Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Silent Hill F?

After getting all five endings, I'd go with a 7. Good horror game, and it's rare that I play something that compels me to finish it multiple times.

I haven't got the game but had to check if our 1/10 person was about. They are clearly committed to the bit.

7/10 for me, the atmosphere, story and visuals are really good. The negatives though are maybe deal breakers if I knew about them beforehand I probably wouldn't have bought the game. The combat difficulty, multiple endings and weapon break system are what's stopping me from scoring this any higher.

8/10 from me (after getting platinum), would be higher but the combat does hold it back some what and with how much combat there is in the game, it definitely needed refinements. The story on the other hand is an easy 10/10, dare I say the second best story in the franchise. For those who are interested, wait for a sale and pick it up then. Final note safe to say Silent hill is in a lot better place then it was 3 years ago, roll on Townfall next!

@UltimateOtaku91 Multiple endings have been a staple in Silent Hill since the first game. not being rude, but just asking, was this your first SH game?

@Oram77 I played Silent Hill 1 on PS1 but never completed it, the only other ones I've played are Homecoming and Book of Memories.

@UltimateOtaku91 Oh lord not Home coming, you poor soul. SH 1 to 3 are master pieces (3 being my favourite), you should give them a go if you can, or wait for the inevitable remakes.

It's an 8 at best. The story was outstanding with each ending being well worth getting. Loved the atmosphere and world. Great music. The combat though wasn't good especially on harder settings. Also I had numerous frame rate issues toward the end of the game when you had to deal with multiple combat encounters back to back while chasing the fog. So if not for the story it'd be a 7 but the story brings it up for me.

@Oram77 Yeah I do plan on playing the whole series, maybe they will get put onto Playstation plus premium at some point. Although I think remakes of all 3 are inevitable at this point so I may just wait.

I say 8/10. It's not the best Silent Hill, but it is really good.

I’m still playing it so I won’t vote but if I had to give it a score right now I’d give it an 8. It’s very Silent Hill to me, which is to say it has its ups and downs but the atmosphere, storytelling, puzzles and distinct brand of psychological horror are carrying the weight with ease.

Just finished the game last night and I'd give it a pretty solid 7. I'd give it an 8 if the combat wasn't such a jankfest, cause the atmosphere, environments, art direction and story are all really well done.

Its excellent.

The story with its plot and pacing and its layers of mysteries and secrets is a dream for lore hunters and lore fanatics.
I already have listened to a dozen of hours of other intepretations of the story.

The world building with its outstanding atmosphere and architecture of the 1960s of Japan is scarily immersive.

Characters are oddly fascinating.

The performances of voice actors and actresses are astonishingly hitting its myserious tone.

The graphics is breath-taking. Especially, in the Pro.

The music is the perfect companion to hightlight and underline the moment to moment of the experience.

The audio design got me scared straight the entire time.

The level designs were good.

The gameplays survival loop was great. I like the durability of the weapons.

The combat was the weakest point of Silent Hil f. Not Bad but left a lot of room for more and different.

I could talk for hours about this game. Its so addictive with its care of details and creativity.

More Silent Hill!

I love seeing Konami back in the industry.
Their absence was palpable

@JAMes-BroWWWn In my opinion the Japanese voice actress for Hinako should get the VA award this year.

It's a 9/10 for me. The Japanese voice acting is amazing, it has the best story in any game this year, and it looks and sounds great. The only thing that kept it from being a 10 was the few forced combat arenas. The combat is good, but multiple arenas in a row kinda feels out of place.

Playing this and Cronos at the same time and have to say I’m loving Cronos a lot more.

7.5/8 for me.

Pros:

• Wonderful atmosphere
• intriguing story with different endings giving more context (and reasons to replay)
• Akira Yamaoka score
• fun puzzles

Cons:

• rubbish combat (sluggish, unresponsive; you get tired wayyy too easily; takes ages to recover stamina; get outnumbered by faster enemies and stun-locked constantly)
• technically all over the place on Pro
• the underworld "dungeons" are kinda boring and go on forever
• feels a little too anime-soap-opera at times

It's NOT a Silent Hill game at all.
Nothing scary, same boring enemies... And of course : the infamous combats.
This Silent Hill looks -in it's form - as the first Silent Hill, on PSX. You go from point A to B.
as Konami can only do remakes (subcontracts only.. ) we will get a remaster of the first one... A waste of time and money. But fanboys will buy this episode, no matter what.... Good luck with that.

Not quite finished it yet, but so far it's been excellent. I've given it an 8.

The worst things about this one is the horrible combat and the multiple endings that require you to play the whole entire game all over again with it’s terrible combat system 🙄🙄🙄🙄

So far I prefer SH 2 remake. SHf has an almost souls like feel! It's also Slow and lumbering.

Well, I give it an F.

Weapon durability, and placement needed to be adjusted. Also stamina recovery could be tweaked

I give it a 5 or 6. First off, not a Silent Hill game. Second, I do not like the setting at all. Third, very unrealistic to play as a 16 year old school girl killing bosses with melee weapons. Fourth, the game is a survival horror game that plays like an action horror game that needs to adjust the durability on weapons. Especially if there are no guns in the game. Overall, kind of a horrorable game (see what I did there). lol.

At this point I think 7 out of 10 is very fair. Although am only 1/3 a way through and suspect the game will be far more enjoyable during a second run through for various reasons. The main gripe being a lot of the time you can end up running from the repetitive enemies and miss the opportunity to explore which again I guess will be easier to do during new game plus.

I find the nether world parts off putting and when it feels least like a SH game. That is where the game loses it's way as it's just not like the nether worlds from the western set games or as sinister. However the first hour or so with the Akira soundtrack and certain tips of the hat to the franchise overall you could almost imagine you are playing a retelling of SH1 or 2 so plus points for that.

I enjoyed it but combat was mid and most of the puzzles were annoying at best, ended up turning the puzzle difficulty all the way down.

Still though not bad over all

I've not played it and was on the fence due to various things I'd read about it but having dipped in and out of a playthrough by Maximilian, I'm really excited to play it. I avoided enough to keep it fresh for me but the bits of the story I saw and puzzles looked superb and very much a Silent Hill game, so this is now my next game to play

@captainsandman To be fair I can see why some would slate SHf simply out of frustration. The repetition of the netherworld levels (crests ad infinitum) and janky combat let alone some of the obtuse puzzles is testing my patience and I love the franchise. Can't judge it properly though till completed one playthrough.
