣

Perhaps if I still had the N64 OoT cartridge, Nintendo would be generous to offer a free upgrade eh...preserving physical is not that simple.

These may have different budget and size, but sales wise I wouldn’t be so sure to tell which sells better considering Ocarina is a classic.

100% Zelda for me, never been a GTA fan.

I'll end up with both. I just don't know if I'll have everything else I want to play from September/October finished by then so probably neither at launch.

I'm happy for the devs at Nintendo though. They finally have a console capable of putting out some impressive graphics like the other two big boys again. Zelda looks great.

I mean Zelda is just a remake of a game I've played countless times already. A game that will likely be finished in like 3 or 4 days.

It does kind of point out how many Nintendo fans are on this site though, really puts a lot of these polls and discussions into perspective.

It will be OoT remake for me. I was never interested in GTA 6 anyway, even if it did get a disc release.

Getting both, they both look so great. I love NIntendo games and Rockstar so much, no way i can miss either one. Day one for both. Zelda really impressed me today. Shows there is plenty of power in Switch 2 for some great looking games. I play my Switch 2 every day and this will only expand that.

@TheArt I remember first getting OoT from CEX. I had to instantly replace the save battery, because it was one of around ten games for the console that needed them.

It is a pain maintaining your goods, but for me, playing the original cartridge on the original hardware on a CRT…..nothing beats it for me.

@ATaco personally I think the reason why there are so many Nintendo fans here is because there are a lot of hardcore gaming enthusiasts here, the type of people who probably own multiple different systems.

GTA VI will be best on PS6. I will briefly check it out on my Pro, then likely park it and resume on PS6.

Same thing I did with GTA IV and V, which ran like garbage on its launch generation.

Makes a lot of sense to release it on November. It is the best month to release games due to the holidays being close and this year with all the publishers being scared of GTA that leaves a empty month for OoT to release, considering GTA is not releasing on the Switch 2 and people with both consoles will probably buy both games anyways.

Honestly that looks utterly stunning. I don't own a Switch 2, nor would I buy one, but It will do very well I imagine. GTA VI will still smoke it however just because it will appeal to far more people.

At this point I reckon The Witcher 3 Remaster and OOT Remake will both be up for GOTY along side GTA VI. I wouldn't be surprised if Wolverine is also in there as everything about it looks very promising.
EDIT: Based on the rules TW3 likely won't be allowed.

I don't have a Switch 2 but if I did id definitely be snagging the Zelda Remake.

I really have no interest in GTA6 based on what ive heard. Sounds like they went the RDR2 direction with it, which means I probably wouldn't actually enjoy playing it.

Well it's pretty clear. The GTA series has outsold the Zelda series nearly 4 to 1 despite the fact it's been going over a decade less and the fact the Zelda series has 33 games while GTA has 11 (both according to Wikipedia).

So as much as I like OoT, theres really no competition which will sell better.

I haven't even finished Breath of The Wild so another Zelda for me is highly unlikely. I'm looking forward to Grand Theft Auto more as a way to see what they've done with the technology than anything else. I'm sure the story and game-play will be superb too, but it's those leaps and bounds in lighting and in world design that I want to see more than anything else.

I wouldn't consider these as competing or that Zelda is going up against GTA for several reasons.

These games are NOT in the same Genre, NOT targeting the same demographic, NOT releasing on the same Platforms etc so I wouldn't consider that it was foolish of Nintendo to release around the same time and, it may well be a good move as that gives Nintendo and of course their Hardware something Positive to offer their Users as the other platforms have GTA. Zelda is more a Family Friendly title that the Kids will be able to enjoy, GTA isn't.

Nintendo doesn't really worry about what's happening outside their ecosystem - they get their own games and often wait for some of the 3rd Party Games to eventually release on their hardware. They still sell and are very popular without needing to 'compete' on Hardware specs and 3rd Party releases, trying to offer the 'best' version of the same game etc - its more a bonus if those games get ported to Switch at some point.

Ocarina was mind blowing back in the 90’s and today’s trailer had me hyped to play it all over again. I’ll be there day one for both games.

I'm absolutely ecstatic for both and both will be day one purchases. In general, OoT is a console exclusive on a console without GTA6, and they cater to different target audiences, so I don't see this as a completely out there move for Nintendo.

I have mixed feeling with OoT remake graphic. The environment looks pretty but the character model looks weird like Nintendo smear DLSS5 all over it and it mess up with the artstyle.

Also, the original OoT doesn't have traditional voice acting. So when i'm hearing Zelda, Ganon, etc talking it just doesn't feels right.

That said. I enjoyed and finished OoT on 3DS. So i choose OoT remake over GTA 6. Not just it looks more fun but it also have physical release + cheaper too. Sadly, i'm not yet own Switch 2.

GTA isn't for me but Zelda looks amazing so that will be my November game for sure. May even get the limited edition console and Pro controller.

I wish that were true but the fact people constantly excuse Nintendo's anti consumer practices while relentlessly dogging on the rest of the industry leads me to believe a majority are fanboys that hate anything not made by Nintendo and they're the sort to hop to other communities to make those opinions known.

@ATaco Every platform holder has their fair share of fanboys. PlayStation, Xbox, Valve, Nintendo. But as for why people tend to excuse Nintendo and dog on everyone else, it’s mostly because nothing Nintendo has ever done has ever matched anything PlayStation or Microsoft have done in terms of corporate villainy.

Ocarina of time is probably the most nostalgic and influential videogame of my childhood. I already had GTA preordered and now have the physical OoT remaster preordered. Between these and hopefully Fable being good in February, it's really like reliving a small piece of childhood.

I'll play GTA VI at some point, but I prefer to sit out these massive herd moments, for my own sanity. I'll probably check it out early next year. OoT remake looks incredible, but I doubt I'll ever own a Switch 2.

With Nintendo not having a trophy / achievement system it was always gonna take something massive to bring me back to them and I'll be honest this has done it. I'll be getting a Switch 2 and...playing for fun for once...it's gonna be so weird.

What a trailer though. Everything you'd want from the remake. Captured the feel of the game perfectly while looking absolutely out of this world.

Such a GOATED month, the most beloved game of all time against the most advanced game to this date, I really feel fortunate to be able to play both on day one.

@tangyzesty that man was SELLING nes roms via a subscription service I believe. Yes, Nintendo went far, but the man they sued wasn’t exactly innocent.

Even then, that only affected that one guy, and the emulation community. It didn’t really effect their customers too much.

Nintendo should have released it on the same day, could be like Blur vs Oasis, or Barbenheimer (Zeldauto?)

OoT is one of my favorite games of all time. I remember in high school I got suspended on purpose just to go all in when it released lol. I was on the basketball team and when coach learned I got suspended he made me run around the track the entire 2 and a half hours of practice. Worth. Every. Minute!!!

That being said. Nintendo knows the GTA VI audience isn't the OoT audience. And OoT is a release of a remake. You think Nintendo would've released a new game this close to GTA? Anyway, I have The Witcher III Remake, Dragon's Dogma II: Dark Arisen, and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy to play. I'll be skipping both GTA VI and OoT.

GTA obviously. I don't care for Zelda much at all. It's not in competition anyway, Zelda won't affect GTA and vice versa, they couldn't be farther apart really. Nobody is cancelling their pre order of GTA because of Zelda.

What balls, they avoided a direct confrontation by releasing it 2 weeks earlier . Also for people solely on Switch 2 this is their holiday game not like there is a choice between the two.

Both look fantastic. I pre-ordered a copy of Zelda physically to play at launch. I'll probably just play my boyfriend's copy of GTA VI once he's moved on from it on his PS5 Pro.

Either way, no matter what you own, the end of the year is looking pretty great gaming-wise.

@Oram77 Consider this. Many (adult) console owners will buy GTA, but not all of them. On the other hand most owners of Switch 2 will buy Ocarina. For GTA.. there will be many just waiting for PC release as well.

That's not head to head against grand theft auto and grand theft auto will be the biggest selling game of the year. Word up son

The showcases sold me on both games, which admittedly I was only luke-warm on before.

Both games look great, and will be day1 buys from me. Hopefully enough time to finish Zelda before GTA drops... (but I don't mind starting GTA a little later, allowing me time to wrap up Zelda)

Is it that hard to accept the fact that plenty of PS owners also owned other consoles and more interested with Zelda OoT over GTA 6?

I have gotten a Nintendo console for the launch of a lot of Zeldas, but probably not this one. I am waiting on the next Switch 2 iteration. I can use it like I use my PS5. Plays old games better.

I'll still be playing the Witcher 3 again to care, and that upgrade is free. And Crimson Desert, an Elite Dangerous, oh and red dead 2 and 1 I got for the Switch 2. I've played the first Zelda on switch, breath of fire or something and it was so devoid of life. Haters gonna hate me mind. 😁😁😁

Neither for me, but I think even if the date wasn't special for Zelda, it would be a good option for Nintendo, since they're not getting GTA VI, at least to my knowledge. It's like going against the Superbowl. It sometimes works, because it gives people who aren't interested in it a clear alternative.

@SBBuds Obviously GTA6 is going to sell more, that isn't up to debate. However a site like Push Square (as well as all the other Hookshot Media sites) are used by the more dedicated fanbase. The types of people who get into discussions about gaming and who will play lots of different games.

@SBBuds I’m sure most of GTA 6’s sales will come from casuals, but that’s not saying that it’s all of them. It’s simply the reality of pretty much every game that has such strong mainstream success as GTA. The larger the franchise, the larger the casual demographic is going to be.

Obviously GTA6 will have a lot of hardcore gamers buying it too. To what level of hardcoreness, that will vary from gamer to gamer.

Zelda for me. GTA6 can wait when it's on its definitive "complete" edition releases on PC or PS6.
