Ever since the grand unveiling of Resident Evil Requiem β the ninth mainline entry in Capcom's hugely successful horror series β the question of whether Leon S. Kennedy shows up has been on the lips of longtime fans.
It's been posited multiple times that the hero may be a playable character in Requiem, or possibly just a part of the overarching story in some capacity.
Well, it's a theory that fans refuse to let go, and now the noise seems louder than ever.
Dusk Golem, an insider who specialises in Capcom-related matters, claims that Leon will be revealed to be part of Resident Evil Requiem next week:

With Capcom having already confirmed Requiem isn't part of its upcoming Tokyo Game Show broadcast, it's thought that the reveal could be included in the (also unconfirmed) State of Play, which is supposedly taking place in the coming days.
On top of that, the following image is doing the rounds, apparently depicting Leon as he appears in Requiem:
Now, obviously this is all top-tier rumourmill stuff, but there's no smoke without a fire, and stranger things have definitely happened. It's very possible there's some merit to all this, but we can't know one way or the other.
So, Leon fans all turn their attention to next week, when Tokyo Game Show kicks off and Sony will (maybe?) have a presentation for us.

When you have finished the game, Leon wakes up. It was nothing but a nightmare. And there he goes, another day at the office, day dreaming about Raccoon City.
Itβs either Leon or Chris π«€ . Would it hurt for them to maybe explore some of the girls from the series being involved in the modern games or does aging women not sell them copies despite how beloved they are clearly within the community?
Gold mines of potential storylines they could go down with any of the characters and they always resort back to Leon or Chris
I'd much rather have Leon than Chris but I'd rather see Claire than either of them. That said I like the look of what we've seen so far anyway
Dusk says the image is fake.
Who the hell is this? Little Boss
@AdamantiumPriest looks more like Edward kenway from AC4 Black flag
@BusyOlf I never played it, tapped out at AC2.
Totally agree with your comment about using the girls of resident evil. Jill and Leon would've been great. Also while you're at it bring back the 2 scenarios. Why that mechanic wasn't implemented more is beyond me.
@carlos82 But Chris is our old partner y'know π
@AdamantiumPriest I was about to say that looks like Big Boss, Norman Reedus, and Leon combined.
I would have preferred Jill Valentine, she's long overdue to be a playable character in a new game.
@LazyDaisy I would be cautious with anything Dusk says.
@AdamNovice Jill, Claire heck even Rebecca Chambers deserve more love if we are honest.
@AdamNovice ... and a master of unlocking π
I'd prefer Chris - feel like he needs his character concluded after his appearance in VII and Village. Would be satisfying if he went out in a blaze of glory; the guy needs a rest.
Even if he is in it I hope they don't reveal it and we get to see him in the game for the first time.
Seeing Jill again would be nice too.
I really hope that's not leon π
@BusyOlf I love Leon but I'd be well up for a grizzled middle-aged Claire or Jill to be fair.
Leon looks in the mirror; what does he see? Noel.
As much as i love playing Leon, Chris, Jill, or any legacy characters, I hope this game stick with playing as Grace from start to finish...well make it 95% since i got the feeling her mother will be playable in flashback scene.
What's with the pirate patch? That's nonsense.
But, this game needs a connection to the classics. Being in raccoon city without the classics is an afront.
@AdamNovice Seriously! The last game that she was playable in was Revelations, which released in what, 2012? And technically that took place before the events of RE5. I know she was in the last CG film, but Jill is definitely deserving of her own mainline game again. No offense to Leon the character, but it feels like he gets a disproportionate amount of attention compared to Jill.
@pyrrhic_victory @AdamNovice When comes to previous female characters that deserve a new game, i think Rebecca, Sheva, or Sherry deserve it more than Jill.
I mean, Jill had RE 3 remake and appeared in RE Death Island movie not long ago. Meanwhile Rebecca last appearance was in RE Vendetta movie. More unfortunate for Sheva who still stuck in RE 5 and Sherry only got RE 2 + RE 6.
@PuppetMaster I wasn't a fan of the RE3 remake because of the cut locations, and yeah, it seems like there's been nary a mention of Sheva since 2009. Honestly, I'd take any of the heroines over another Leon story. And it's wild that we got two Ethan Winters stories before anything with Rebecca, Claire, Sherry, etc
@pyrrhic_victory Wait, i forgot that Rebecca also showed up in Death Island. But yeah, i think Leon along with Chris are quite overused.
Also, it's sad that Billy and Charlos only showed up in one game. Even Barry showed up in og RE 3 ending and playable in Revelations 2 along with her daughter.
@Oram77 Very true, the guy is often more wrong than right on all his leaks. There was one he did when this game was first outed as RE9 and it clearly wasn't what is now Requiem in any shape or form unless they make Grace's arc about 5 minutes long. Something about Jill and Leon or Jill and Chris on an island the plot sounded godawful and totally unbelievable. Like a bad version of the end segment of RE4 all action and no scares. I think he was either on the pipe or got confused with RE4 Remaster!
That picture did give me a few laughs though, the photo shopper should have put a parrot on the new lived in Leon's shoulder. SQUAWK!
Resi is coming back to Raccon City and none of the survivors won't be there ? No way that's happening,Leon and Jill will be in the game,pc or npc.
