Bethesda Finally Announces Oblivion Remastered Physical Edition Is Real

Shame the patches for the game aren't real

Will it all be on disc? Because it's a huge game.

It'd be nice If they ever bothered to fix it, so I can go back and carry on playing it

Any word on whether the game data is contained on-disc? Seems like the sort of thing Bethesda should have mentioned in the post, kind of dodgy they didn’t. I’d be ok if some of the bonus deluxe content required a download, but if the full main game isn’t there in its entirety this is literally pointless.

Man, what a disappointment this remaster was. Thought they might finally fix it but they barely addressed the glaring problems of the original, plus added technical issues.

So I guess they're going to put 32mb of data on the disc?

They should wait until the game is fully patched and in working order before they decide to release a proper physical.

I'll hold off for a sale of $20 or less before I pick this up.

I came to the comment section expecting to see people ask for a steelbook or an artbook to be bundled with the game, but instead the biggest request was that the game is actually on disc. Great times indeed.

This is disgusting. When a car is recalled right after the assembly line, does the auto maker ship it to showrooms to sell anyways, broken? No they do not.

If this is just another 200MB useless beer coaster, I will lose it.

If anything they should go back and patch it up so it performs better.

@DTfearTheBEARD Why even buy a disc like this if this is version 1.0, probably not patched is it all in disc probably not. Just as well get it on a big digital discount takes in less space. 😆

@Zuljaras I agree that the text “ Physical base game included” seems to imply the base game is actually on the disc. Underneath it labels the two expansions as “Additional downloadable content” so that will probably require a download.
For me, this is fine. It’s also a big surprise considering Microsoft’s atrocious track record with physical releases.

Strewth have they still not patched this game into an acceptable state? Judging by the comments above no. I was actually going to pick up the physical copy how bad is it currently? Is it reasonably playable or not worth a punt at this point?

@Oram77 Sounds like the Life Is Strange Collection due Friday. I'm hoping PS will do a review of that and explain if there are actually native PS5 versions of LIS, LIS: BTS and LIS 2 or Square are pulling a sly one and just including the PS4 versions but touting the whole collection as PS5 versions...

The argument I use for not caring about physical media, is that you are only preserving a broken incomplete version of the game on the disc.

In this case though, the current live version on the servers is no better!

Appalling how they haven’t fixed it, whereas as Borderlands 4 was sorted in a couple of weeks on PS and runs like a dream now.

@Flaming_Kaiser I know it would be kind of pointless if the game isn't on the disc in full. But I would still rather have that instead of a digital copy.

Microsoft did the same thing with Doom The Dark Ages & Indiana Jones. Which is why I haven't picked them up yet.

I can wait for a steep discount before I purchase them.

Only Elders scrolls i truly enjoyed,and Virtuous then uglifies the game with moronic brown filter. Put original Oblivion then i'll consider buying it,oh and put the WHOLE game on disc

I wonder what state it will be in when it gets released physically?

Given that the full game was on one PS3 GOTY blu-ray and the fatty 5 can read twice as much as that and read data-compressed files so why wouldn't it be one disc? That said, it's going to need to download a series of patches.

No thanks. The remaster was horrible.
If you have the original on PC, it's much better to update that version with mods.

@Northern_munkey You clearly overanalyzed and/or rearranged for your reply. It obv has nothing to do with hurting anyone, and everything to do with packaging up something that is not fixed yet and putting it on stores shelves.

@DTfearTheBEARD I pick up physical copies but the game need to be on there not 1/3 or something else its useless. Just like the episodic games from Telltale where you get the last episode as a downloadcode why even bother at that point do it good or go home is what i think.
